It might have been said later in this thread, but we have to up Giroux dont we? If so, Briere will be bought out and Read might be the odd man out. Defence is our first priority and there just arent too many kicking around

This team has scored 6 goals in 5 games. Special teams are brutal. Really brutal. This team does not attack the net. Watching Giroux, its much more noticeable how he never attacks the middle of the ice anymore...opting instead to cross the blueline and pull up just inside the blueline looking to make a pass. This system of Lavys makes it laughably easy for teams to get 3 of our forwards trapped behind the goaline and breakout on 3 on 2's with ease. This team isn't anywhere near Stanley Cup contender status. I just wish they wouldnt embarrass themselves as they did last night, with such a brutal effort and so much quit in their game. They flyers would do well to acquire PK Subban. With Timmo done this yr and Mezs so injury prone, things arent going to look up for a while. PS...anyone else notice how tired and stressed lavy looks on the bench?

Good energy just not a lot of finish. Too many missed net opportunity from the d (which has become a hallmark of this team) and of course, Simmons. No offense outside of the G rush. That's not to say guys weren't 'playing' hard, i just didnt think there were many opportunities to score, esp from our secondary units. Power play better smarten up. Got to win tomorrow. 48 games seasons dont wait for any team.

Geez. Nothing good rarely comes from these types of charges....EVEN if he is innocent. On the cbc main page it says FLYERS prospect charge with sexual assault. The optics are so bad.

I think this is a mistake by giroux. He needs to keep stuff like this under wraps for two reasons. 1- he sounds like a whiny beach 2- he is only pointing out what the target should be for every opponent.

While Weber would have solified things for the next 14 yrs, i look at New Jersey's dominance over us as the bigger hurdle. And yes, weber would have helped there too, but unless he played 60 min the result would have been the same. The flyers young forwards just weren't prepared to play a defensive game after that goal happy pitt series. This fault falls on the coaching and implementation of what 'defensive' scheme lavy instituted (or didnt) New Jersey held all momentum and puck pocession. We couldnt break out of our end for how many games? Look at what LA did in the final... The whole 5 man unit play has to improve. I would be willing to sacrifice some offense to be a more sound game. There has to be a strategy somewhere between Hitchcock and Lavys systems. So, not having given up the core of solid young prospects (both current roster and non roster players) in pursuit of Weber will help us down the road, hopefully. cheers-

Thank you! I'm not sure why there needs to be a huge overhaul. The nucleus is under 26 with a smattering of vets. I would love to get Doan, however, Ryan comes at the expense of some of our youth for sure. There is nothing wrong with being under the cap. No reason to spend it for spending sake. Build a nice cushion and take a run at Weber.

I haven't watched a game since the flyers lost. Usually, after committing so much time (every other night) to watch the flyers (inevitably lose) games, i have had enough. Was thinking the other day that i might not be a fan of hockey, per se- but a FLYERS fan. I watch olympic hockey feverishly, regardless of teams though, which seems odd.
