Can't play Chicago like we play Dallas

Lessons from the Chicago game:

1. Don't give Chicago 5-on-3 power plays. Kronwall took a very stupid hooking penalty to give them a 2-man advantage. Can't do that. A veteran should know better. Gotta be more disciplined than that.

2. IF we give up a 5-on-3 PP to Chicago, 2 guys high, one guy low on the PK = gimme goal for Chicago. Chicago's PP unit must have had trouble controlling salivation when they saw or defensive formation. Did it even take them 15 seconds to score into a wide open net? Bad coaching move here for sure, even though Thaves' pick on Dekeyser was illegal. Too much risk anyway.

3. We CANNOT try to play a wide open offensive game with Chicago like we did with Dallas. Dallas' defense is questionable. Chicago's is not. Crawford is at the top of his game. Niemi's not playing like Crawford. We MIGHT match Chicago speedwise, but if we play wide open like that, we can't play the D we need to to counter Chicago's potent offense. We've got to play more disciplined in order to have a chance. We can get away with that against a team like Dallas sometimes--not all the time, mind you--but we will lose most games playing this way against Chicago.

4. We do not want to face Chicago in the playoffs. Try to catch them in the later rounds and let someone else hopefully eliminate them before we meet. Who's gonna do that, I have NO idea, but it's not gonna be us.

5. On the positive side, offensive creativity is much improved with the addition of AA. It's like we were rejuvenated. Even though our PP didn't score, it looked MUCH better as far as puck movement goes. Tats and Nyke were more active. AA is a very welcome addition.

First game back home after a couple of tough road wins, usually considered a 'setup game' where bad things can happen. And they did.

Sooner forgotten, the better off we are. Nice to be off til sunday to get rested up, that doesnt happen much this time of year.

Rest didn't do us much good.

There's a reason they's been the champs so many times recently.  Stan Bowman has put together the team and Joel Quenneville has made it shine.  The 'Hawks just look so damn good out there.  The Wings could have been at the top of their game and still probably would have lost both of them.  I guess the bright spot is that both games happened back to back, and now they're over.  We can look forward to the upcoming schedule....Blue Jackets, Leafs, Flyers....Must-Win games to get those points back and try to go back up in the standings a bit.
