May the Gods of hockey hear you. If there's an upset in round 1, I'm picking this one.
Never. Florida and Islanders are toast

Ok. I am all in on Vegas in the West. I certainly do not like the idea of Jack Eichel winning but its real and its going to happen. They have proven how good they are to me. They also have Alex Pietrangelo. So, I am taking Vegas over maybe Dallas in the West final. If thats possible? Not sure due to these brackets. In the old days it was best record vs worst down the line. The winner of Edmonton and Kings also has a shot to get to the West finals. So Vegas over one of them perhaps.
The East is tough after Boston. Or is it? I believe its either Boston or Toronto to come out. Solidly. Toronto knows how toL beat the Devils also. So do not think they can beat the Leafs.
I like Vegas vs Leafs or Boston. So Ill take a Vegas vs Toronto final. I want the Leafs to win. Of course it can be Boston vs Vegas also. Hmmmm.
So Vegas vs Boston or Toronto???
I so much want to pick the Leafs to win it all. But Ill take Vegas because they wont have quite as difficult a road to getting there.

Seattle was pretty good on the road and very good at home. Who saw this coming? The West was far weaker than in past years. That may have helped. This is another coaching job that deserves a long look. Colorado has been ripe all year. Seattle has a real shot here. Im taking them in 6 or 7.

Brad Marchand and Matthew Tkachuk in the same series. Cheap shots will be at bargain basement and the trash talk will flow. Is it possible to referee a series like this half-decently?
Florida has to know its a long shot to beat this Boston team. They wont. Boston in 4

FTR I hate the format that has top teams from the same division meeting in the first round.
Seeds should be based on the conference standings This is a match-up that would be better in a later playoff round.
Ah, memories of 1994. Talk about classics. Whether you are a fan of either team or not, that series was one of, if not the best I have ever seen. Messier guaranteed victory in game 6 and delivered. The Rangers would win the Cup vs Vancouver and Bure, and that was far scarier than most had assumed, myself included. The series between the Devils and Rangers was one for the ages in 94. Maybe some of the old Bruins vs Montreal series were right there with it? When Don Cherry coached and when Cheevers was in the nets. But that series in 94, the Presidents trophy winning Rangers vs a battle tested , and previous Cup winning Devils team that was loaded. Stevens on defense, one of hte all time best.
Now the new era matchup. Same old Devils playing their good defense. But no longer the classic trap team they were back then. I believe the Devils have too much defense and they win this series in 6. Lindy Ruff , I still have a hard time seeing him behind that bench. The longest tenured coach in Sabres history and one of the longest ever. Now he is up in age but still working his magic. He knows how to get players to like him. He is the type that has a sense of humor. Always. But he also has a tough side. This may be the finest job he has ever done along with 1999 when he almost pulled it off with the Sabres. Devils win, too much defense.

If defense wins, then take LA. This is McDavid and the Edmonton offense vs a pretty good shut down defense that is up there with Devils and Tampa. I am going to stick my neck out and pick the Kings to beat them. Edmonton has had its problems keeping the puck out but as of late they have been far better. I could be very wrong, as I do not understand for the life of me how the Kings had the season they did. If you look at them, just their roster, it doesn't strike fear in you like McDavid can. But they are tough to score on. If they themselves can score in this series, they can win.

This is maybe the toughest battle along with Devils and Rangers in round one. Mayne Seattle too? I just do not think Tampa are as good as they were even last year. The Sabres beat them last two, and Toronto was very tough opponent. I really fear Toronto as they have Matthews and Tavares and Marner. They can score

Some not-to-be-true bold predictions:
- If they beat Tampa, the Leafs will play the SC final
- No SC final for Boston
- Seattle for the Cinderella run
- Gustavsson will be the best play-off goalie
- Tarasenko will end up as a healthy scratch
- Carolina will lose in round #2
I agree with some of what you say. I have your Stars as my second pick behind Vegas in the West. Seattle I am cheering for but I am not sure they can beat Dallas or Vegas

I hope Seattle beat the hell out of them

Pulling for the Canes since I am a local now. Also as someone on this forum has pointed out multiple times, the Islanders are frauds and it really should be the Sabres in that playoff spot.
Thanks Kevyn Adams!!
Indeed. Carolina wins this easily

All valid points but does not change the fact that the two earlier loses to the Flyers, and those 4 points might have gotten the Sabres in the PO.
I’m blaming the crap goalies . The first loss to Philly the Sabres did not show up mentally and it was almost a protest to Luuk being sent to Rochester after he beat the Wild. The Wild then we’re tough

The Avalanche were hammered by injuries this season (plus depleted depth from key summer departures like Nazem Kadri and Andre Burakovsky). As a result, they didn’t score as much as usual (especially at five-on-five) nor did they defend as well. Georgiev doesn’t have much playoff experience.
If there is a series where an upset could be had, I believe this might be it. The Kracken have surprised everyone by making it to the playoffs in there 2nd year. Seattle made the playoffs despite a team save percentage of .886 which is a credit to the skaters but an indictment of the confidence they should feel between the pipes.
So who do you take Georgiev or the Grubauer/Jones Combo?
Going to take the Avs in 6 ......
Grubaur and I’m picking Kracken and certainly cheering for them

No Tage Thomson yet they still won. Last visit here was a 9-4 Sabres win with Thompson scoring at least 4 as I remember. So they win 42. 9 Games above 500 and the garbage Islanders squeezed by us. If only Adams had realized he needed a netminder far earlier. Now they have Levi. I wonder what he will do with Luukenen? I think if worst comes to worst, he is ok as the backup but I would prefer a battle tested veteran. As for who is moved? Not sure how much Okposo has left? But Greenway and Stillman are head scratchers to me. The guy is 6'6" or 6'8"? I forget which. But he does not play like it that often. His highlight was that one handed goal he scored. I just cant see him landing a spot on a young talented team but we do need guys like this that are big and gritty to go with the speedy skilled guys. Its hard to say what Adams does with him and Stillman. As for Stillman? I really have no idea. But he is not Dahlin or Power. Has not the skill to get points on a consistent basis. Samuelson is a keeper. I never thought Id say this but maybe Jokuharu stays? I am not sure if they are even in the draft lottery? For now i move on to follow my Orioles. 6 months until the Sabres play again. I expect this team to be better next year as the young guys here should do well. Guys like Jack Quinn and Paterka and Owen Power. I am really not sure where Olofsson fits in? I think he was a bit of a disappointment. More was expected of him. Have to be delighted with the line of Thompson, Tuch and Skinner. All three had great seasons. Only injury kept Thompson from scoring 50. And Tuch and Skinner are in the mid 30's. Not bad. Cozens proved his worth as did Quinn and Paterka. Adams has work to do.

Something is very wrong here. CBS has Colorado vs Seattle? So who is correct? And Dallas vs Minnesota. So the matchups are incorrect?

Colorado is far from the team they were last year. ill take the Kracken to oust them

Maybe if the Sabres didn’t lose 2 out of 3 games to the Flyers this year, they would have made the playoffs
Sabres blew them out last game. Want to compare how both did all year? I’ll bet you now we finish higher next year

Matthew’s has always been a piece of work.
Lucky you. One place I’ve never been to but I know many who love it there. I have a friend there that is a Philly fan. All sports. So the Sabres look to end 9 games over 500 and 41 or 42 wins! Not bad, and good enough if in the West and should be in, as we beat Islanders and can tie them in points tonight. It’s crap how they did that. Head to head should mean more if you’re tied. The Sabres would be a more dreaded foe with a new goalie and the ability to score for even Boston. I think the Leafs are the only team that can beat them in East. I’m going Vegas and Eichel to win

Has to have the last word. He sent me a thank you letter back a few years because I gave him an autographed memorabilia from 1951 Red Wings. He is into baseball ️
