  1. Dude- If you scroll down after the Lucic article, you will see the best part about that page: "Giroux returns to practice for some "pushing / shoving" http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2011/12/18/giroux-returns-to-flyers-practice-does-a-little-pushing-and-shoving/
  2. I was wondering this too and thought this would be an optimal time to call him up.
  3. @flyercanuck It has the chance to save Kyles career. I am not sure what happened in Phoenix- because I did not follow it that closely. From afar though, it seems he was not delivering at the expected pace. With his minimal production, I think it would leave a bitter taste for any team for him to demand a trade / ask for more money. That said, it also has to be hard for him to see JVR get a nice raise and him not want at least half of the cake JVR got. I think the thing for me is 1/2 defensemen prospects do not grow on trees and everyone is projecting that in 2-3 years Runblad will be playing top pair minutes. In the end- you could be right in that it is a win - win for both. Given the history of Turris in Phoenix and the pedigree of Runblad, I probably would not have thrown in the 2nd round pick. Kyle has no excuse now as he will be centering second line with good linemates.
  4. I just wish we had known he was such a nut case. Dude almost reminds me of Checkmanak.
  5. I know- I was just being a wise ass and gave me a good excuse to bring up the three players rooming together again (WTF?)
  6. Because it is cheaper to book the airline tickets further in advance. Didn't you see the post where Hartnell, Giroux and Jagr all room together. We never did find out who sleeps on the roll-away.
  7. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=382972#YourCallTop IMHO- Coyotes win this one hands down. Would like to think we could have gotten Runblad (not the type of dman we currently need, but he is going to be very good).
  8. @OzFlyer Here is Kerry Frazers take on the Canadiens - Flyers goal controversy: http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/kerry_fraser/?id=382913
  9. Nashville already has a #1 goalie and does not need Bobs.
  10. I agree. Just have three A's instead. The leaders will be leaders regardless of what is sewn on their sweater.
  11. The problem that worries me about that whole scenario (though I sure it can be fudged) is what happens if Pronger says he wants to come back and play? I agree with you and JVR and the whole effort thing. I don't get it.
  12. Two questions: 1) Where does the 8m plus come from to re-sign Weber? 2) Where does the next high-end center to replace Briere come from?
  13. His whole career- all of 2 and 1/3 years. He was on pace to put up a 32 / 32 year prior to getting injured. I get the invisible stuff. But a 22 year old in his third season that puts up 32 / 32 is pretty good. I get the Weber love (and Suter). Yes, I would do a JVR-trade for either of them, BUT not until Pronger is KO'd for the long term. I mean, where is the 8m going to come from to pay either of those guys?? JVRs new contract is not on the books this year. I will stop being a yah yah with JVR (for now), but he still has a high ceiling. Truthfully, I would let us play out the year with the kids. Look how Suter / Weber got so good: they played huge minutes at a younger age. I am not saying Bourdon / Gus are equal skill, but that in the short term, lets develop them at the NHL level.
  14. Hi WCF- I agree with the philosophy of the first part in playing the kids, but not the second. There are a couple of reasons: 1) Nobody is saying Prongers career is done. To make a move for a top 4 will cost assets. 2) Either Suter or Weber are going to cost 7.5+ million. I just don't see that kind of cash being moved around- especially given the chemistry of this team. This team is the best team overall that the Flyers have iced in awhile. IMHO, let Carle / Mesz / Coburn / Kimmo be the guys. Ice time to Bourdon / Guz will be a bonus in experience and payoff more down the line. Everyone forgets how good Gus was. 18 minutes a night and a +5.
  15. I am normally pretty mellow about the reffing. However, tonight was just atrocious. When nearly HALF the game is spent on special teams, there is something wrong. Of particular note is the missed call against Jagr and subsequent call on Coots. The Flyers were whistled for almost 20 minutes of penalties and the Habitants 10. What is wrong with this picture? I am going to try and take off my O&B glasses and say that at least 1 of the Habs penalties were utter BS and 2 for the Flyers. We all complained about obstruction before, so I have to be careful here. But when many of these penalties were of the "obstruction" variety, most were ticky tacky. @brelic- I have not watched the replay what I thought was a blatant infraction against Jagr yet. However, if Lavy is that hot under the collar, it is pretty evident that was a blown obvious call with BOTH refs looking at the play. I truly want to go back to the single ref. The two ref system is not working in my eyes. For the most part because of three reasons: 1) Different philosophies 2) Inconsistencies in responsibility of who watches what and who calls what 3) Egos
  16. @BillDineen Thats not that blond that has the butter face (not that bad really- just looks like she cakes on the make-up and is pushing her 40's).
  17. @FlyerFan4Life The two that I trust is Bill Meltzer and that guy from the DelcoTimes.
  18. @FlyerFan4Life "tim p just tweeted he is receiving word pronger is shutting it down for the yr" I highly doubt Tim P has the scoop on this. Pronger cant stand Tim P.

  20. I think that Lavi really trust Z because of his speed. There was something on Philly.com today about it.
  21. I would argue that Markhov does, but he is made of glass now and his cap hit is higher than Prongers.
  22. I could see Knuble moved at the trade deadline to a team that needs a big body for PP for playoff push. Even at that, Knuble is on the 2nd unit this year.
  23. What about short snaps? Does a centre in hockey take short snaps too??
  24. Why is a gil a good idea?? Maybe 3-4 years ago he was a good idea. But not the 36 turn style that he is now. People bemoan Carle on here (who is actually playing pretty well right now). Gil would get eaten alive. Think poor mans Rathje (sans injury).
