  1. I am glad for a high skill vet presence on the team, I think it was something lacking last season.

I'm with you. You NEED vets on the team + he is high skill. It was missing last year. I don't think we are in as nearly as much cap trouble as some are making it out to be and our only REAL need is another goal tender, especialy if we bring Gags back for one more year on wing. Another option is to unload one defencemen and spend that 4+ mil on either a winger or a better d-man... The hysteria will continue no matter what though.

  2. I will post what I posted..somewhere..yesterday. Heck, maybe in this thread? Coburn was developing/arching nicely...then he took a frozen puck to the mush. He hasn't been the same player since...for whatever reason.

Maybe he still has a concussion!!! This is quite the debate but one has to wonder if Coburn is worth the attention  . But, it's been a long time since I have been one here so it's nice. I say we dump him while we can and work on getting our other goalie we need and ASAP.

  3. What are the chances of them getting the same thing out of Morin that they are getting from Coburn? I say highly.

Just curious... This is based on what? It happened once with Cobie and now we are doomed to repeat history over and over? Besides, Coburn will be gone soon enough. We need his 4.5 million in cap space and if any of our Phantom "kids" are gonna get a chance to develope someone has to move. (unless you are counting on Mez and Gross crappping out again this year which is a distinct possibility)

  4. A shame really that Homer at least tried to do what everyone here has been screaming for him to do for so long (draft defenseman, show some patience) and he still gets ripped around here.

Thats what I was thinking. No matter what Homer does he can't win. Someone said Morin shows promise but it was bad management of the pick. What the heck does that even mean?

  5. No... That's a no brainer. Even thought about saying that I think the lack of patience is the biggest concern. However, Homer has a boss also, so maybe it's not his fault. At 80 years old maybe Snider is feeling that pressure to win before it's to late. Bad business decision but a very humon one.... Besides, NO ONE new what Bob was going to do this year, not even himself. You say hindsight is 20/20? Your right. Deal with situation realisticly though, at the time. That changes that 20/20 view.

  6. Homer can't win no matter what so we just as well should have fun making fun of him. If he does nothing, he is an idiot. If he trades, he is an idiot. And tomorrow he will choose who ever he chooses and he will be... an idiot. The guy can't win with the fans... But.... he's the millionaire and the one running the team. Hmmmm???

  7. I'm painting with a wide brush. But so was he. This isnt a Flyers "board" but rather a Flyers "topic" on the "board" ... He's another fan. He has the right to express him/her self without being told "this is Flyers Only, Get lost". The site needs to grow. Thats not how to do it.... Best regards, Idaho.

  8. OMG!!! I wish I had something funny or enlighting to say but I don't... But, I bet the Flyers fans will be hating on Mason before the opening faceoff... There are 5 top sports in Philly. Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, Sixers and and goal tender hating....

  9. How could I forget those two???!!! Any how, you know this is gonna be a shixt storm in about 10 days! I just can't wait to see everyones reaction. I kinda go with " oh well, thats what they did how do we make the best of it" kinda philosify. But no matter what, others are gonna have a meltdown. Maybe even Snider or Homer are gonna have a meltdown.... Fun to watch if not tragic...

  10. So reading all the press and articles and rumors we have this... so far.

    The Flyers are interested in-

    Brad Richards

    Berneir

Big "butt" Byfuglin ( I just threw up in my mouth typing that)

    Ryan

Thomas (after he has a serious weight losing program)

and a few others I'm sure I forgot.

That's all over the freakin map!

Is there a plan? I'm sure there is. Chaos....

  11. Hey @flyercanuck

What do you think about a column with "point percentage?" I think it maybe defeats the whole purpose of either points or percentage but how about "Flyers have played 37 games and have 35 points. This is a point/game percentage of .946" and rank the teams in standings according to this. It gets a little wonky when you have a team going 22-13-2 because you end up with a 1.xxx in the standings but it still reduces things to apples-apples at any given snapshot rather than having to do the calculus of "but team Y has 3 games in hand" yadda yadda. You get to keep the 2 points win, 1 point for showing up in OT thing but have a more balanced way of producing the actual standings.

No matter which way you do it, it changes NOTHING at the close of the season but makes things a little more accurate along the way.

So then why does it really matter if the outcome is going to be the same anyway?

My plan: 2 points for a win, 1 for a tie and no shoot out. OT is 12 min long. 4 at 5 on 5, then 4 more at 4 on 4 and then the final 4 at 3 on 3. First goal (if any) wins in ot. The winning team gets 2 points, losers zero.

I would just do both methods. The points trump the % but at least you see through out the season who is winning at a higher %. The % thing would just be an FYI and not count in the final standing... Anywho, thats what I would do....
