  1. Dig!!! I love throwback gear. That being said... I agree with AlaskaFlyerFan- How much does that hurt?!?!? You can order new, modern stuff with the retro look but with more protection. I used to use the very cage you're wearing as a half cage (without the chin cup). I'd recommend a Sportmask Mage RS- retro look with modern protection. How much do those leg pads weigh after a game?!?!? Damn!!!!!
  2. I see what you're saying, and 9/10 times it results in a save. But then again, it's showboating, which can be unsportsmanlike. Then there's the possibility of the unsportsmanlike conduct with the snow shower. Heck- let's get rid of the shoot out (yeah, right!).
  3. I tried sticking a Combat tapered blade into a tapered stick, and noticed that the blade was loose. I know it's been a long while since I have done this, but a bit of hot glue on the hosel made it right as rain. But I notice Easton sells hot glue separately, so it's a good thing with the way the factory doesn't supply hardly any glue on blades these days... Rant over.
  4. True dat, but the spin-o-rama could be construed as unsportsmanlike, which brings me to this: Word. From a tradition standpoint, I agree. But I don't hate the shoot out. Just me, I s'pose.
  5. While I don't quite agree with snow showers being unsportsmanlike conduct, it is in game rules. Why shouldn't it be in a shoot out? Consistency is what i ask. Spin-o-rama usually ends up with some lack of forward motion. I drew many penalties with a snow shower, myself. Usually those resulted in a minor served by a defenseman and a goalie (by someone else), as i would draw two roughing minors. but that was long before the banning of snow showers.
  6. Back in the day, we wore the original Cooper cat eye cages until we could take off the chin cup, effectively making it a half cage. I never found any full coverage stuff that I liked. I had to do full coverage until I got into juniors. Maybe the Oakley visors would be good. they are a pricey bit of kit, however.
  7. Snow showering was always unsportsmanlike conduct. I don't care how many times you've been sprayed, you never quite get used to it. I, for one don't hate the shoot out, and I have had several people tell me how much they like the shoot out. But the spin-o-rama should be banned in the shoot out, period.
  8. I know some rinks won't be cool with my set up, so I will try to find the wire cage/visor combo (somebody still makes that, right?) that wasn't in my experience that bad in the fog department. Maybe the Bauer (formerly itech) rbe isn't as foggy. I used to use the old Cooper cat eye cage without chin cup as a half cage, but then sanctioning bodies cracked down on those I remember. I pretty well got out of sanctioned hockey not long after that point.
  9. One has a poorly cut Dorothy Hamil. It is stiff and weird. I am a hair dresser by trade, but my days of hair critiques are over except when I see something exceptionally good or bad. Two women had downright bizarre hair, for certain!!!!
  10. I need an infants Blues sweater.
  11. Don't like visors- too foggy. Don't like a full cage- too restrictive. I like the half cage. Who else likes the half cage?
  12. Dude-I have a dumb phone... Need to aks wifey to take pix of dese womens...
  13. Weirdly curled hair on the skating coaches at my local rink- what is up with that?!?!? No MILFs, either...
  14. @AlaskaFlyerFan Cool display, matey!!!!
  15. That's my Trix- 10 years old and still feisty!!! VM's in anything less than great (not mint) condition are hard to find these days. The plastics are quite flimsy. It is rumoured Gretzky would use no fewer than ten lids per year. The cork in the top is an unusual touch on these lids. Mine was ragged after two years of stick and puck time and not one bit of contact! If you can find an NOS lid, that's your best bet. But you will pay for one.
  16. I am not a fan of the pre-staged fights. Those are silly. But trying to ban fights in retaliation for cheap shots is ridiculous. I had no problem dropping the gloves when a teammate was dropped by a cheap hit or after the puck was clearly off of my line mate's stick. If I was dropped by a blindside hit, you had better believe the next shift I play ended with five for fighting. I wasn't terribly big. But I would say my concussions were from cheap hits. Of course some of them were deserved- being the small-ish pest trying to draw penalties tends to get a few cheap shots in retaliation. The heavy-weight style fighting is ruining the intensity of a good game. The enforcers just negate each other rather than do what they're supposed to do: protect their teammates. Now that I am lacing up the skates again, I have no intention of playing like I used to. First off, I can't skate like I used to. Second, my days of getting into the NHL are long past. Thirdly, I have a day job to return to after the games. I don't watch for the fights, but if they get rid of fighting, I can't say that NHL hockey is a must-see for me.
  17. As far as what I miss about the old stuff, I miss the simplicity of the old shoulder pads. The pair I just bought are light weight. But I do like Coolmax and the silver thread in the newer stuff. I don't miss the heavy, water-logged and frankly difficult to break in gloves in the least. And I am very, very happy that the hard shoulder and elbow pads were banned- those things were freaking weapons!!! What was on the companies' minds putting carbon fibre on shoulder and elbow pads a few years back? I also miss the old-skool CCM helmets and Jofa VM helmets (though I wouldn't want to take a slapper on the head in one!). I wish I had my old Northland helmet. But the new ones are much cooler and lighter.
  18. @TretiakCCCP20 - it seems to be Flyers fan dominated around here, but in the end I love all of the teams as they are part of the Coolest Sport on Earth. Cool avatar you have there.
  19. I missed the Cracknell and Porter line last night. But Morrow was looking pretty darned good last night...
