  1. okay...I'll bite...I just read something about PK Subban? The kid has talent..tons of it. I also here he's a major head case and locker room problem. Any truth to the those rumors?
  2. @flyercanuck I'm pissed that everyone always sucks up to Superman when they pull these stunts. I mean, c'mon..there is a whole list of super heros to chose from, but everyone takes the easy way out and does a "Superman". BORING! I want someone to dress up as Aquaman...now that would be impressive.
  3. Correction..we lost Jagr, to the same groin injury. Rinaldo left..not sure what. And now Briere. 3 forwards in one game. Not to mention JVR-indefinitely at this point. And Pronger. WOW.."shakes head"
  4. Bad defense isn't the only cause of him being 67 out of 77 goalies in SV%. The defense is bad, but so is Bryz right now. A lot of it is on him-for whatever reason(s). He needs to get better-QUICK, or the drums will only beat louder in Philly. A weak goal a game is not going to endear him to fans..and right now, that's about what he's been giving up.
  5. Anyone got video of the hit? The Ontario Hockey League suspended Niagara IceDogs defenceman Dougie Hamilton for 10 games Thursday. Hamilton, who played for Canada at the world junior hockey championship, received the ban for a shot to the head of Sudbury left-winger Michael MacDonald in Niagara's 5-2 victory over the Wolves on Jan. 13. MacDonald skated into the IceDogs' zone and had his head down as he tried to regain control of the puck after it was been poked free by a Niagara defenceman. Hamilton connected with MacDonald's head and moved his elbow up into the check, sending the Wolves' captain hard to the ice nearly three minutes into the third period. Sudbury announced on Jan. 17 that MacDonald would be out indefinitely with a concussion. The OHL said Hamilton would be banned for 10 games because it was a check to the head of a vulnerable opponent that resulted in an injury. In-game officials gave Hamilton a two-minute penalty for a check to the head. He and Wolves right-winger Derek Schoenmakers earned two-minute penalties for roughing immediately after the play.
  6. I met Souray last year, when he was in Hershey. He was hurt/scratched and was sitting in the family section..with Mrs Souray. I was never so disinterested in speaking to a professional hockey player! Just wanted to oogle his wife for a while. He was/is a really nice dude. Talked to my kids at length..especially when he heard my one is a D-man.
  7. I think this applies to most of us who are married and work in a high-stress environment. I talk like a drunken sailor on New Year's Eve around the office. Not so much at home....
  8. So, in over 4 months, his knee doesn't feel any better? I say it's highly unlikely that he plays again this year. In addition, his knee failed a physical in Montreal; all joking aside about the Flyers medical staff, if it hasn't improved, I doubt he passes a physical here either.
  9. Move him to wing, and trade that piece of sh!t Semin. Green was always a forward masquerading as a D-man anyway.
  10. We all need to pray for this. It would remove a HUGE issue, and allow these team some flexability they currently do not have. Panaccio was on Philly Daily News Live last night, and he said he things Pronger will attempt a comeback next season. But he also said that he has not improved at all in over 2 months, and may never play again. I understand the intent of the over 35 rule, but think it was a bad way to go about it. There are other ways to prevent salary cap circumvention, without penalzing older players.
  11. @AJgoal Thanks, AJ..I checked before I posted this, but missed his name on the list. DOH>
  12. Is there a reason he's not on LTIR? He failed his physical in Montreal, so I would assume that would give the Flyers reason to LTIR him. No?
  13. @s3x I am not in the buyout camp at this point, but if it were happen it woudld be after this season...the CBA is up after this year, and the new one needs to be in place prior to next season starting. Any buyouts without penalties/cap implications-if allowed-would logically happen after the new CBA is agreed to, but before the next season starts.
  14. Where is aziz..why is the cap hit so high for 2 years, in the buyout scenario?
  15. I know it's a different thread, but when he called Malkin, "the ugliest player in the league", I about pissed myself I was laughing so hard.
  16. I love the last sentence....what a MAROON! A fan who threw a banana at a black player during an NHL exhibition game has been fined $200. Christopher Moorhouse lobbed a banana at Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmondsas he was approaching Detroit Red Wings goalie Jordan Pearce during a shootout in the Sept. 22 game in London, Ontario. The 26-year-old Moorhouse pleaded guilty Monday but did not appear in court. Moorhouse was charged with a provincial trespassing and given 90 days to pay the fine. Police said there wasn't enough evidence to charge Moorhouse with a hate crime. Moorhouse's lawyer, Faisal Joseph, has said his client didn't know hurling bananas at black athletes could be seen as hateful.
  17. Here's your 2nd, Digity...was reading this thread when you posted. I think the Flyers will choose #2; however, I personally like option #4.
  18. @OzFlyer Cool...thanks. I follow a few writers as well, I will add him to my list.
  19. NEW YORK -- The NHL Winter Classic between the host Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Rangers was the fifth-most watched regular-season NHL game in 37 years. New York's 3-2 victory Monday at Citizens Bank Park, the fifth edition of the outdoor game, averaged 3.74 million viewers to NBC, according to fast national data provided by Nielsen Media Research on Tuesday. The game produced a 2.1 rating and 4 share, tying the 2010 game. Last year's prime time game had a 2.3 rating and 4 share. The rating this year grew every half hour from 5 p.m. EST until the end of the game. The 2010 game, featuring the Flyers at Boston's Fenway Park against the Bruins -- the previous Winter Classic played during the afternoon -- was watched by 3.68 million. Last year's game was postponed into a night game because of rain at Pittsburgh's Heinz Field. The matchup between Alex Ovechkin's Washington Capitals and Sidney Crosby of the Penguins drew 4.5 million viewers, the most-watched, regular-season NHL game since 1975. This year was the first time the Winter Classic was played on Jan. 2 instead of New Year's Day. The start time was pushed back from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. because of weather conditions. Philadelphia led all markets with an 11.9 rating and 21 share, almost doubling the 6.0 rating and 11 in 2010, when the Flyers made their first appearance in the Winter Classic. New York had a 4.3 rating and 9 share on Monday as the Rangers made their Winter Classic debut. That tied Washington for the fifth highest local market rating.
  20. @OzFlyer Hey Oz, Where did you read that? Just curious..I heard he was sent back, but not that he was hurt.
  21. I am thinking/hoping that ridiculous clause goes away as well. if it does, and you can buy-out those contracts, without reprocussions, the Flyers are going to have a very tough decision on their hands. Then again, if there is no buyout limitation..but them all out and hand Homer another $10 million/year to spend! Speaking of which, did anyone see the blog where people are already predicting another lock-out? Comforting, isn't it? With Fehr running the NHLPA, it's hard to picture this being a "normal" negotiation.
  22. Since we are talking buyouts, suppose each team is allowed one under the new CBA, do you buyout Pronger or Bryz???
  23. NOT IN A MILLION YEARS. Hell, we are in this mess because they called his sorry ass up last year for a 1 period meltdown in the playoffs. Snider over-reacted and now we have a 9 yr $51 million contract. I ain't happy either, but there is NO way Leighton is the answer.
  24. thanks for the update...IMO..he tore the ACL in that one knee when Gilbert fell on him. For his sake, hope I'm wrong, but it sure looked ugly.
