He is only a good player when he plays his center position. We have young kids at center that we need to let grow. G , Schenn,coots,and Laughton are our young guys in the center position. Now I do see coots being dangled for a top two dman and Laughton replacing him. But the way coots has been playing lately I wouldn't move him.

And also there is a chance nurse goes number 1. Or just before jones. There is lots of chatter about how much upside nurse has and the leaps he has made just this year. Actually better then jones. By a long shot when it comes to overall stats and team strength.

To be honest I'm sure every gm in the top 10 in picks talk to each other to see who they are picking. Especially top five.

Yes I agree jones is a top d prospect. But so is nurse.

And to clarify...... No way I'm looking to trade for number 1 pick. Way to many holes to fill to trade away assets leaving other holes and question marks. Besides if say the panthers decide to shop that pick can you imagine the offers they would be getting? I doubt our 1 st and coots comes even close to the higher bidders for that pick. Especially when nurse is flying up the draft charts lately.

To be honest I'm torn on what I posted. Do I take the best available prospect ? Prolly would be mackinnon . Or do I take nurse? Two possibilities I play around with are these. Take mackinnon and trade away center for d help. Young d that is. Or trade down with a team that wants above mentioned centerman badly. Maybe the flames finish 5th and they are willing to swap picks and say a second ? Then select nurse at number 5 and have two high second round picks to trade for goalie ? Or another d? Or combine and trade with a team wiling to move their late first round pick ? Maybe if Haag or pulock is still available at 20 or 25.

Your the gm of the flyers at draft day holding the third pick if the draft. Jones and drouin off the table. What do you do? Yotes offer you yandle and their 1st for that pick. If you keep it who do you select? Do you trade down ? You have offers of first round picks for coots/b schenn. Both are at pick 14 and 16 .

What worries me if we finish say second overall and jones is picked up first does homer grab him or another winger and not fix our back end.

To be honest I think a draft day pick of five to seven would prolly land us nurse. I believe he is the best dman in the draft. Unfortunately the rest of the scouts are moving him up the draft board quickly as his play has improved greatly and is just tapping his ability.

Homer did mention something about the cap not dropping as far as mentioned. I'm not sure though and can't find it anywhere. But I think it's in the cba. However it's tied to revenue so it might go up because its based on a estimate of the adjusted revenue split.

@brelic. Pulock is rated 88 on my flyers team in nhl 13. So I had to throw him in the mix. Lol
