  1. True. Had you told me that in the first 2 games Bryz would have a 4.0 GAA and the Flyers would be up 2-0 I would have asked you to pass the bowl to me because you clearly have had enough.
  2. How can it be anybody but Bryz?? Either he is good and gives us the best shot to beat the Pens or he is bad and he gives us no shot to beat them. Either way, Bryz has the biggest impact.
  3. I think the Pens almost view this as a must win game and play desperate hockey tonight and find a way to win this one. Hope I'm wrong.
  4. It literally translates into a 1 penny fine for the average person. Absurd. When I saw it happen I said that is good for a 1 game suspension. The league bias rears its ugly head yet again. Let it be known that my dad lives in Nashville and I am a mild Preds fan and hate the Wings and I still thought it was worthy of a 1 game suspension. It was dirty, ugly, and had intent to injur. Hope he plays for us next year!
  5. I posted this in another thread before I saw this one but.... I would like our chances a lot better if we were healthier. I think we would be Cup favorites if.... 1.) If our D were 100% healthy. Could you imagine how strong our back end would be with Pronger, Carle, Kimmo, Coburn, Grossman, Kubina?! 2.) if playoff Briere and 2011 playoff JVR were 100% healthy and in the line up. Our forward roster would be Giroux, Hartnell, Jagr, Briere, JVR, Simmonds, Voracek, Talbot, Schenn, Cotourier, Read, Wellwood/Rinaldo. That is scary depth. 3.) if March Bryzgolov showed up. Unfortunately those are some big factors to be up in the air and I am probably the only Flyer fan on this board that doesnt think they will win this series against a 100% healthy and very potent Pens team. I hope I am wrong though and I love our extremely bright future and think if we can keep the core together and keep our guys healthy, there is no reason why the Flyers wont be making deep cup runs for the next few years.

  7. while Shelly does suck as an enforcer, it wasnt really his fault. He merely looked at Mac and said a couple of words and got a 10 minute misconduct. the league has officially been pussified.
  8. yeah, my quotation marks were meant to imply sarcasm. It was such BS. The league got them to a game 7 but I do give the Pens credit that they pretty much played a perfect game 7.
  9. They did call him for it. The league "inexplicably" overturned the suspension for game 6.
  10. Sour grapes? Please. Your team has been coddled by the league for years. In fact they were coddled all the way to a Stanley Cup. I am pretty sure Bettman's name is on the Cup right after Cindy's.
  11. If the Flyers series starts on opening day of the playoffs, they have 1 week to get healthy. How far out is Mez and JVR? (not including time to get in game shape and back up to speed.)
  12. Well, who knows if Briere will be healthy and Grossman may not be 100% by the time the playoffs start either so those are four pretty key guys with question marks and the biggest question mark of all is what Bryz will we get? If we get March Bryz we will be looking good, if we get pre-March Bryz we will be golfing soon.
  13. Easy there 10. It is the hardest trophy to win in sports for a reason. We got a long road ahead of us.
  14. True about the reset, but hopefully seasonal play in various buildings amount to something, perhaps confidence or lack there of if nothing else. Also, a good point about having to win three at home. In thinking about it some more, I'll take home ice and be confident that we can win at least half of our home games and take 2 of 3 in their barn.
  15. I am pretty sure he won a scoring title, a Pearson Award, a Hart Trophy and an Eastern Conference Championship which is more than nothing and a lot more than most other players can say. The only thing he didn't win was a cup which the vast majority of players never do and there are plenty of players in the HOF that never won a Cup.
  16. actually, he did get the call. it was nullified by the goal that went off the inside bar a few seconds earlier. total dive though or serious embellishment at the very least.
  17. 2-0 Pens 5 mins in. So much for showing up.
  18. In what has to be the toughest remaining 4 game schedule in the NHL, the Flyers will face the Pens twice along with the Rags and Sabres. It is also almost set in stone that the Flyers will face the Pens in the first round thus essentially making it a 9 game series with the first 2 games counting for momentum and confidence. It is basically now just a question of whether the Flyers finish as the 4th or 5th seed. The Flyers control their own destiny in that if they keep pace with Pens in the games against Buffalo and NY, then if they can beat the Pens in regulation in both of the remaining games against them they will finish 1 point ahead of them and take the 4th seed. The question is, do they even want the 4th seed and home ice advantage considering they have played a little better on the road than at home this year? I think they might do better as the 5th seed where it would only take stealing one game in Pittsburgh to take away home ice advantage from a team that has relied more heavily on winning in their own barn and plant a seed of doubt in their heads. Any thoughts?
  19. @idahophilly Exactly, we're pretty much locked into 5th (barring PIT losing out-doubtful) Actually I dont think that is the case. If we keep pace with Pitt on the remaining games and beat them in regulation in both of our remaining match-ups against them, then we could overtake them for 4th seed. The question is, do we even want home ice? The Flyers have played better on the road and all we need to do is steal one away game to take away the Pen's home ice advantage.
  20. Ha! Yeah, I remember that vividly and even remember being surprised there was no call as that was pretty blatant even for those days! Even more surprised that there seemed to no objection to it from Messier or the Ranger bench!
  21. Yeah, pretty much done and dusted. We'd need a lot of help to win the conference, or the 4th seed for that matter, but do we really even want home ice when the Flyers have been very lack luster there all season?
  22. I didnt get a great look at it and only saw one angle in the replay, but what am I missing???? It looked as if Briere was back checking on his man and used his stick to pin the Tampa players STICK down when the pass came across. Where I come from that is a good hockey play. It didnt appear that he ever used his stick to hook or interfere with the body of the Tampa player so I just dont see where the penalty is. Was there an angle that I did not see where Danny did in fact interfere or was that just a flat out terrible call that cost us a goal?
  23. With the ridiculous loss to Rolo tonight, we now need help from Pissburgh to climb out of 5th. Hopefully they stumble but I wouldnt count on it.
  24. He may play again (doubtful though) but there is ZERO chance that he comes back this year.
  25. I agree with mojo, no "easy" draw, but if I had a choice I guess I'd say I'd say, based strictly on opponents, I'd take Panthers of Caps first round, though in truth I really wouldn't want that because that would mean the Flyers struggled at the end of the season and finished in 6th or 7th, so no thanks!
