  1. Not jumping on the dead corpse, but if it takes ownership 2 day to decide to KEEP one or the other...don't they already have their answer?  It shouldn't take 2 days to decide yes...

I would say that about any team/ownership group...not just the Pens.  Assuming the "2nd straight day" comment is correct.

  2.   I keep getting "error, you are not allowed to use this image extension in this forum"....what am I doing wrong and how can I avoid this message?

I've been cutting and pasting and choosing "copy image"....is there an easy way to avoid this?

I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that pictures copied from the website, "hotnakedpuckbunnies.com" aren't allowed to be posted here.

  3. Some of the Homer threads in the Flyers forum, got me thinking.  What is your opinion of the worst contract in the league right now, and why?  Is it cap hit/duration/overpayment/etc?

Here's a few links from CapGeek.com for assistance.  Ignore bought-out contracts for this exercise.

One that jumps out at me is Jordan Staal.  He's finishing up the 1st year, of a 10 year deal, with a $6 million cap hit/season.  The most points he's EVER scored in the NHL is 50, and this season, while playing in all 82 games, he finished with 15 goals, and 45 points.

Probably because it's Carolina, but I tend to forget about that contract.  YUCK.

  4. What's more, rights to a player who had stated his intention to be one of the highest paid goalies in the league. It really was an awful trade.

True, but at that time, he was also the best option(or widely regarded as such) goalie heading into FA.   If he didn't get a 276 year deal, with a NMC trade, I don't think the trade would be considered horrible.  Then factor in his 2 years with Philly, and it looks atrocious in hind sight.

  5. If you look at it from the point of view that the details of the trade almost necessitated the signing, then i don't know. A prospect and two picks for a player whose contact was about to expire... If a deal wasn't in place before free agency, then those assets were literally thrown away.

To my mind, a trade whose only two possible outcomes were

    1) a bad contract untempered by a buyer's market for goalies a month later

    or

    2) losing a prospect and a draft pick for absolutely nothing at all

    is a bad trade.

I selectively forgot that there were 2 draft picks include in the deal.  Yeah, 2 picks and a player for rights..MEH.

  6. It's very rare, I gloat....BUT..from the time he ended up missing practice cause he didn't feel right; I said he had a concussion.  I  caught unholy hell from some people.

    Take that.   :P

Then again, it wasn't really that hard given this team's history of handling/treating/reporting concussions.

  7. IMHO, if they eat half his salary for the remaining years, someone makes that trade.  I hated the signing, I hate the contract.  I don't hate the player.

VLC played solidly until he hurt his back.  Again, IMHO, he came back too early and never fully healed/recovered.  Assuming he's healthy, someone can use him at $2 million/year.

If they trade him, and have 8 million in dead cap space (for VLC) the next 4 years, I think the heat on Homer gets significantly hotter.  That move and the Bryz buyout would be almost $4 million/season for players NOT on the roster.  Even Homer may not survive that.....

  8. Can anyone explain why they won't move Raffl up?  The kid is fast, watch him forecheck.  He doesn't look fast, but he covers a lot of ice quickly.

Raffl isn't the answer or the savior IMHO, but moving Raffl up beats moving an untested rookie there.

  9. if a franchise can't acquire or develop a younger, more skilled defenseman to supplant Gill, then it has failed to recognize where games are won and lost these days, and that's a problem that goes beyond a single playoff game.

To this I say..."No freaking sh*it!!"  We've only been saying this for years, across multiple message boards.  If idiots like us can see, how in the hell can the "organization" not see it?

  10. Personally, I'd rather he play Game 4, if they are going to dress him at all.  It's a home game; they have last change; can control the matchups a bit better.

If they lose tonight, I'm not sure his 1st playoff game should be in a potential elimination game in the Garden.

  11. If he can play 9 playoff games without burning a year, we've got the best scenario.

This, pure and simple.  Laughton isn't gonna win them a Cup.  No problems playing him however.

FWIW... #Flyers re-called Scott Laughton today from OHL Oshawa (has NHL experience) but Berube says he will not play in Game 4.
