briere48 Posted April 8, 2015 Share Posted April 8, 2015 if voracek wants crosby money, giroux has to be dealt, you cant have 64 million tied to two players, it puts you in serious cap problems, not to menion the other players on this team would want raises. giroux is not worth 8 million, he's a 20 goal scorer, we have other players on this team that has scored more goals on this team than giroux and they are making less money than giroux, if giroux was scoring 50 goals like ovi, i wouldnt hesitate to keep giroux and trade jake. forget about giroux has done in the past, what's he done for us today? this team is not playing any better with him or without him. yes coaching is a major problem but giroux hasnt done anything that makes a difference, voracek is making a huge difference than giroux. the difference is he scoring more on 5-5 than giroux. Just for shits and giggles you do know that G is in the top 10 IN THE ENTIRE NHL in scoring right? Fact... just look it up. He is nearly a point per game player this year. Seriously, if you think G is the problem go watch tennis. The best player in the world has 3 more goals than G this year... another true story. One last fact that might be considered - Jake actually has LESS goals than G this year. For all that keep wondering about the salary cap - when in recent history have the Flyers NOT been in a tough cap position? This is a topic of discussion every year it seems. The first task is firing Berube - period. Then look to the draft and bet your ass you make the right picks... Look to get a true winger to play with G & Jake. Sign White to an extension... Try and get MDZ on a bridge... Most likely one of the young defensive prospects will be in the lineup next year. This is not a total rebuild it is more along the lines of retooling and *IF* Hextall can find a way to move VLC it only helps close the window on becoming a non-playoff Team again. I realize this has been a bad year but blowing things up is not what is needed. You have 2 legitimate superstars in G and Jake. Secondary scoring and toughness with Simmonds (on a good contract) yet it remains to be seen what the ceiling is with Coots and Schenn. I realize the sky is always falling in Philly but they are not that far off from being a playoff Team. Will the same roster get it done next year - absolutely not. A few moves could put this Team back into the playoffs and 2-3 years this defense is going to be completely different. Until then the defense merely needs to be competent in front of Mason.
