yave1964
The Carolina Hurricanes fired coach Kirk Muller after 3 years of futility, His final record was 80-80-27 and he failed to reach the playoffs in any season. New GM Ron Francis acknowledged that Muller's tenure wasn't exactly conventional by any means -- he came in a few months into the season in 2011, then faced a lockout-shortened season in 2012 and his third season was an Olympic year. "You look at a lot of things and you watch the team over the course of the year, I just felt at this point going forward, we needed a fresh start," Francis said. While it is too early to say who the coach will be an interesting name that Francis has said he would be interested to consider is Rod Brind'Amour. There is no timetable but Francis says he would like acoach in position before the NHL draft.
blocker
Kirk was a great hockey player. Red Fisher described his play as "Kirk is work". He left it on the ice every shift. But, his idea of being a captain included "screaming in the locker room" nightly. I wonder if he coached the same way he captained.
