CreaseAndAssist
Washington Capitals' defenseman Brooks Orpik retires. Over 1,000 NHL games played...hangs up the axe.
TropicalFruitGirl26
((yawn)) About time. Granted, Orpik had been a more than useful, old school style hitter in his prime and even a bit later into his career. But I'd say over the last two seasons, he has been more of a defensive liability than anything else. And since he isn't (never was) an offensive scoring threat, that pretty much left him with nothing left in the tank. At 37, 38, yes, he can leave with his head high as he had a great NHL career, having raised two Cups. Good luck and quality of life to him afterwards, but yea...it was well past time he called it a career.
