  1. Personally I think were deffinately going to make it in the playoffs. And in all honesty I think we have the ability and potential to be a Stanely Cup team.... But with the way things have gone so far and from what weve seen this year, it's not going to happen. But this is the first year with the "new" team so I think, hopefully, next year it will be more put together and set in stone, and we will being a championship in the near future.

Also with the attitude & relentlessness of our team, and the way they play and step it up when it comes to the PO's, I think well be in pretty decent decent shape. Also I think (....more like pray) Bryz will step it up and really shine the closer we get to the end of the season and into the PO's.

  2. The Flyers have fallen into 6th place in the eastern conference.

In all honesty (based off of what you think, not what you want) do you think the Philadelphia Flyers will get make it to the playoffs, how deep into the play offs do you think they will go, and do you think that with this team this year we would have a chance at winning the stanely cup?

I have my opinions but I want to hear what other people think as well !

  3. I totally agree. And one thing that I cant stand, is fines. Staal was only fined $2,500 (which is the maximum possible amount the league can fine) for the cross check on Couburn during saturdays game. That hit was a reaaallllyy bad hit, and it's only 2,500 ? Thats nothing compared to how much these guys make!

I also can't stand how inconsistant the reffs are with calling penalties during games. Its a joke. They call the stupidest little things that didn't even happen, but when there's a big obvious penalty, they dont call it.

They need to get their act together & start being more consistant.

  4. Well I've had concussion's before and the one thing my doctors said was that I was not allowed on the computer, or watch tv or anything unill the later stages when I was almost fully recovered cause it's really bad and can make things worse, so I'm just saying if he's allowed to do those things, he should be getting closer to his return.

And as for his playing skills, yeah he hasn't really lived up to what we expected. But then again he is only 21 and he could just be in a bit of a slump. But I hope he steps it up soon cause he is a real key player when he's doing what he's supposed to.

  5. JVR has been on twitter & other social networking sites alot recently, but I always thought that when you have a concussion you werent allowed to text, go on the computer, or even watch tv. So if he's allowed to do all those things, I'd assume he should be getting close to recovered and coming back.

  6. Those are alot of great points. Personally, I think that putting in the red line would have no affect on the concussion issue what so ever. It would just slow down the game. Now a days players are faster, bigger, and stronger, and there's no avoiding that.

Most of the concussions come from hits. But I deffinately think there should be stronger enforced rules on hitting and the league should review all even slighty contorversial hits in depth, whether the player got injured or not.

  7. There has been such a big concern with the ammount of concussions that have been occurring recently in the NHL.

One thing that has been thrown out there alot while dicussing the concussion issue is weather to put the red line back in. By putting the red line back in would be to slow the game down, and by doing so will reduce the amont of concussions.

I just want to hear what other people have to say about the red line debate, and what needs to be done, if anything, to reduce the concussion rates.

  8. It thought it was a headshot & Talbot was totally deffensless! I think it is possibly Suspension-worthy, but I'm not sure wether Staois will get it though because Talbot returned to play & isn't injured.

What really ticks me off is how Staois was sitting on the bench with that smirk on his face, grinning and laughing after the incident. Total disrespect. If that was his teammate, he would be irrate.

  9. @doom88 yeah I didnt mean to select "off topic", I did it on accident & then it wouldnt let me change it!

but yeah I agree with all of you guys, I think they deffinately all deserve it, & I think Hartsy shouldve been selected too.

I think kimmo should stay home, its an honor to be selected, but he is a little on the older side, and he's such a key player to our team, I don't think they should take the risk. Especially since the game is totally pointless.

Besides that, I think they're all deserving of all-star status!

  10. Today it was announced that Claude Giroux, Kimmo Timonen, Matt Read, & Sean Couturier will be going to the 2012 All Star Game in Ottawa.

I just want to see what everyone else's thoughts are on these guys getting picked.

Do you think they deserved it, or if there were other players that should've been picked over them?

  11. I don't believe it was totally an illegal hit, Gilbert was playing the puck. Was it a classless hit, yes but illegal I don't think so..

I agree, the form of the hit seemed legal for the most part, but the circumstance was totally inapropriate and it was stupid and unecessary.

  12. @emwags618

Carcillo hit a defenseless Gilbert violently into the boards prior to Gilbert touching the puck.

Carcillo received a major penalty and a game misconduct for the play.

41.1 Boarding – A boarding penalty shall be imposed on any player or goalkeeper who checks or pushes a defenseless opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to hit or impact the boards violently in the boards. The severity of the penalty, based upon the impact with the boards, shall be at the discretion of the Referee.

This is in no way clean. Carcillo deserves every minute and every $$$ lost with his suspension.

I didn't know much about boarding & hitting rules, but I looked them up and read through them, and now that you say that and now that I know the rules, I completely agree that it was illegal.

Carcillo needs to get his act together.... It's good to be a physical player, but he's just stupid. Sooner or later no team, coach or fans are going to be willing to put up with him.

  13. looked like a clean hit to me :D

    I said the same thing.

Other than it being a really BIG hit, I kinda thought it was clean... Yeah it looked really bad, but I think the reason it looked so bad and the reason why it hurt the both of them was because it was at such a fast pace & they hit eachother really hard. But that's just my opinion, I'm not an expert !

  14. I'm not saying that D players aren't doing well as individuals, all of them are deffintely stepping it up with Pronger's absence, but also any defense is going to struggle a little after losing their #1 defenseman for the rest of the year. They're not doing horrible, but they're also not playing as well as the could be or as well as they have played in the past. And if a team is having struggles with their goalie, the defense should step it up and play 10 times harder.

Anyways, regardless of the defense, I deffinately think right now Bob is looking like a #1 goalie & I think he would be the one to take the Flyers somewhere. I think they should have Bryz sit and watch and collect himself a little bit and get back to the basics.

  15. It's a mistake signing anyone to a 9 year contract... yes, even someone like Ovechkin (notice his lackluster performance this year?). Crosby, same deal. He's a generational talent, but saddled with concussion problems now. Can you imagine if he were signed for another 8 or 9 years?

The CBA really needs to address this after next season because it appears that GMs need protection from themselves.

I couldn't agree more! For Bryzgalov, thats almost 100 million down the drain, all on a goalie thats already creeping towards the end of his career and who is totally flopping on us and not living up to what we thought he was. I think it's outrageous and stupid to sign huge contracts like that. PLayers are always getting hurt & always up and down with their performance and its all just a waste of money.

  16. I'm hoping they'll start Bob in the WC!

Obviously Bryz hasnt done well against the Rangers so far this season, and I think having Bob in there will give the guys the boost that they need to win it.

I've noticed that Bryz really rellies on his D more, and with the D struggling a bit like they are now, I deffinately think Bob is the way to go. Bob doesn't have as much relliance on the D.

Also, Bryz might have been a #1 goalie over on the west coast, but it's a completely different game & atmosphere over here on the east coast. I don't think he'll be able to vut it as a #1 in philly. I really think it was a mistake signing him for 9 years. He's not the youngest, and were spending ALOT of money on him, when we have an amazing upcoming star and prodigy in Bobrozsky.

I say let Bob be their starter and have him get the feel of it. After all, he's not going to become a Stanely Cup-winning goalie by sitting on the bench everygame watching Bryzgalov get all the shots.

  17. I'm honestly surprised he's lasted this long in the NHL. I don't know how any coach would be able to put up with him! I'm all about playing physical and being tough, and i completely understand that hockey isn't a very nice sport, but Avery crosses the line. He's straight up dirty and disrepectful with the way he plays, and it disgusts me. He really is the most hated player in the NHL, and I hope he never see's the ice in a game ever again !

  18. Who do you think should be the starting goalie for the Flyers, Bryzgalov or Bobrovsky?

Personally I think Bob should be the starter. He has already proved that he's better than Bryz, so I'm not sure why they never have him start! Am I the only one that thinks so??

I just want to see what everyone else's opinions are.
