  1. @All

Like I said, chirping is chirping. I like chirping, by no means am I saying players should be ''banned'' for chirping.

But, there is a fine line between chirping and telling someone you are going to give them a head shot. This **** needs to be out of the game and so does Rinaldo. So what you will about me.

  2. Well, then I appreciate your sensitivity to it, but I honestly don't think it was meant nor taken literally. If he'd said, "we're going to kill you tonight," should they have called the police? (or just laughed him out of the building, considering)

But there is a fine line between saying "I'm going to kill you tonight" and "When you're head's down, I'm taking it off." How many times has there been an attempted murder in a hockey game vs taking a head shot at a player. And as for him getting better, I apologize as I don't watch many Flyers games, but he just seems like a player who is only out there to take cheap shots at people from what I have seen.

  3. Really because I watched the same thing on TSN and there was like 2 guys that said that. Then they showed some of those same players fights where they did the same thing. I don't know if you have ever been in a fight on the ice but you keep swinging until it's done. It's not dance. it's either hit or get hit.

But it was done, Crombeen was a foot away from hitting the ice, he was in a vulnerable situation...

  4. @Jmdodgesrt4 I can think of many ways to intimidate someone on the ice without threatening to take off their head. Rinaldo is a goon, nothing more and nothing less. Has 0 talent. He didn't break the code because the ref said so? I seen a thing on TSN where DOZENS of players (including fighters) were asked if he broke the code and ALL of them said yes. You need to get your facts straight.. Rindalo is Avery 2.0 with less talent.

@AJgoal He was still up? He was about a foot away from hitting the ice when Rinaldo sucker punch'd him.

  5. Not sure if this is old or not but I just seen this quote and thought it was disgusting...

"I'm gonna catch you with your head down tonight. I'm gonna take it off."

    - Mic'd up Philadelphia Flyers left winger Zac Rinaldo to Leafs winger Phil Kessel during their Monday night game.

That's the mentality we need to get out of the game. Isn't Rinaldo the guy that ''broke the code'' as well? This guy needs to get the f' out of hockey.

  6. Max Pacioretty will have a little chat with Shannaban later this afternoon.

Although I didn't watch the game, I heard from friends it was a great game and was a fought hard battle between both teams.

Then the ugliness of Max Pacioretty shows...

Like they said in the video, McDonagh WITHOUT A DOUBT knows the hit is coming. He does turn into the hit, which is a sneaky thing to do. McDonagh does deserve some criticism for what he did.

I'm not trying to downplay the hit. Considering Patches' past, he shouldn't be going around recklessly hitting players like that, which makes me question his maturity level.

McDonagh nailed Pacioretty into the boards earlier in the game, so there was maybe some intent from Max.

Max also appears to leave his feet ever so slightly as well. This was exaggerated greatly by NYR coach John Torterella.

Rangers head coach John Tortorella was vocally unimpressed with the hit, venting his frustration to reporters after the game.

"Can I ask the first question? How high did Pacioretty jump on his hit, can anyone tell me?" he asked to kick off his post-game press conference. "I'm asking you guys. Over/under?"

When given an estimate of six inches, Tortorella responded bluntly with "You're wrong."

    taken from http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=416734

My verdict: A 1 game suspension. 2 tops. Max needs to stop being so reckless out on the ice, and McDonagh (and all players in hockey) needs to stop risking their own health for the chance of a power play.

  7. Hm... honestly if I'm Detroit, I pull the trigger on that immediately. Losing Howard would hurt, but I'm a believer in Petr Mrazek. He has game and is the goalie of the future. Can you imagine a line of Kessel-Datsyuk-Zetterberg? Or even Kessel-Datsyuk-Helm is scary...

If I'm Toronto I add Reimer and make you give up a young forward.

The Montreal Canadiens and the Tampa Bay Lightning have swapped a pair of AHL goaltenders.

On Thursday, the Habs sent Cedrick Desjardins to the Lightning for Dustin Tokarski.

Tokarski, who the Lightning selected 122nd overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, has played in 33 games with the Syracuse Crunch this season, posting an 18-8-4 record with a 2.46 GAA.

Desjardins is 7-13-2 with a 2.94 GAA this season with the Hamilton Bulldogs

    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Hm...

I watched Tokarski play in the world juniors a few years back, and he was nothing but spectacular. All I remember from that 2009 WJC (besides that AMAZING Jordan Eberle goal) is Pierre Mcquire, prematurely orgasming to the beautiful, once in a life time save Tokarski made against an American player.

Pretty sure he also led the Norfolk Admirals to the Caldar Cup last season, too.

    Tokarski has a very high ceiling, he could be a starter in the NHL some day... which leads me to wonder 2 things;

    1) Is Carey Price frustrated in Montreal?

    2) Is Stevie Y out of his mind?

Well, first thing's first. Probably not. Price just signed a 6 year deal, he's not going anywhere for awhile.

    Secondly... I think so...

I mean why trade a young, successful AHL talent who has a very high ceiling, for a life time AHL player, who clearly has worse stats when comparing the two? No clue...

Anyways, what do you guys think??

  9. Mistake me if I'm wrong, as I do not watch a lot of Flyers' games, but it seems as so that Peter Laviolette, has lost the respect of his team. It seems apparent that the players have just had enough, as they have not been responsive. Many could put the blame of the Flyers' slow start on Homer, because he signed Bryz and let Jagr walk.. but it is more than that, at least how I see it..

When I brought this up in the game chat a few nights ago, many of you were content with the idea, and brought up the concern "Well who is out there that we can bring in?"

Well, ladies and gentlemen, meet the (should be) candidates of the next NHL job (with the Flyers' or any other team)

    Dallas Eakins

Current Position: Head coach of the AHL's Toronto Marlies

I am a believer that Dallas Eakins SHOULD have been hired as the Leaf's head coach when the team decided to fire Ron Wilson. Instead, Burke decided to bring in old pal Randy Carlyle. Anyways, Eakins is leading arguably the best team in the AHL right now, and I believe much like Kirk Muller, he is the next young coach to get a job in the NHL. Also an interesting note, Eakins will be coaching the AHL all star game this season.

    Guy Carbonneau

    Free Agent

'Carbs' would be a great coach for the Flyers. He excelled in a defensive role in the NHL, after being a prolific scorer in junior (ala Coots?) winning the Selke trophy several times before retiring. While coaching Montreal, he lead them to a 1st place finish in the Eastern Conference when the team wasn't even supposed to make the play offs. He is an excellent defensive coach, good with the media and helped groom Carey Price into the goalie he is today, and Price, along with other veteran Habs' players will often speak of Carbonneau with praise and credit him for being a good coach. He is strict and disciplined, and isn't afraid to call out a slumping player. I wish Carbonneau was still coaching in Montreal.

    Larry Robinson:

Current Position: Assistant coach of The San Jose Sharks

Larry Robinson, hall of fame defenceman, is also a name floating around that could soon be hired as a head coach. He is often spoken of by his peers and by the media as the best assistant coach in hockey right now, so he has something going for him. He led the Devils to two Stanley Cups in the late 90's and early 2000's as the head coach, and again led them to the Cup finals last year as an assistant coach. He is a ''player's coach'' and is good with younger players.

    Steve Spott:

Current Position: Head Coach of the OHL's Kitchener Rangers

Spott was the coach of the recent Team Canada in the World Juniors. While the team did finish with a disappointing Bronze medal, Spott was a shining star on Team Canada. He has coached some of the best young players in the world, whether it be in Kitchener or in Ufa, Russia. He is an offensive guru, often creating plays that turn the other team inside-out and is the original mastermind of the infamous 1-3-1 forecheck system that we all know the Flyers' love.

Anyways, there you have it. Personally these four should have NHL jobs right now, but the Flyers' would be smart to snatch one of them up and I would guarantee that the Flyers' would be a better team.

  10. So, I've had these past few days off work and I've been playing NHL 13 on PS3, almost non-stop. I completely rebuild my Habs and led them to a few Stanley Cups. Then, I got bored and started over. This time, as your Philadelphia Flyers. I am currently in year 4 and here's what the team looks like....

    *red numbers = overall rating*

    LW C RW

    Voracek(89) - Giroux(90) - Corey Perry(88)

    Hartnell(84) - Tyler Seguin(89) - Ryan Clowe(84)

    Mason Raymond(81) - B. Schenn(82) - Simmonds(83)

    Byron Bickell(76) - Talbot(79) - Chris Neil(77)

    LD RD

    Timonen(85) - Meszaros(85)

    Chris Phillips(84) - L.Schenn(85)

    Foster(77) - Gervais(77)

Starting Goalie: Alex Fontinos(92) *drafted 3rd overall in 2013*

    Back Up: Alex Stalock(83)

What I did was, I traded some of the vets (i.e Briere, Pronger, Grossmann, Bryz, Coburn, etc.) for 1st round picks and tanked year 1. The result was goalie Alex Fontinos and he is a beast. Last season, we won the Presidents Trophy and the Stanley Cup, with Fontinos picking up the Conn Smythe, Vezina, Hart, Ted Lindsay, and Jennings trophies for his effort (47 wins, .945 sv%, 1.59 GAA. 11 shutouts).. Clowe was a great pick up from San Jose notching an average of 67.9 points per year since I've acquired him. G is doing great too, posting 90+ point seasons.. Seguin (who was a waiver pick up ffs {they need to fix that}) is excelling at the 2nd line centre spot, scoring 109 points last season while in between Clowe and Hartnell, who picked up a respectable 80 points. Corey Perry was literally stolen from Anaheim... think I gave up Rinaldo, a 1st round pick and Leighton for him (sometimes the game is stupid). The whole time I had him, I had him lined up with Schenn and Cooter (who is playing in the AHL right now, didn't trade him!) and he was only scoring 50 points, so hopefully putting him beside Voracek and Giroux will boost his points up...

Anyways, just thought I'd post this because I think this team is filthy and I may have to trade some guys away next off season due to salary cap issues... :(

Now that the negotiations are over, P.K. Subban just wants to play hockey.

The gifted defenceman, who missed training camp and the first four games of the NHL season because of a contract dispute, agreed to a two-year deal worth US$5.75 million with the Montreal Canadiens on Monday.

"I'm happy to be at this point and I'm looking forward to reintegrating with the team and helping them win," Subban said on a conference call. "It was about getting a deal done that was fair to both sides."

Subban, who was a restricted free agent, will be paid a pro-rated $2 million this season and $3.75 million in 2013-14 for an annual salary cap hit of $2.875 million.

The 23-year-old will join the team on Wednesday in Ottawa, but it was unclear if he would play that night against the Senators. If not, he will likely begin his season Saturday afternoon at home against Buffalo.

Subban said he has stayed in shape training with the Ontario Hockey League's Mississauga Steelheads and is ready to play.

"I'm very anxious to get back on the ice," he said. "I'm always ready to play."

Subban led the Habs in average ice time per game at 24:18 last season. He had seven goals and 29 assists in 81 games and was seventh among NHL defencemen with 205 shots on goal.

He was also among the team's most popular players and was a hit with the media, even if his attraction to the TV cameras sometimes drew raised eyebrows from teammates.

"I really didn't want to become a distraction and I think that's why this is the right thing," he said. "The longer this went on, the bigger a distraction it became."

His image took a hit with many fans during the contract talks, with some calling him selfish and demanding he be traded, but at least as many others took his side.

Debate raged among fans and media over what salary he deserved and whether he should be traded.

Both Subban and general manager Marc Bergevin said they weren't listening to what was being said, and concentrated on getting a deal done. It appears he got a bump from Bergevin's reported original offer of $5.1 million for two years.

Neither went into details of the negotiations, but it was believed Subban wanted a longer-term deal for more money and that the Canadiens insisted on a "bridge" contract of two years, likely with a longer deal to follow.

Bergevin, hailed by many on Twitter for holding firm, said there was no winner or loser.

"P.K. is happy with the deal," the first-year GM said. "I always wanted to sign him and keep him in the organization.

"That he wants to be on the team and help the team win shows he's not selfish. In any walk of life a little part of you is selfish, but the fact that P.K. wants to come in and help the team shows he puts the team first."

It was especially agonizing for Subban to watch games on television from his Toronto home and see his teammates get off to a 3-1-0 start without him.

But he dismissed a report last week that he had asked agent Don Meehan to accelerate the negotiations as "rumours."

"It's great to see how the team has come out of the gate," he added, with particular praise for veteran defenceman Andrei Markov, who leads the team with four goals.

Canadiens coach Michel Therrien now has a decision to make. Markov and Rafael Diaz have excelled on the points on power plays, where Subban normally plays as the principle shooter.

But the six-foot, 205-pound blue-liner should be welcomed back for his ability to lead the rush and play in his own zone.

Subban had 14 goals and 24 assists but was minus-8 as a rookie in 2010-11. While his goal total dipped last season, he ended up plus-9 on a last-place team while playing against the opponents' top units.

He is also considered a big part of the team's future, along with goalie Carey Price and forwards Max Pacioretty and Alex Galchenyuk.

Subban's return gives the Canadiens eight healthy defencemen, with Tomas Kaberle and Yannick Weber the likely candidates to sit out.

The signing came on the same day the Canadiens confirmed that rookies Galchenyuk and Brendan Gallagher will stay with the NHL club. The 18-year-old Galchenyuk was drafted third overall in June and has a goal and two assists in four games, while 20-year-old Gallagher has two points in the contests.

  12. Okay.. so. With Pk trade rumours swirling, I have just thought of a decent trade proposal between these two teams.

Marc Denis (yup, the retired goaltender now working with RDS) reported the Habs and Flyers were talking about a potential deal for P.K Subban all weekend.

Reportedly, the deal starts off with either Brayden Schenn, once thought to be the NHL's top prospect, or Sean Couturier going to Montreal, while Subban and maybe another defenceman going back to Philly.

Tonight, Denis reported this proposal from Philly to Montreal:

    To Montreal:

Brayden Schenn, Andrei Mezaros (sp) and a 2013 1st round pick

    To Philadelphia:

P.K Subban, Raphael Diaz, 2013 3rd round pick

    Hm. Okay.

A lot of you in the game chat didn't like that idea all too much. Some of you asked for a Diaz scouting report, so here it is:

    Biography

    Position: Defence

    Shoots: Right

    Height: 5'11

    Weight: 194 lbs

    Birthday: January 9, 1986

    Hometown: Baar, Switzerland

    Acquired: Free Agency, 2011

    Draft Team: Undrafted

    Draft Year: N/A

    Round/Overall: N/A

    Cap Hit: $1,225,000

    Scouting Report

Strengths: A smooth skater and a smart shooter. Makes the most of his limited size by being in the right spot positionally.

Weaknesses: Does not play a particularly physical game and while he makes the most of his size, he struggles somewhat when facing bigger players.

    Projected Role: 2nd pairing defenceman

Alright now here is the proposal I would send back to Philadelphia from Montreal:

    To Philadelphia:

P.K Subban, Raphael Diaz, 2013 2nd round pick

    To Montreal:

Brayden Schenn, M.A Bourdon, Nick Cousins, 2013 3rd round pick

Why YOU'D be smart to accept this:

Brayden Schenn would receive top line minutes in Montreal. He would grow to his full potential. But if he remains in Philadelphia, he is behind Briere, Vorachek and give or take Couturier on the depth chart.

Bourdon, I think is a defenceman who could grow to be an NHL regular. He isn't Subban but he will replace a spot in the bottom 6.

Cousins had his reputation damaged with legal issues a few months back. Great talent but he is going to have to work really hard at cracking an NHL line up.

As for Subban. I know a lot of you aren't sold on him. Let me just say, that with age will come maturity. He has the TALENT to be a top 5 defenceman in the league. He has as good of offensive awareness as anyone in the league, past or present. He hits, he fights, sticks up for team mates, he chirps, he (occasionally) plays sound defence and he plays 20 minutes a night.

I'll leave you to discuss this in the comments.
