Just curious as to what your expectations/predictions are for the Flyers offseason strategy...
-
just thought i would throw this out there...everyone's favorite, eklund, is saying his "sources" tell him the flyers have interest in.....wait for it.......
JAY BOUWMEESTER.
oh boy...

If your question is a theoretical one, yeah I'd be ok with Read in a trade package over Schenn. But not this one.
I'm not really for this trade either, I was just saying IF it does go down, would you agree that Schenn CANNOT be involved? I would much rather we use our trade chips to acquire a defensman. But if this does actually happen, I prefer it doesnt include Schenn.

how would you guys feel about Read being apart of a deal? I like Read, but I would rather involve him then Schenn...
-
gross...
-
if i am Columbus I am asking for JVR, Schenn, Bobrovsky and probably a first rounder as well...
I hope Schenn isn't involved. still would prefer they go after a defensemen, preferably right handed as parise pointed out lol
-
You could ask Bill Meltzer:
as i said before, i am not saying or agreeing that there is any truth to it, but i am not gonna just ignore it either. we all know JVR is potential trade bait, i wouldnt be surprised if the flyers were involved in another blockbuster move including JVR...

This report by Eskin is complete hogwash and there is nothing interesting about it other than it shows how off base Eskin can be. There is a legitimate reason to delay the surgery. What's more, delaying the routine procedure JvR is going to have probably wouldn't delay a trade anyway. Finally, the "rumor" (if you want to dignify this crap as a rumor) is that JvR is being sent along with some other players for Rick Nash, a player the Flyers probably don't need at all who carries a $7.8MM cap hit. If Eskin knew more about hockey, he would have made up a more plausible "rumor" in which JvR is part of a package for Shea Weber.
Move along..nothing to see here.
and how do you know for a fact that this report is hogwash? i'm not saying it isn't, but i am not going to dismiss it either considering eskin has been right before with the flyers. why would he just make up some ******** rumor if he didnt have someone telling him that this is a possibility?
-
lol yea i mean im not saying he knows for sure whats goin on, just found it interesting considering JVR is still a valuable trade chip. obviously holmgren is going to deny it
-
JVR is pushing off a required surgery in order to block a trade, according to eskin. holmgren has since said the reasoning for the surgery being delayed is that JVR has an infection...interesting....

is there any one else left in the playoffs playing better then 28 right now? my god this kid has come on strong. he has taken the league over.
-
now if only someone could teach him to get a shot on net instead of hitting the defender square in the shin guards
haha yea dont get me wrong, i'm not saying hes the reason we won in 6, but he's logging a ton of ice time and played pretty solid D when needed. i know timmo is a fan favorite and every one loves to hate on carle, coburn always seems to fly under the radar. just wanted to show some appreciation.
-
-
theres a lot of love to spread around, i dont need to name the obvious. i wanna give some love to coburn. the flyers have been banged up all year on the back end. coburn might not be the most physical or dominant d man on the ice, but he is putting up a lot of ice time and deserves some credit as well. that is all.
carry on...
-
hey occams where about in south carolina you from? its not often i run into many flyers fans down here...
-
That was their best player Phil Kessel. that was nice . Didn't really notice him otherwise
was it kessel? if so then even more impressive. he really stood him up nicely. its unreal the amount of young talent this team has. it seems like they can call almost any one up and they will contribute.

i thought manning played well again tonight. had a nice play against a leaf in a 1 on 1 situation right in front of bry. thought he handled it perfectly. liking this kid so far...
-
what a game tonight. bryz was awesome! its crazy how all of a sudden i have all the confidence in the world in this guy. just goes to show you what a little bit of confidence in yourself will do for your game. he seems to be enjoying himself out there.
6 points back of the rangers. as zep pointed out, huge 2 games against the devils coming up. does bryz get the start tomorrow or does he need some rest?
and giroux's shootout goal....wow....so filthy.
-
and to get back to my original post, the rags lost again lost night...so lets get a W against the leafs and we'll be 6 behind ny.
its lookin like the penguins arent going to slow down either, so the rangers have to be hearing the footsteps a little bit...
-
You seem like you are a bit younger, but if you go get the Flyers top 10 games box set, there are games there from the spectrum and you will hear how loud it was. It was one of, if not THE, most intimidating place for opposition teams to play because of the fans.
i'm 26. never saw a flyers game at the spectrum but saw plenty of phantoms games there. and i really dont remember watching games at the spectrum on tv as the flyers were on prism back then and we didnt have prism. so all i really know is what the atmosphere is like at the wells fargo center. i have never been to a playoff game, so i cant speak on how loud it is for those (i would imagine its much more louder than regular season).
i know winnipegs arena is smaller compared to majority of the nhl. i believe the building only holds about 15,000, so that has to affect the acoustics of it as well.
and i'm not saying the fargo center isn't loud, it just doesnt really translate on the tv. when you watch a jets game compared to a flyers game on tv, it sounds so much more intense in winnipeg.
-
I wonder about the construction of that venue (ie whether the fans are that vocal, which I am sure they are plenty, or if its also the acoustic dynamics of the building.
i'm sure other buildings are as loud as well. but for whatever reason, winnipeg sounds exceptionally loud on tv. it would be nice to here the fargo center amp up to that level.
-
Wouldn't mind seeing NY travel into Winnepeg's first home playoff games in a generation to sputter their second season...
i really want to see winnipeg to get in just to see the atmosphere in that building. that building sounds crazy loud on tv. i'm sure it would be 10 times louder for the playoffs. would love to see that. plus they are tough at home and could be the perfect medicine to knock off a slumping rags team.
-
the rangers are 2-2-1 in the month of march. i havent checked the standings today but i believe the flyers are sitting 8 points behind them. with the flyers playing well and the rangers slumping with about a month left, is it possible the flyers overtake the division lead?
if i would of asked you this question even just a week ago the answer most likely would have been "keep dreaming"...not so much anymore, however.
i'm a firm believer in whoever gets hot at the right time has the best chance to make a serious playoff run. well the flyers are playing their best hockey at the most crucial part of the season, while the rangers look tired and have been a bit flat as of late. i wouldnt be shocked if the flyers continue this climb as the rags struggle.
i do know one thing is for certain. the next month of hockey will be extremely entertaining and im looking forward to every single game left on the schedule. the intensity has already picked up immensely. the playoffs have already started for the teams on the bubble. gotta love this time of year!
-
your a grown man. just tell them your tired and need a day to recharge the battery. besides, they cant ask you to go see twilight and really expect you to want to go see that. they have no right holding this against you. my gf doesnt even bother asking me to go see movies like that because she knows i have no desire to see it.
