Holmgren: _________ is a player we have always coveted as an organization and are happy to finally bring him to Philly. Translation: You develop him, we'll sign him 15 years later.
Some would argue having two solid goalies would be a good problem to have. But to tell you the truth, I kind of miss having a guy like Boucher as a backup. He knows his role is to be a reliable back-up. That's it. Nothing else. That gives the #1 goalie confidence and room to refine his game. Bryzgalov is an above average goalie, but I feel he's a little stressed with Bob chewing at the bit to showcase his stuff in net. That's fine when you have two guys making the same $$ and competing for a shot but Bryz IS the #1 goalie. If you don't believe me ask the guy that signs his check every two weeks.
If Anaheim deals Ryan it's for instant results, not for prospects or the future. Their payroll is maxxed and the only two options are to compete now or clean house. In otherwords the Flyers have no chance of getting Bobby Ryan.
He missed maybe 12 games between 2001-2004 and this is an "issue' ? Cmon' . It's not like he's Forsberg pretending his foot is fine or Marc Savard saying his head feels 100%.
the only reason rinaldo got that charging call was because the panther he hit had his helmet shoot staright up in the air like like rocket blasting off right at the moment of contact. it looked too dramatic.
That was actually Rick Nash that he overpowered for the puck along the boards. I never saw Jagr do that once in his prime and here he is at 40 shoving around a big boy like Nash.
Aziz, Canoli, Great posts. I can't deny you guys your right to despise the 'old' Jagr, but it's nice to see you guys separate present day Jagr from his past. Your observation is spot on regarding him seemingly out there to help Giroux and the team as opposed to himself.
I know some posters had their hopes up that Jagr would fail in Philly for some strange reason. But he has been the perfect complement to Giroux and has been absolutely nothing like the skeptics predicted. Anyway, I really hope he holds up physically throughout the season since that is really the only argument the skeptics potentially still have. However, even if he does wear down my hat is off to the guy for doing what he has done so far.
