or....maybe out there in the multiverse the Flyers have won 3 of the last 5 Cups
Who was the moron who took Provorov over Rantanen?
That 2015 draft is actually a great example of the perils of drafting. The Bruins had picks 13, 14, 15 and picked those right before Barzal and Connor. They got DeBrusk out of those picks.

All the wailing and gnashing of teeth over JVR's UNH days and they were gonna go Makar over a Canadian centre who they could put on the roster immediately?
The amazing thing is that people actually believe Clarke's Thursday afternoon quarterbacking on the issue.

I wonder why Charlie keeps saying what he is then?
He wrote an article about the situation on his discord and recorded a second pod saying the exact thing again.
odd.
Seems odd, indeed. Could be that someone is feeding him that information?

This is all on page 1 of google results. Not sure where O'Connor is getting his information...

I posted the podcast in this thread.
Charlie O'Connor has reported this repeatedly.
His previous deal was for $548,000.

Late breaking information…Minnesota offered Rossi for Gauthier.
If by "offered" you mean "a fan asked two writers on a show who said that Gauthier might have been something that could have convinced the Wild to move Rossi" then, fine.

Ya, thank God they're getting rid of those bad contracts so they can make room....for more bad contracts.
Certainly possible.
I'll decry it when it happens.
Er, if. Yeah, uh, "if" it happens.

Yes, but Peterson's deal brought in tangible assets. He was a means to an end. IF Fedetov flops, its not the same thing asset wise, its just a bad contract.
True, but it's still just cap space.
If the Flyers were at a point at which they needed space because UFA1 is coming out, then that's one thing. But that's not where they are.
After next season they drop Atkinson, Johansen, and Petersen. They also get TDA's buyout space back. That's $15M right off the top.
I'm not "happy" with the contract. I just don't see it as a harbinger of doom.

Every red cent of the cap has to be spent wisely.
They have more money than they're spending on Fedotov in dead cap space for Petersen in Lehigh.
This organization isn't looking to bank cap space at the moment.

I think they buy out Atkinson but just let Johnasen whither away not playing for Lehigh Valley or on LTIR.
I don't think Johansen can be bought out while he is "injured".
Point.
They may not do it, as they seem to be saying next season will be what everyone thought this season would be all about.

I think there is more at stake than just Fedotov. I think Michkov is watching how the Flyers act, if they screw Fedotov over by low balling him, why would he want to come to the team?
If they treat him fairly or in this case well... that serves to make the jump the NHL that much more enticing.
I don't think this signing was made in a vacuum.
I think the Flyers will need to continue recruiting the kid. I would not be surprised if this contract is part of that.
The same group that adamantly 100% insists that their treatment of Hayes had absolutely nothing to do with Gauthier bailing on them.
You're not wrong. It's just it's three dimensional Calvinball with this franchise.

They need to buy out Johansen and Atkinson. That's the correct move in this rebuild.
Opens up roster space, not much cap pain over two years that don't matter anyway.
Building for Michkov.

I will personally let @radoran cut my slice of crow as long as he has some good bourbon to wash it down with.
Hey, man, I'm just following the maxim of "if the glass is half empty, add ice - it's hockey."
And, yes, that's a bourbon reference.
And then there's this...

Noone complains when McDavid did it last night I won't complain when he does it then if he is helping the team when.
Torts and coaches made Risto look serviceable so maybe he can do the same with Trevor if he ever is a Flyer.
So, let me get this straight. Mr. "Can't Compare 22 and 27" is comparing Trevor Zegras straight up to Connor McDavid?
Put your analyst on danger money, baby.
Torts would staple Zegras to the press box in Week Two. His hockey name in Philly would be "Haysey".

Yes he was on the trainers table and the operating room table, multiple times.

Kid already has 2 60 point season at 23 on very bad Duck teams and Flyer fans are crying about defense.
Yep, and the first time he looks like Alex Ovechkin's NHL Controller GIF on a breakaway you'll be saying the same thing.
JVR hit 60 (30 goals) at 24.

Hard to compare a 22 year old to a 27 year old too.
No it isn't. I just did it.
I think the contract is a significant overpayment.
I'll see how Fedotov does and if he's Petersen-level then we've got a tank on our hands!

According to Seravalli, Byram was on the table from Colorado.
I'm guessing his significant concussion history didn't thrill the Flyers?
Kid has 164 games in four years and three major concussions.
"Often injured" Jamie Drysdale has 17 fewer games in slightly less time.
Not sure one is a clear pick over the other.
One thing's for sure, if they'd taken Byram there'd be somebody saying that Drysdale was on the table.

Charlie O'Connor's best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this fan who's going with this girl who asked two randos who thought the Wild might have considered offering Rossi for Gauthier three months ago.
You're right. I guess it's pretty serious.
