Kings Redeem LA
I don't remember whether I heard this on a YouTube video, a TV show, or what--but it's stuck in my noggin forever, so I figured it's about high time to share it: As some of you may already know, Mike Bossy refused to fight because he thought it was a net negative for the game. One night, when a particular overactive team was ramming him in the back, like other scumbags of the time, Bossy still didn't capitulate to the temptation to brawl. But he did make them pay: The Isles were up 3 to 1. And Mike said to himself that if his opponents were gonna be so belligerent, then he'd go out there, with hockey skills not related to throwing punches , and beat them even worse. He scored two goals in 90 seconds, the game finishing 5 to 1 with an Isle victory. Although I do like legitimate physical hockey in the flow of play, I (mostly like Mike) usually don't care for fighting. One rare exception would be in my youth when I watched Wendel Clark hold his own against Marty McSorley. I thought it was cool that Mike Bossy delivered a beatdown through doubling a goal-scoring deficit, refraining from giving his opponents what they wanted: a fight; and giving them what they definitely didn't desire: an even-worse loss. He's a legend who continually deserves a thread or two giving him props. ----Get 'em, Mike! Thanks for all the legendary memories! In Case Ya Don't Know: Mike Bossy Position: RW • Shoots: Right 6-0, 186lb (183cm, 84kg) Born: January 22, 1957 (Age: 60-194d) in Montreal, Quebec ca Draft: NY Islanders, 1st round (15th overall), 1977 NHL Amateur Hall of Fame 4x Stanley Cup Champion 3x Lady Byng Winner [...no real surprise there, yeah? ] 8x All-Star 1977–78 Calder Winner 1981–82 Conn Smythe Trophy [go here for more: https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/b/bossymi01.html ] And dig this goal among goals:

It was a Saturday and the folks at CBC cut away from the Leafs game to show that famous goal.....Ron McLean was as thrilled as I was to see it actually happen. Hockey history, forever locked away in our cherished memories!!
