  1. @jammer2

Yip. And they'll likely either have to overpay to keep him or let him walk.

the sad thing is he was better in the like 15 games he played then clarkson has the entire season yet we wont be able to pay him what hes likely wanting because we paid clarkson so much

  2. not bad what happened to guys making there own thing like cujo with the dog or felix the cat potvin's mask eddie the eagle and they would just change it to the teams colors, now it seems like they slap on the team logo and add a few personal touches that has to do with the city they are in and thats it.

  3. I thouht Carlyle was smarter than that, but apparently not. Stupid comment at a very inopportune time.

i think hes was just pissed after reimer let in one he should have had but i mean the defense doesn't play defense when your goalies face 40+ shots every single night its going to be hard to pull out a win, but at the same time if he stuck to the tandem instead of just making reimer the back up he would be a lot more in the zone.

  4. I think if Reimers confidence level wasn't at zero from Carlyle never playing him unless he felt bernier needed a break we would be fine, I feel bad for reims he has his flaws like rebound control but Carlyle treats him like hes a backup goalie at best and now hes starting to play like one.

  5. I'm not arguing the Bruins will win out in the long run with the prospects and what not... but again, player for player, Seguin has taken off, Kessel has done very well with Toronto now...  Erickson has been injury laden and though Smith has been good but not on par with Kessel and Seguin.

Yes Boston won a Cup, but they may very well have done that with Kessel as well, or maybe two.  Or a second with Seguin.  I don't attribute a team achievement to the individual deals.

When comparing the deal, I think it's safe to say both sides won, much as the article @Vanflyer posted states, because Boston will reap the rewards for the near future.  But on a pure player vs. player comparison, Boston has very little to show for it on their roster right now.

    Agreed pretty much bang on

  6. Well, sure - and that's always a possibility (I note that in the second to last line). The Cup Playoff is the best annual tournament in the world.

But, let's take that to the next level, then.

Straight seeding, say all of the lower seeds (as current) win. Your team is then hosting Columbus in the Conference Semis.

In this scenario, if they beat Pittsburgh, they're visiting a squad (Flyers or Rangers) that had a worse record than you.

i almost wish they would just say screw divisions when it came to playoffs most points plays least points the whole way screw the wild card and top teams in there division

  7. hmmm.worried?  when is the last time the Leafs made it to the second round?

2004 i think against the flyers roenick ended it that was the last time they made it past the 1st round i believe

  8. Just for the record, I pretty much hate this "system."

If the season ended today (we would all be very surprised) and there was a straight seeding method, Tampa, for example, with the fourth best record in the conference would host the Leaes. In this scenario, they are visiting Montreal (third best) and Tronno - with the fifth best record in the Conference - draws the Pens (#2) in the first round.

The Flyers - with the sixth best record in the Conference - host the Rangers (seventh). If the Flyers had the fourth best record and didn't have "home ice" I'll wager there would be some gnashing of teeth around here.

It's something of "bad luck" for the league that it is working out this way in the first year, but it is giving a lower-ranked team a potentially easier road to the Conference championship - potentially needing to face only one top seed.

Flyers, for example, could get there by facing the 7 and 5 seeds (if Tronno beats Pittsburgh) or 7 and 2. Tampa could have to beat 3 and 1 (could potentially be 3 and 8).

Further, there is a real possibility that all three teams from one division could have worse records than the other division...

i get where you are coming from but i look at the playoffs as a whole new game anyway iv seen 8th seeded teams dominate a top seeded team all comes down to what team wants it more

  9. i also agree they lack there intensity i really wish they made a big push and kept Komorov around he was like the finish darcey tucker the guy was just always involved in the play even though he didn't put up all the points he was in your face he hit everything and if given the chance could score. Orr and mclaren are useless. As for Carlyle i dont hate him but i dont love him either even though we played like crap at the time one of my more current favorite coach was paul maurice. The one think i hate that Carlyle has done so far is the way he has treated Reimer...yes Bernier has played better but Reimer is still a good Goalie and deserves more playing time, he just treats him like Bernier is now his goalie your the back up so tuff and were probably going to trade you in the off season anyway attitude

  10. Ugh.... that is worse.   It is what it is I guess... I will enjoy the games in the comfort of my home w/ cold beer and a big screen TV w/ surround sound... lol!

im the same way thought it is a very nice treat when my work gives me great tickets to a leaf game and being in the arena atmosphere. I i personally would never pay the $200+ per ticket my work gives me to go see a game its crazy.....at least in toronto it is a buddy of mine moved out to Calgary and he was a big flames fan he laughed at how awesome tickets were there this one bar i think he said it was like $50-$60 you get a pitcher of beer a pound of wings a ticket to the game and a ride there from the bar and a ride back to the bar.....now thats awesome, im sure the seats wern't the greatest but still

  11. My take on fighting in today's era is that as long as it is a heat of the moment fight then its all good, but this sending out a goon or 4th line guy and the other team doing the same and them fighting is just stupid. Goalies fighting is retarded.....im not disputing that its entertaining but if i want to be entertained by fighting i will go watch UFC. In baseball when the benches clear everytime there is a fight i laugh at how un professional and stupid/childish it is so im sure big baseball fans look at hockey in the same light when it happens. Back in the 70's etc when the ref's seem to do absolutely nothing u needed a goon to protect your best players they game is so much different now, the league reviews everything and refs call everything (for the most part) so having a guy that does nothing but fight is stupid.

fights i like - 1 players has been all over the other player all night they battle hard finally hits a breaking point they drop the gloves (awesome)

fights i hate - puck drops at a face off 2 players immediately drop gloves and start fighting (dumb)

other fights i hate - guy lands awesome CLEAN body check on opposing player, opposing players teammate feels the need to come fight the guy that laid the body check....this one is probably my biggest pet peeve, checking is part of the game and if i guy gets nailed (CLEANLY) then there is no need to go and fight that guy in his honor

  12. i like Strombo hes was great on much music back in the day his show is successful, Ron is just a legend and its hard picturing anyone taking over for him. My concern is the respect though Mclean was never a player hes at least been involved in the Game being a referee etc, but George is a smart guy and does his homework so i think he has what it takes to do well in the job.

The guy that does need to go is don cherry i used to love listening to this guy as a child now i turn him off cause listening to him is like going and visiting my senile grandpa and listening to stories about him in nam lol

  13. @JackStraw

It blows my mind that someone who looks as out of shape as Kessel does can skate the way he can.

hes actually pretty fit iv met him and he just for whatever reason has a pudgy face its funny too he always looks small when you watch him play but hes over 6' i was shocked cause im 6'2"
