  1. @NastyNate  I would love to see something outside the box here. Perhaps even a jersey without the logo. I've seen some artist renderings of a cracked Liberty Bell, thought that was kinda neat. Maybe a lighter version of orange with black borders.....something like that would very cool.

I'm down with something different as well but I can't picture anything other than the flyers crest on it. I'd even be happy of it was the winter classic jersey. That was a beautiful sweater in my opinion.

  2. What about letting Laughton develop his game in the AHL next year if he is going to be pegged to play on the 4th line where as he'd play first line minutes in the AHL.

I'm fine with that as well, but eventually he's gonna need a spot on the big club and if Schenn and Couturier continue to develop the way flyers fans hope and dream about than the only way he makes the team is if he switches positions. That could work as well, I don't know enough about Laughtons game to predict wether or not he can switch from center to wing, but from everything I've heard/read, he's better off sticking at center. I'm more or less just thinking out loud here, I'm curious as to what kind of deal we could make using Laughton as the main trade chip.

  3. why? and for what?

Because he doesn't have a spot on the team for the foreseeable future unless you want to give him 10 minutes a game on the 4th line and stunt his development. I'm not saying they should but if they could use him in some sort of package to get a legit winger to play with giroux and voracek than I'd be all for it. As I said before, I'm not sure he has much value at this point so I don't know what kind of deal would be possible. The flyers currently have a logjam at center and as long as giroux, vinny, schenn and couturier are here there is no room for Laughton. I suppose he could switch positions but I believe he's a natural fit at center if I'm not mistaken.

  4. I'm just curious as to what you guys are expecting out of Couturier next season. Are we looking at a huge increase in production, say 25 goals 35 assists? Or are we looking at steady increases in production for the next 4 or 5 years until he has it figured out? I guess there are no wrong answers as no one really knows how much his game will increase, just would like to know what fellow flyers fans think are realistic numbers from this kid...

    I'm expecting 15-20 goals and 25-35 assists.

The NHL’s first offer in its negotiations with the NHLPA was seen by many as a shot across the union’s bow. And with the league reportedly asking for a considerably larger split in hockey-related revenue from the players, the elimination of signing bonuses, as well as a salary rollback, predictions of a work stoppage are growing in number.

In fact, one source with knowledge of the players’ side of the negotiation is predicting not just a work stoppage, but an entire lost season.

“Last time around, the NHL made its salary cap proposal and barely moved off it,” the source, speaking under the condition of anonymity, told PHT. “This is not an initial proposal. The league is shutting down and it’s ‘come back when you’re ready to accept.’

“This is exactly what happened last time. You heard it here first, we will not play next year.”

    Granted, that’s just one opinion.

For most, it remains hard to imagine another lost season after the entire 2004-05 schedule was wiped out due to a lockout. Could the league and union really let it happen again?

It’s also still very early in the negotiations. The current collective bargaining agreement doesn’t expire until Sept. 15, and we’re only in July.

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly declined to comment on the above.

  6. If Eklund says it isn't, that makes it likely Homer is involved.

That's what I am afraid of. 4 years $30 mil is insane for a 35 year old 30 goal scorer. I would much rather wait until next year to spend the big bucks. Weber, Perry, Getzlaf...
