  1. @Poulin20 Wow that is pretty interesting. Puts this whole thing in perspective, no? I think this season is toast and am very concerned for the future of the NHL. No matter how many articles I read, I still hold the owners 99.999% responsible.
  2. @Irishjim Gotta love the Onion! Although the frightening part is that it's probably how his mind is operating......
  3. Danny scores a hat trick in his first game with the Berlin Eisbaren (polar bears): http://www.eisbaeren.de/meldungen/62-sieg-und-briere-hattrick/
  4. I hope it's true! I'm missing it already and it really hasn't been that long (except for the usual long summer). I hate to get my hopes up because everything else I read says they are still very far apart. Of course now that Jake's hurt...season will be starting soon Call it Flyers luck!
  5. @hf101 I was thinking about his kids last night as well. It seems he would stay here due to school and all but maybe his ex-wife is still in the area and they'll be living with her for the time being. The whole thing just sucks...get this lockout over with already.......
  6. This just keeps getting more and more painful! "Danny Briere and Claude Giroux are headed to Europe to play for Eisbären Berlin in the Deutsche Eishiockey Liga (DEL). Briere texted CSNPhilly.com this morning with the news. “No other comment,” Briere said. Berlin’s coach is Don Jackson, a former Ottawa Senators assistant coach. Briere and Giroux join goalie Ilya Bryzgalov (CSKA of KHL) and forwards Ruslan Fedotenko (Donbass of KHL); Jakub Voracek (HC Lev Praha of KLA); Wayne Simmonds (Eispiraten Crimmitschau of the Bundesleague); and Matt Read (Sodertalje of SEL). Scott Hartnell is also expected to make a decision on Europe by week’s end. Eisbaren Berlin is owned by Anschutz Entertainment Group which owns the Los Angeles Kings."
  7. I'd love to say I'd boycott completely but I love the game and our team and know I won't do it. I know I'll be watching as soon as they come back but I can say that I won't be spending any of my hard earned money by attending games, buying NHL related merchandise or anything of that sort. A drop in the bucket, sure, but it'll make me feel better.
  8. @hf101 Thanks for the articles, very interesting. I can't imagine that the league hasn't figured some of this out yet (or hasn't appeared to). I can certainly understand both the league and the players not wanting contraction but let's get real, some of these teams will never make any money and the enitre league is suffering from it. We tried it, it failed, let's fix it and move on. After that they can look at things a little more realistically. Parity is a great thing but means nothing when there is no season.
  9. It doesn't look good: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=406581
  10. @jammer2 I guess you never really know what you got until it's gone I cringe everytime I think that this may be another season without hockey! Looking at what happened with the NHL and the officials, I think there may have to be some major catalyst to get these guys off the dime! But what, they don't seem to care much about we fans
  11. @PHI Flyers10 Don't we all wish that Bryz could have those kind of numbers!!!!!
  12. Not to mention HBO's 24/7 and all the implies. What is he trying to accomplish? I think it's getting to the point where it is just egos now!
  13. @idahophilly - Great ideas all! I especially like the rule changes. Submit them and lets move on. I miss hockey already!!!!
  14. Thanks for the insight! I feel better now!
  15. Has anyone heard anything, or are they aware of why Voracek hasn't been signed yet? Thanks for any info!
  16. Pretty nice article about Giroux. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=633924 It's amazing that he still leads in points in the playoffs.
  17. We don't know what he's like in the locker room but I saw him lead in the last series, unfortunately it didn't appear that anyone was able to follow. In my mind he is one of the few who TRULY left it all on the ice!
  18. I get the impression that unless he feels he can be effective he won't be back. If he is true to his words, he will accept a diminished role/less $$ just to stay with the Flyers to finish out his career in the NHL. I do think his experience and attitude is an asset that we would have a tough time replacing with this young core. Of course if it is about the almighty dollar, he'll go where the money is. But I don't think so.
  19. @radoran I like your plan! Excellent!!
  20. Andrej Meszaros hasn't played since March 1, but if patterns are to be believed, there's a good chance he will return to the Flyers' lineup for Game 5. http://www.csnphilly.com/hockey-philadelphia-flyers/flyers-talk/Skate-Update-Meszaros-could-return-for-G?blockID=704238&feedID=704
  21. @SoCalFlyfan I'm with you on that! I don't think I can stomach Jeff Carter lifting the Cup after all the **** he's pulled. I had little respect for him as a Flyer and ZERO respect for him now.
  22. My official opinion is that they don't have to win tonight to win the series but it is not an option. I do think the Flyers will win the series and refuse to think anything different. As this series has moved along my feelings towards the Pens have gotten worse and worse. Let's kill them in front of their home crowd and make them shake our hands in a nice line at the end.
  23. I hope it is the opposite and the Flyers are so totally embarrassed and demoralized they come out and take it to the Pens in game 5. Of course if our goaltending continues as it is........
