If Ovechkin catches Gretzky, credit his massive edge in OT goals

But as your linked article points out, Gretzky played in the 5-on-5 OT era.  Ovie enjoys having less players cluttering the ice.  And despite Ovie’s 24-2 lead over Wayne, where it matters more, in playoffs, The Great One outshines The Great Eight hands down 4 to 0.

The OveSter needs a real nickname.  (Something without “Ov” in it.  And something more natural than “the great eight”.)

OK, so he scores “in his office” here yet again.  That guy be in his office all the time.  And he’s going to work for the same employer from “cradle to grave” as the expression goes.

THE COMPANY MAN

P.S.  Nice to see the “just the goal” clip. Really nice.  Nobody really cares if Washington wins any given game* just so long as Company Man keeps getting his jobs done in a satisfactory and consistent manner.

* as long as they get into the top eight in the East by the end

Gretzky's office was behind the opponent's net.

  • 2 weeks later...

Yeah, going 2-8 in their last 10 (but with 3 extra ‘you got to OT’ participation half-a-win points), The OveSter is really the only story for now in Washington.

But it looks like Das Kapitals will be one of those ‘middling crew’ can they eke in stories near The End.  (As long as they can start averaging 6-4 in upcoming 10-game stints.)
