  1. Good question. I'm not sure why HC felt the need to express any sort of comment regarding Giroux's absence. It's just the Olympics. Yes, that's right, I said it. Giroux's employer - the people who have given him financial freedom for his family and a few future generations of Girouxs - is more important than the Olympics.

Giroux no longer lives in Canada. He can't vote in Canada. He doesn't pay taxes here. His kids won't go to school here. So HC needs to chill out.

I understand it is an honour and a privilege for many players to don the jersey of their home nations, but to publicly admonish him for not showing up at a dry land bonding sesh in Calgary in August????

    I don't get it.

He can't vote in Canada? Just cause you live in another Country doesn't mean you can't vote. I lived in the States and could still vote in Canada. Quite sure he also has a place in Canada to. Which would mean he is still paying some sort of tax. Little confused of your point.

  2. From a Hockeybuzz blogger (oilers blogger) Richard Cloutier

    http://www.hockeybuz...42#.UdVvIzvIZOE

scroll down to the coburn section...he says "The flyers are rumored to be adding three more ufs'a this week"

Anybody heard anything about these "rumors" and how credible is this Cloutier guy?

Cloutier is an Oilers fan who writes a blog. He has zero credibility. His blog before was actually humerous, it was so bad. For some reason he likes to take shots at the Flyers.

  3. Just curious as to why many here are interested in trading away Read? He always works hard, scores goals, plays any position and does it for less than 1 million bucks. He's like Kapanen but cheaper. I think you need 'value' like this on a team to make the salary cap work. Unless he helps bring a true franchise player, I'm not listening to offers.......Thoughts?

Read will end up being another Patrick Sharp. I watched a lot of the worlds this year and he played a lot of minutes for Team Canada. Nothing but praise by Lindey Ruff. Great two way player. Don't understand the rush to move the guy.

  4. NO! Iginla's best days are long gone. He was really exposed in the Boston series. He was a step behind the play as the playoffs went on. Iginla will be heading back to the Western conference. We need to stay away from these type of players. Simmons>Iginla. By a long shot.

  5. For some reason I think the Flyers got a steal with Mason. I look at his age and ability and he isn't even in his prime years for an NHL goalie. With Bryz there is plenty of better options out there at a 1/4 of the price. Right now in my opinion Emery is a way better option as tandem with Mason. Just my two cents. There is just to many holes in Bryz's game right now. And the side act that goes along with it isn't worth it. And the fact that I don't really think he has the support of coach or teamates. The comments out Phoenix after he left says a lot. They weren't to crushed that he left.

  6. How often does Button's list come close to what actually happens ?

I saw this the other day and thought no one would take drouin over mackinnon... and as a result paid it no further mind.

It depends on who is there, i'd like to see the team try to draft a defensman , Pulock, Ritstoleinen , Nurse any of those guys if available , i've heard mantha has compete issues and the shinkaruk while talented is small. look at the teams in our conference we need to beat to play for the cup, the Broons have 10 guys at 200+ lbs, the Pens have 16 ... if i'm drafting a forward he needs to have a frame that will accept that muscle weight and not have questions about his compete level.

Button's list is pretty muched based on what he thinks will happen not on actual rankings. The one thing the Flyers have going for them is apparently a lot of teams are looking for big forwards in this years draft. A team like the Oilers I can't see them taking a D man with the amount good young D they have in their system.

if he didnt care, why would he even bother playing or him showing emotions like slamming sticking or throwing waterbottles? if he's a quitter like most fans want him to be, why does he even bother playing all those games? with him playing all those games, pretty much shows he wants to win, problem is the team full of vets dont want to win.

  8. @doom88. That is not what I meant. If your gm of the team with the number five pick would you take coby and our 1st in e change for your pick? I wouldn't.

I think edmonton might take that deal. They really need a big D man and have made it known that they could move their pick this year. If they could get a guy like coburn and only lose a couple of spots.

I say they would do it.

  9. this is your problem, you think it's not coaching, it is, i have been watching this team under lav in 2010, this team was playing poorly, turnovers, bad defense, odd man rushes, it's been a problem before even before bryz got here, dont tell me that this team just started playing poorly when bryz got here, it's been this way since 2010, when the flyers got swept the bruins in 2011, how was that bryz fault when he wasnt even here? it's the coaching, it's not the goalie.

Buddy your gig is up. For a troll your not very good at it.

  10. Not so sure it's bogus. I saw him several times down here. He was leading the AHL in scoring for most of the time he was in the AHL. His play is effortless. Solid defensively and able to join the rush. Flyers fans would get wood if he somehow ended up on the Flyers roster.

He never will. He will be in Edmonton for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a 6-8 year deal after his rookie deal is done.

  11. I've seen the kid play a ton this year and he is one of the best young defensmen I've seen in a long time. Speed and skill and a wrist shot from the point that is harder than most guys slap shots. Once he gets a steady D partner he going to be one of the best in the league.

The time to have acquired Schultz was last summer, Schultz wanted a guarantee he would be playing in the NHL, Homer couldn't make that promise......thus Philly fell out of the Schultz race. Schultz was a FA and chose where he wanted to play.

Actually it was the crop of young forwards that was the final sale for Schultz. I'm pretty sure a few of the players did really good job of selling Edmonton to him. From what he has said anyways.

  13. what would take for the flyers to get him? he's the defensive player of the year for the ahl, he's clearly a winner, i would give a first and maybe courts or laughton for him? flyers wanted him for the start and oilers have a new gm, so i would take advantage of that, if i was homer or hopefully maybe new gm if snider wakes up and wants to win now, get him.

Are you serious? He's the Oiler's best Dman. He won the award and only played half the season in the AHL. The kid is pretty much untouchable. It would take half our top forwards. WOW!

I'm beginning to question whether you're just trolling this board cause I really can't see anything you're seeing.

First of all, Bernie won the Conn Smythe BOTH years the Flyers won the cup. If you don't think he was the biggest reason Philly won, I can't help you.

Second of all, Mason will be making 1/3 of what Bryzgalov will next year. That matters when neither one of them looks much better than the other.

Third ...Quick wasn't great or spectacular? He was freaking incredible last year. LA wouldn't even have made the playoffs if it wasn't for him. And he was HANDS DOWN the Conn Smythe winner...no one else was even close.

Wow, Bryz is good and Quick wasn't anything special last year?

Ya he lost me the first sentence in.

  15. i think he would be a good backup but to anyone thinks he'll be starter, i dont see it plus it's against a bad buffalo team, if he's good against really good teams maybe, but it's the pressure of being a starter in the playoffs that might be the difference.

He's 24 years old. How can you make that judgement when most goalie don't make it until their mid 20's. The guy showed me more today than Bryz all season.
