  1. Good post with good points Digity. I agree with above quote. Rinaldo should probably be done for the season and maybe as a Flyer if you ask me. As you said, he is a marked man by the refs in the league now and and will not shake his reputation while wearing a Flyer uniform thanks to the "Broad Street Bully" stigma that is attached to our logo. Carcillo had the same problem. I much prefer Wellwood anyhow. I know my post was pretty negative but the Flyers have been breaking my heart since 1980, not to mention that after the depressing Flyer loss my beer league team took a similar beating last night with a particularly poor performance by me so I was in a pretty negative space when I wrote it. Still, I stand by my prediction that this goes 6 games and next Sunday in Philly is a must win or we write another chapter of heart break and embarrassment in Philly sports history.
  2. Anybody else think that extra day off really hurt the Flyers in game 4? I think if we play on tuesday with the normal 1 day off and the momentum of game 3 then maybe game 4 has a different outcome. (Chalk this thought up in the category of "if my Aunt had balls she'd be my Uncle.")
  3. I know I will get blasted for this but I think game 6 is our only chance to win this series. I am already chalking up game 5 as a loss. Pittsburgh goes into game 5 in their barn with a HUGE confidence boost and all the momentum now. Game 4 drained every last bit of momentum from the Flyers. The Pens will also most likely have Martin back as well as Adams and Neal, their top playoff performer before tonight. On top of that Bryz and Bob will go into game 5 with zero confidence after getting lit up for 5 goals a piece. It is completely clear that we got pre-March Bryz for these playoffs and he is "lost in the woods" again and proving to be the worst 51 million dollars anyone has ever spent. He will get lit up again on friday night for another loss, book it. Flyers must win game 6 in Philly. If it goes to game 7, we lose and become a part of history again, but this time on the pathetic loser side.
  4. I hope the Flyers finish off the Pens tonight but if they dont, Neal is a marked man in game 5.
  5. I dont buy it. I think Phoenix listed him as questionable to ensure a suspension. Let's see if he actually sits.
  6. Good investigative work! Shaw just received 3 games for his bump into Mike Smith. I really didn't see that hit as a charge and Smith put on one of the greatest acting performances in the history of hockey and should have gotten 2 for unsportsmanlike/embellishment. He went down as if he were going to need to be taken off on a stretcher and may never be able to play hockey again, but SURPRISE!! 2 minutes later he was up and he was fine. At any rate, if Shaw got 3 for that, Asham certainly gets 6 or 7 and Neal should at least get 1.
  7. Thanks. The wheels are in motion. I expect a decision by game time today so the media has something to talk about in pre-game.
  8. Some of you guys seem to have inside lines and get info before I see it on NHL.com so just checking in. I am guessing Asham gets 7-10 games and Neal gets 1, maybe 2.
  9. And let's do it with a shut out for an exclamation point and give Bryz some confidence for the next series!
  10. so that's his secret. no wonder it doesnt move even when skating at full speed! His hair also served double duty as a helmet.
  11. The league couldnt afford the hair and make-up crew for his video summaries of disciplinary decisions. Do you know how much it costs to get his hair that perfect!!
  12. Agreed, there was no merit in Carkner's approach, but to turtle like that? He got whooped by Neil when he had fair warning. Lost a little respect for Boyle.
  13. Just saw Yotes highlights. Yeah, Andrew Shaw hit him but he went down like he may never be able play hockey again and low and behold he was fine 3 minutes later and didnt even leave the game. Shameful. Briere took the hit by Kronwall like more of a man than Smith.
  14. Nice. Working as a park ranger? How'd you get a work visa? When I was travelling around OZ it was almost impossible to get a work visa for US citizens.
  15. Just saw highlights from the Rangers game. Boyle dished out rabbit punches last game but got challenged this game and didnt even defend himself and got beat down like a school boy! Isnt he like 6'6" - 240?? Pussssaaaayyyy!!!
  16. Home of the "Three Sisters" rock formations and the Leura Forest if memory serves me correctly. Beautiful area. Avid surfer so spent most of my time near the coast but ventured inland every now and then.
  17. So I am guessing that most of the fans on this board grew up in the Philly/South Jersey area and with that assumption there is probably a pretty good chance that some of us went to schools in the same area and maybe even played some puck with or against each other? I'll start... I went to Hill School in Pottstown, Class of '90. (I know, I know, prep school punk but it had a good hockey program.)
  18. Sheeet bro! You'll have to dig a lot deeper than that to really get under my skin! I am a Flyers fan after all. Just don't bring up my momma and we're cool. BTW, where abouts in convict land are you? I have spent a fair amount of time down there.
  19. Well, I was born this way. (BTW, I had to look up that Lady GAGA reference!) Whoops! meant to say "We" were born this way!
  20. Hard to argue with that.
  21. I think it is both. Pens are coming out with a huge push but the Flyers arent even close to matching their intensity.
  22. Ouch, that hurts. Ok, no more pessimistic posts for a while.
  23. I have been watching the games which is why I said the Bryz and the Defense has not been good. I probably should have put more emphasis on the D but it is not as easily quantifiable as goalie numbers! You are right though, I should have given props to some of the amazing saves he made last night. 2 of them may go down as "saves of the playoffs" regardless how far the Flyers go.
  24. Not to be Debbie Downer because I am thrilled the Flyers are up 2-0 but there are some serious issues that need to be corrected if the Flyers are going to have a successful post season. So far the Flyers have come out flat both games and given big leads to the Pens. Yes they have shown resolve and battled back but this is not a strategy for long term success. Also, not for nothin, but Bryz and the defense have not been good. So far in the playoffs, Bryz has a 4.0 GAA and a .857 SP. How we are up 2-0 in this series with those kind of numbers is beyond me. This kind of hockey may or may not get us past the Penguins but it sure as heck wont cut it against someone like the Rangers.
