  1. I am still not freaked out by any of the contracts....not my money :P ...but people are being awful hard on Streit. I am not that worried. Who's to say he won't stay a productive player until he is 40. Others have played until 40 or later and I haven't heard the concern from other teams fans about those players. I am very happy about getting Morin and Hagg. I am a very happy Flyers fan right now.

  2. Schenn, Couturier, Voracek, Simmonds, Laughton, Cousins all remain in the orange and black and system. Dead weight has been removed from the roster. The defense and the imagined lack of size up front have been addressed via free agency at cap friendly numbers. The situation in goal while not resolved can only be considered an upgrade, without throwing a pile of years and money at it. The high-ish draft picks resulted in adding 2 of the top 35 skaters in the world to our defense ? Our best player will not have a distraction regarding his expiring contract, okay it's for more money than we'd like but if 93pt G shows up no one will care that much.

Like @JackStraw mentioned somewhere here, the team is trying to have it both ways, keep the young promising guys and still ice a winning team. To my eye today it looks as if the management has pulled that feat off.

I like the moves the team has made, in 3 years more moves will be have to be made , no team is static or frozen in time, injuries occur, guys make surprising improvements or regressions. It is the nature of assembling a group of people to do anything.

The arnchair GMing is fun I enjoy the discussions we have, but I am finding it curious for so many to be so negative about this offseason's transactions.

Hey MJ...I am not convinced that this is it and we could very well lose one of the young guys in a trade to shed some cap space eg Coburn. I do hope Flyers Management does not ruin what has been a great week for the Flyers and their fans.
  3. So with this signing, I am trying to figure out what our game plan is for the future. Does this tell us we are going for it? Does this tell us that we are waiting for our young players to develop and just bidding the years away? I guess we will have to see the future moves of the team during and after the draft? After the buyouts. I am thoroughly confused as to the direction of the team.

  4. @murraycraven The part this is maddening is we were so close to just naturally being in that #5 slot. We don't pull the trigger on the Mason deal (which was great for the team, just not our draft slot) and we are probably picking 3-6. Sooooo very close. Now we are basically talking about giving up prized commodities because we got hot at the wrong time. No use crying over spilled milk, but damn, it's enough to make me pull what little hair I have left from my scalp!!!

Yes and there was a bunch of folks on here that couldn't see the big picture and couldn't handle losing some insignificant games late in the Season. I hope this people aren't crying now. It does aggravate me to no end.

  5. Yeah after watching Zadorov in the Memorial Cup, I am not as excited about him. I don't know anymore. I am still hoping for the miracle trade up to the top three somehow. Maybe we can trade Fedotenko again for a top 5 pick. :)

  6. @Mario99

I was surprised to not see Erne's name among the ISS top 30 that came out yesterday. I wonder what's that all about....Erne was a a 1st round pick throughout most of the year, usually in the top 20. I figured he'd go in that 15-22 range.

Tidbit of interesting connection between Erne and Nathan MacKinnon. Erne was a second round pick in the QMJHL draft of the Halifax Mooseheads. Rumours were Patrick Roy and his Quebec Remparts had a deal for him to come to Quebec Remparts. The Moose used this leverage to trade him to Quebec and with the return they got, Quebec's first round pick and more to Baie Comeau to get Nathan MacKinnon.
