The Siberia comment by me was tongue in cheek, but Fedatov has been accused according to some sources of purchasing a fake military ID from a high ranking military official, who has allegedly done this for others. It’s in Russo’s article and has been repeated on NHL Network and NHL Radio.

While I’m not so sure I would have done this, I guess if you lose Fiala and your scoring could be down, you might want to have two experienced goalies to keep pucks out of the net. I guess if you have limited dollars, keeping the puck out of the net might be the best way to spend what dollars you have.

Stay tuned regarding Kaprizov. The reports that he got out of Russia are false and according to Guerin, he’s still over there. Read Russo’s article in The Athletic. A source close to Russian hockey players seems to think Kaprizov will be able to get out, but said if Putin wanted to make an example of someone Kaprizov could be the guy. Kaprizov’s parents are denying that he bought a fake military ID like Fedatov did, which has supposedly landed him in custody in Siberia at a Russian naval base. Also important to note is that Russian athletes study abroad as students in the Russian Presidential Academy. Kirill’s status in this school expired June 30th so regardless of the fake ID situation, the Russians could refuse his request to leave the country and force him to fulfill his military service. Guerin pleaded with Kaprizov not to return home. Apparently so did the agents of pretty much all the Russian players, but most all went home. It’s a potentially bad situation for all parties. Just out of curiosity, if the Russians, i.e. Putin, refuse to let Kirill and other Russian players leave the country, how would that impact the salary caps for teams??

I tend to think the same way. I’ve never thought we should resign MAF. Spend that money on Middleton and or Deslauries.

I think the chances of NJ dealing their first round pick disappeared when they ended up with the second pick overall via the lottery. Eager to see what the Wild do now. Given the sheer numbers of young defensemen we have in the system now, I’d love to trade up and try to grab a center, potentially an impact center, in the draft. I’d trade the 19, 24 and the 56 if it would get me in the 6-10 range. One or more of Gautier, Geekie and Kasper would be sitting there for the taking. And though he projects as a winger, Kemell would be a nice pick as well.

I would have liked to have acquired a higher pick than 19 but I guess that might have been the best deal available. I like the acquisition of Faber. He’s a right hand shot D-man whom many predict as a top 4 guy. Wonder if the Wild stick at 19 and 24 or package the two picks to try and move up??

I think the trade is Fiala to the Devils for Dawson Mercer and a pick or two. Could be NJ’s number one next year or a second. Could be some other minor players included in the deal as well, but Fiala and Mercer would be the highlight.

According to an article in NJ.com, the Devils are regarded as the front runner to land Kevin Fiala. Lisa Dillman of The Athletic says “most everybody I’ve talked to says the Devils are the front runner..” Russo has also eluded to the Devils as a possible trade partner. New Jersey has the 4th ranked talent pool and their first round picks this year and next.

Me too unless I wake up to a miracle. I might watch Calgary though. They are fun to watch IMHO. I still think we can be successful next season and be a fringe playoff team with some of our youth moving up. I’d trade Dumba and Fiala and get what I could. We should have Addison and Rossi up here next year at a minimum. I think Dewar can play full time too.

Sometimes when Kaprizov is working his magic, I wish he’d just use his speed and drive hard to the net rather than floating down the boards and looking to pass.

If they get the next goal, we are in deep $hit…
