  1. @Hexy27 I have been saying our team has more good players since the March game where the flyers broke the Pen's winning streak. As good as the Penguins are and they are a scary good team, we have 12 good forwards they have 8, we have one more good defensman than them too. Here's the other thing, this Flyers team isn't afraid of that Pens team., but every other team in the league is, that Pen's team has smoked the Rangers, Broons, Devils, Wings and Preds since 87 has come back, that's all the chalk in the leauge 'cept for Vancouver. the Pens play team d worse than the flyers but don't have to worry about it much against the rest of the leauge because they have supeiror depth to every team but ours. what the tampa bay lighting was to the flyers this year we are to the Pens... their worst possible match up.
  2. Nice Jim... panty droppin' stud and face palm... addting those to my lexicon.
  3. ding ding ding and move on... there is no need to empathize with any team. His answer should have been "it was a blown call, the league is never happy when our officials miss calls." and then add some backdoor criticism sandwich for the officials so they don't feel ganged up upon.
  4. I posted this in @Irishjim's @B21 baiting thread but it is applicable here too Hey guys pr rule #1a everything is on the record... which only follows rule #1 which states the mic is always on. Campbell is being interviewed because of his capacity as VP of NHL douchebaggery or whatever, he needs to realize he's representing the league at all times, Especially during an "on the record" interview. Whatever he says in that capacity can be construed as a league position... Personally I don't care what he says, I thought the refs sucked equally for each team, they missed an egregious leg sweep on Fluery by Simmonds but whistled claude "meat" giroux on a vicious boarding call on Orpik things evened out and for they let the players decide the outcome of the game. campbell needs some media training, because it seems to me like he is often overmatched by weasel reporters and bloggers who want to get / create a story.

  6. you can't pin that loss on him, the caps generated 17 shots i like holtby because i watched him a lot as a hershey bear, he played really well to that point, stinks to lose on that play, the shot was a laser but he should have had it. he's a pretty level headed kid, he'll play well on Saturday too. .
  7. I actually think the linesman couldn't see the play because of where Orpik's skates were relative to where the linesman was...i think he had to make a guess, that pass was crisp and the play started 90+ feet away... guy's human. Edit: I guess I meant Martin's skates...
  8. mature beyond his years, and I can't wait until he gets the opportunity to let his offensive game shine, back to back 90+ pt seasons in the Q... tells me there's some skill beyond the responsible two way play.
  9. just want to make a very light hearted jab @Digityman... whom has done an awesome job up in this forum. this is a true philly fan site, as I have reached my postitive quote quota for the day... Crosby stinks ! Malkin is ugly the NHL hates everyone but the Penguins !!!! hopefully that will balance things out for me a little. oh and zetterburg deserved to get his skull cracked.
  10. Wellwood is like a two man forecheck all by himself... Almost any way that kid can flat out fly.
  11. I don't kNow if I think the flyers weren't "ready". I think half of them had no idea the hornets nest they they were stepping into... That building was rocking the home team was feeding off the energy, and then Pens ice a pretty good team. Totally agree we cannot spot them 3 a night but I'll bet the adjustment period for game 2 will be a lot shorter. The looks I saw on some of the young guys faces during those firstn10 minutes was sheer bewilderment... Lavs called the time out at the right time ...again and got them to settle down. once we started moving our feet we got back in it... Maybe the way to combat the bad start is to fine anyone who tries to fancy Dan into the offensive zone in the first 10 minutes of each game. Get the puck deep move your feet and grind their asses...
  12. I agree that this flyers team has great chemistry, they all seem to like playing together, the young guys seem to be making it fun for the older guys and the older guys are helping the young guys adjust to the life. i definitely think 20's absence has been a big factor, i don't think the "fun factor" would be the same if he were in the room all the time. i'm sure he wouldn't be going for any of that danged rap music either. I like this team, they're amongst my favorite flyers squads.
  13. the simmonds play on fleury was a clever little shot. 17 kind of dragged his skate through the crease , just kind of where fleury was standing and he sort of let his skate "bump" fleury... kind of like a an almost slew foot except it was from the side... it was definitely a sneaky dirty play, but i didn't see simmonds go after his knee. but hey maybe bylsma should have thought of that before he put him out there... now if kennedy had done that to Bryz. he should be shot.
  14. I don't remember that as much as do remember him saying the first briere goal was offsides at least 5 times. in fact he was calling it the offsides goal... which it was, but hey guy's gotta cherry pick when he falls down right ?
  15. @B21 i think that's about as close as you're going to get with grump... i'd take it. ;-)
  16. I thought that hit was on Adams... he's a little bit different animal than cooke.
  17. @B21 skip the middle man eh ? it happens... like i said, my memories of the Lube are from a different city and time. They were great, it was cool for me to see them in the burgh.
  18. yes he certainly is a bust. note the sarcasm font...
  19. Well to be fair the Lube that I know is in Sharon, Pa ... i think that is the original and that place was fantastic , in the days before cell phones. So the Lube wings in Pgh, are probably not of the same quality. when I had them at PNC it was a nostalgia trip for me so, they could have been aided by fond memories. I also loved the veal parm deal at the O. there was some good , bad eating in Pgh for sure.
  20. the first 10 minutes of that game had me wondering if the flyers stood any chance at all. the building was rocking the pens were flying around pucks were finding them. Crosby's goal was hard work but lucky, the staal kennedy play really had me worried. But then the kids realized what kind of game needed to be played and played it. I know the Pens have some great players but i think the flyer have more good players. Staal can't play 60 minutes a game if you put him out against G's line then that leaves either Danny or Read's line vs the Pens 4th and we'll win that all day everyday. I know the series isn't over but that win was satisfying, I thought as the game went on our speed and physicality started to show on those guys already. I thought Orpik looked slow and everybody saw Letang make a rushed bad play to end the game... and those are their two best.... Wellwood was awesome again that guy is almost a 2 man forecheck by himself. I like this flyers team .... a lot.
  21. @Phillygrump i always liked the roast beef and cheese, the capocola and cheese, the sausage and cheese (spicy). my friends used to rave about the corned beef and the genoa salami.
  22. Sean Couturier formerly known to me as mono boy. i think when he's out with Malkenstein he plays him even and on the odd chance that he's out against Staal's line, I think he shows the league what Jordan Staal 2.0 will be like. Max Talbot going against his old mates, he'll be extra specially motivated he has scored big goals and made big plays and contributions in previous playoffs, would not be surprised to see him tally a shorthanded goal or make a similar style big play.
  23. @BobDailey Dude It's Primanti's and they're fing delicious. the only thing better are the quaker steak and lube wings they sell at the sporting facilities.... i'm okay with all that other stuff, but leave the sandwiches out of it.
  24. Oh I know you're just poking fun and I thought those were some funny jokes.
  25. Those are funny, I like Pittsburgh though. Went to school on that side of the state and aside from the hockey team there's a lot to like, the people are friendly, the food is good, it's nice.
