  1. I saw the post too... it's fake. all you have to do is read the posts directed at the fake admin and then read his responses to know it's fake. Doesn't matter though... the place is dead
  2. I'm very surprised as well. For whatever the reason, never did I think this team would enjoy the success that it's had so far, nor did I expect them to be this fun to watch. The apparent energy that is back in this team has be the most pleasant surprise to me. The number goals given up it hard to look beyond, especially since we targeted that position with the highest priority this off season and appeared to have had it covered. The other thing regarding goals against is the alarming number of goals scored with just seconds to spare, or just under a minute or so in periods. When you can't close out an otherwise strong period without letting in a crapper is frustrating. I wish there was a way to look it up quick without looking at every box score but it certainly feels like we've given up way more end of period goals than would be desired (as if giving up any goal is desirable)
  3. even better when they can't play because Shelley is eating up a roster spot AND tying up 1.1 mil for a whopping 2 TOI per game
  4. work ethic and whatnot are important but I for one wouldn't hold things coming easily for someone against them. good for them. For this Flyers fan, I was never a fan of his shoot first always mentality. The fact that he'd almost never pass the puck until there was absolutely nothing he could do with it, at which point there wasn't much the rest of the team could do with it either. The fact that he was a line cancer. Whatever line he was on never really had any chemistry. I viewed Carter as someone who played on a team but wasn't anyone's teammate.
  5. And when they can miss a high stick to Max Talbot's face.....
  6. I don't want to trade away Bob and I don't want to trade for Carter
  7. This is the strategy I thought they should've employed the first time around. Could've been coincidence but the team's chemistry certainly appeared to take a hit when he joined the lineup last time .
  8. another quality both Voracek and Couturier have. we're gonna lose count soon
  9. take both Voracek and Couturier an compare their "sweet feeds" to teammates and compare that to Carter lifetime and the Flyers still win. The one thing I will not miss with Jeff Carter is how he always seemed to be a line cancer.
  10. fine them! maybe go a step further. As it is now, when they call diving, they usually call the other player too. Like high sticking for one guy and unsportsmanlike on the other. When a dive is involved, let the person doing the diving be the only one getting a penalty, even if the other guy deserves a penalty. And slap another 2 on top of it. 4 min unsportsmanlike. That would get their attention more than a $10k fine or something cause it effects more than just their wallet. $10k is a lot but not that much when you're bringing in millions a year.
  11. Enjoyed his dust up with Staal there at the end. Like the snarl! keep it up.
  12. So far he hasn't been lighting it up. he's had some good games but most he's been relatively invisible. Recently though he seems like he's starting to get comfortable. That pass he made tonight to Read really shows that. You don't make that kind of pass without feeling a certain level of confidence and chemistry. Fantastic play! I like!
  13. I complained about the officiating in another thread. I'm all for letting the guys play, and I'm also for consistent officiating. At the end of the day though, I hate to admit it but I'd rather consistent officiating OVER letting them play. The rules are the rules and if you break a rule, the penalty HAS to be called. Nothing bothers me more than penalties being let go one minute and called another in the same game. It's like the strikezone, then need to establish what they're going to call and call it every time. And stop the stupid "he's got a rep" crap. Rinaldo did NOT charge what's his name at the beginning of the game. Bradley absolutely should've gotten an instigator penalty (btw, I hate the instigator penalty but as long as it is in the rule books....) Talbot high sticked a guy and he bled a little fine... but how the heck wasn't it called the other way? Because neither ref saw it? So what? I think the evidence is there that something happened. I doubt the refs could honestly say he highsticked himself. I'd love to see the NHL make wholesale changes with the way the game is officiated.
  14. that's funny, I was saying the same thing to my wife last night, literally.
  15. totally. I said this in another thread. That's what stuck out to me the most. I'd have laid into them in the dressing room if I were Miller.
  16. How did Bradley not get an instigator for the fight with Z R? he clearly had his glove off way in advance. How did whoever the heck it was not get anything for knocking Talbot's teeth out? I'm not sure if he really lost teeth or not but if that isn't the definition of "players need to keep control of their stick" I don't know what is. In the mean time Talbot got called for 4 and the guy was barely bleeding. I'll take the win but inconsistent officiating is driving me nuts. And no, I'm not trumpeting the "wah wah wah, the refs are out for my Flyers". The examples I brought up are legit and should've been called different, no matter what teams were playing. And okay, in case people think I can't see things both ways, I know Lilja got away with a pull down along the boards when he was falling and grabbed the Jersey of a Panther from behind and drug him down with no call. My take? Call that **** then. Jesus, call penalties that are penalties and leave penalties that aren't alone. I'm tired of seeing guys get called because they have a rep. And I'd really like to see the NHL implement some sort of system where if the ref that is further away from the action calls a penalty, he has to confer with the ref that is the closest first to determine if he saw what he thought he saw. The ref could either say "nope, it was a good play" or "you know, I didn't get a good look at it, let's go with your call"... you know what? as I type that, I don't like that either. The fact that these guys can make "judgement call" penalties is just as bad. Okay, done ranting.
  17. who didn't see blood pouring out of Max's mouth?
  18. I don't get it either. In the beginning I used to say "wow, look how cool calm and collect Bryz is" now I find myself saying "move damnit!" He had a strong game tonight and has been looking much better than the start of the season where he had that rough patch
  19. I've been saying this forever as well. It's up to them to leave the crease therefor it's up to them if they want to be protected by the crease or not. If they leave the crease, they should be fair game
  20. How did Rinaldo get a charge on an otherwise great clean check? How did Bradley not get an instigator for the fight that soon followed? How did whoever the heck it was not get anything for knocking Talbot's teeth out? I'm not sure if he really lost teeth or not but if that isn't the definition of "players need to keep control of their stick" I don't know what is. I'll take the win but inconsistent officiating is driving me nuts. And no, I'm not trumpeting the "wah wah wah, the refs are out for my Flyers". 21. haha, Cousins looked like he skated directly over to the guy and cheered the win right in his face. Not saying he deserved to get slashed like that but you have to expect something bad is going to happen when you act like that.
  22. Nice! Of course if that were Bryz or Bob, I'd be wondering why my team didn't do a better job of getting his back. Sabres looked soft going after Lucic
  23. right, that's what I meant then. My scenario doesn't have the Flyers calling on re-entry waivers. That would be stupid to do so when you know a team is looking for that player. That's why I was confused about needing to do that in order to trade a player. No team in their right mind would recall a player they know another team has interest in. You can't quite trade a player you know a team will grab off of waivers. So with that in mind where is the incentive? There isn't any. The waiver rule is designed so teams don't stock pile players only to have them rot in the AHL. But if a team has an NHLer in the AHL, and they can't trade that player without recalling them first, then the team wouldn't bother even looking at the deal because no trade would be needed, the team could just grab the player, at half cost and half cap hit. Hence my overall point from the get go. It doesn't make sense to me that a team would first bring a player through re-entry in order to trade them. Which to me goes against what the waiver rule was protecting against in the first place. the rule might be the rule but it deems dumb to me. Looks like the Flyers will be letting Leighton walk at the end of the season since there really isn't any other viable option without penalizing the team in some way.
