Sure i am using Jack Hughes as my reward for my suffering....that is worth it. At least to me.

i really hope that's not what they are doing because it's really going to look bad on the players,  i love to have hughes but for sake for morale it's not worth it.

I'm not changing into a fan of Fletcher any time soon.

And I was obviously starting to clamour for Hextall to be fired because I thought he was failing to address certain obvious gaping holes in the team--the coaching staff among them.

But is it possible that an in-season change in GM is going to have way more positive an effect on the team than I ever thought it could--or even should for that matter?   If it does, I think it actually stands to prove what Holmgren and Scott were saying.  If he really was ruling with an iron fist--i.e., shadow coaching, have an inept guy on the staff just because he was a reliable spy, controlling diet, bed time, bowel schedules, etc.--maybe the team just loosening up and the coach being able to move people around or adjust approach as he sees fit could be a world of difference.

I know I'm writing after a 6-2 drubbing of the Bwhataload Sabres and that's clearly affecting the question, but it's astounding to me if a change makes a huge difference even before any move is made (there'd be some affect just from players playing better to prevent being the one moved, but still).

this is pretty much like last year when we were beating really good teams and we sucked in the playoffs, it's nothing new. i'll put it this way unless hak wins us a stanley cup, he's out the door because he wants his own guy, only reason he's still here is because he wants to go to the playoffs. they know what he is, he's not good enough, they want us to get a winning a record so when the new coach comes in, it will take the team to a new level.

I wasn't talking about a surprise story. I mean Fletcher made the Wild a consistent playoff team so we never got good draft picks but the team was no where good enough to make a serious run much less get out of the 1st round. Chuck had the Wild have 2 series wins in 6 playoff appearances. The last 3 playoffs the Wild got enough wins combined to win a series. Fletcher relies on over the hill vets that are a shell of their selves to run the team. What's worst is he gives them big contracts with NMC/NTC. Fletcher drafting history is terrible too. With him and his staffing he struggled to develop any talent from the draft picks. He has no problem throwing away draft picks for rentals that literally disappear out of the NHL as soon as their contract is up with the Wild. The Suter/Parise contracts don't end until the end of the 24-25 season and might go down as one of the worst contracts of all time. Suter can be argued he was in the top 5 for defensemen but Parise was never a top tier player. He hit top 20 2 or 3 times in his career but otherwise struggles to make even in the top 50. That money could have been spent elsewhere to make the Wild better.

My point is that Fletcher was cheered when it was announced he was finally fired. He was a big improvement from Dumpster Doug before but that's like saying going from a skateboard to a bike is a big improvement well everybody else is driving a car. You are still behind. Fans got sick of his bad decisions and panic moves. He literally made the franchise stuck. Not good enough to make a playoff push beyond the 2nd round but not bad enough to draft a possible franchise changer either.

i really think sometimes things really have to go your way in terms of matchups, you didnt matchup well against the blackhawks, i dont think it's about how you draft, what you trade for, if you dont get your matchups, you are just not going to win. the caps last year, no one else expected the caps to win the cup and it took them a long time to get to the finals and win it all. they never blew it up and they just kept trying and eventually they got their way and won it all.

the caps players even said it themselves, they didnt even know why or how they got there, they couldnt explain it. things just go your way. that's just how it is sometimes. you can build a team of stars like the lightning and still lose, with less talented team like vegas to go in the finals. i guess teams just get hot in the playoffs and it works out.

im guessing that it's the team that has the most playoff experienced players.

Is there a specific area Paul & Dave wanted you to address first?

Again, Paul and Dave were great. We didn’t get into the specifics of the team necessarily. We did discuss the team a bit, but they made it very clear they will trust my judgment and they will allow me to do the things I think we need to do to get better. I’m just looking at it from the outside, it’s not a secret – there’s five different goalies that have played in net this year, and that’s a lot. We’re 29th in goals-against; that’s too high. We have some young defensemen, and a lot of them are going to be very good players in this league, but it’s a tough league. We just need to look at how do we give up fewer goals. It takes everybody on the ice to prevent a goal. But getting some stability in goal would be great, getting healthy in goal would be great. Sometimes you can’t control that, and that’s why we’ll first look to see what we have here in-house, and if need be, I’m certainly going to make a lot of calls and see what’s out there, and if we have to make a move we’ll be ready to do so.

fewer goals? sounds he wants to improve the defense and goaltending. sounds he wants to build this team from goaltending to defense which is our major weakness.
