flyercanuck
Barrie went into Oshawa last night and put the final nail in the coffin, a 4-2 victory to end the series with a 4-0 sweep. That makes 2 4-0 sweeps in the first 2 rounds. And without 3 of our top 7 scorers. Aaron Ekblad scored in his 2nd consecutive game and was first star. This guy is almost 2 years younger than Seth Jones. This guy is the same size as Jones. This guy is who we want next year in the draft. jammer2
Congrats on the sweep! The brand new Hockey News Futurewatch came out this week, and the give Sam Reinhart the early edge over Ekblad. These things can change quick with kids this young....but Sam is ranked #1 by THN right now at least. Has bloodlines on his side, Dad Paul played in several NHL All Star games, and Sam's two brothers Griffin (high first rounder last year) and Max (Flames prospect) are highly thought of. Looks like all 3 will be playing in the NHL at some point, so another hockey family bursting unto the scene. Apparently Sam has a late birthday, so he will have 3 full WHL seasons under his belt by the time his name gets called. Some nice (but not earthshattering QHL type numbers...lol) respectable stats in his 16 year old and 17 year old seasons in the WHL. Still think Ekblad has the edge though, franchise D-men do not come around all that often, hard to pass up that kinda talent. flyercanuck
@jammer2 I'm just dreaming about if the stars aligned in the Flyers draft galaxy. Ekblad is the smartest player I've seen on Barrie and he just turned 17. Imagine our D in 5 years if we got Jones or Nurse this year and Ekblad next? Of course we'd end up with Nichushkin this year who'll decide to just stay in the K forever and Reinhart. We could end up the only team in the league with centers playing every position.
