hf101
Flames invested in T J Brodie's talent yesterday with a new five-year, $23.25 million contract extension. The Flames are paying Brodie for what they think he can do, not what he's already done. The 24 year old defenseman became an unsung hero of the Flames defense last year while paired with Mark Giordano. Both Brodie and Giordano are underrated possession players and bring a strong, puck-moving quality to the Flames defense. He flew under the radar in part because the Flames were not particularly good last season. I think this duo is quickly becoming one of the best first line defensive pairs in the league and now both signed to be together for a number of years.T J Brodie is off to a hot start this year, with six points in six games after picking up 31 in the 81 games he played in during 2013-14. jammer2
@hf101 T.J grew up pretty close to me. Yet another bright star to come out of our area. Nice to see him develop into a legit NHL'er...he played for the Leamington Flyers, the league below the OHL for a few years.
