  1. I heard on PHLY there are a number of free-agent POW goalies hitting the UFA market this year. That's where I'd try to find a backup, I sure as hell wouldn't spend any sort of asset to get a guy now. I like Ersson, he's got that dawg in him, he's not a flake. I love how competitive he is. I think he's the #1, finding a dude like David Riitch or Ilya Samsonov for 15 starts a year until an in-house option becomes viable is the way I'd go.
  2. I would continue to bury him in the A. As the Russian goalies come over...just continue to Milton him into the basement and take his swingline stapler. No one would claim him off waivers. I'd keep the buyout for Atkinson maybe.
  3. Do you change the ask for a top prospect and a 2nd or 3rd then? I think that's how I would direct offers from those top tier teams that need an elite penalty killer. I would like to see the boys sell high on some of these guys for a change. I have enjoyed this thread, seeing everyone's thoughts about what they'd like to see the Flyers do. It's been pretty fun.
  4. Count me as a fan of this kid Tyson Foerster. That kid is strong like bull along the boards, makes nifty little plays in small spaces and sees the ice really well. Top it off with his poor skating being the reason to keep his feet moving all the way to the man, he's sneaky good defensively. He doesn't take lazy stick penalties because he's skating to the man's chest. Now does he always stay on his feet?....welllll . Let me just say if Morgan Frost were to play like Tyson Foerster he'd be a 85 point player, easy. His shot is ++. I think ol' Chuckles found a good one. He looks like a boy even with the facial hair, but he's a killer and as he mans up he's going to be a ****** handful. I really like watching him play.
  5. Realistically, does that 2nd rounder have a chance to help the team in the next 5 years ? I think this is the math that's being calculated as we speak. Seeler helps to create culture and can play a little. I can see the point of those who think a 2nd is beyond fair value based on league history, a 2nd for a 5-7D is "good value". Is it good value to the Flyers though? I think ditching either one for less than what Jonesy and Danny think is fair is not worth it. Seeler especially, is cheap, he'll gladly become the 7th if there are better guys for the first 6, and he'll do whatever to help the team. That's his jam, I value it. Walker has been a set him and forget him 2nd pair guy. He's a smart player . Those guys don't grow on trees, is there a second pair set him and forget him guy in the system? does a 2nd pick grow into a valued piece of the team or a top 4 guy? I don't know man. I'm glad it's not my job to make these value determinations. I can see all sides of the argument. I think if the offer for either isn't what will help the team, then keeping them until later for a sign and trade or just as a few years bridge to let young guys develop isn't the worst thing to happen. I cannot argue against the team needing more high-end skill. I see more than a few teams drafting top 5 and never making it count. The team is too depleted of players who've won or have been moderately successful pros and it's a lord of the flies situation.... How is the value determined as to which is more of a priority? It's not easy.
  6. I can't really beat anyone up over this. That kind of hindsight, while devastatingly accurate 4 years and two back surgeries later just wasn't in anyone's awareness at the time. His last healthy season before this one, he was a Selke winner, even though there are hard miles on him his game is such that he can age gracefully. No one was thinking he was a guy to be moved.
  7. I hope he gets pushed to a #7. I think there's a difference. I thought Cam York played pretty well offensively today. I thought he was pretty good in his zone too. If some of these young guys with upside can break into the lineup because they're better and this version of Seeler becomes your #7... **** I'll take that all day. I do like what he brings to the table and I do respect his determination. There are worse things than having that guy in the organization. like I said in the Pens game thread, this group has made me feel some pride about being a Flyers fan again and I'm good with it. Nick Seeler and his **** all do whatever is asked attitude is part of the reason. He's exhibit A for fighting for every inch of everything.
  8. Crosby with another great day vs the Flyers. Of course had the emergency goalie played maybe he only has a 3 point game. This group (the Flyers) has me proud to wear my logo gear again. I'm good if the management decides to sell off some guys and improve their draft position. This team's roster isn't winning a cup, will never, win the cup. Time to make some moves toward that ultimate goal IMO.
  9. I think this weekend should be instrumental toward taking advantage of the available assets. I shut Drysdale down. Let him heal, start fresh in 2024/25. I trade all the UFA defensemen. I healthy scratch Cam Atkinson for the rest of the season. I give extended looks to Ginning, for you @BobbyClarkeFan16 Attard and Andrae. If someone wants to get crazy to acquire Scott Laughton, then okay. I know Jonesy in particular loves him and stated it would need to be an overpay because he feels indebted to Scott's leadership the last two years. Should the Kuch-show come to town and light the boys up then it's time to Sell Mortimer, SELL!
  10. That's a lot of dude to throw hands with. 6'8" ? That's total knuckledraggin' goon territory. Then the *****' kid goes and pots the game winner. Sheesh. Definitely a great scrap. Good on Nick D for giving the kid a go and then fighting him to a draw. Nick's a tough cuss and a class act at this point in his hockey life. Rempe looks like he could be terrorizing the league for years, he can play a little too.
  11. A Flyers win could make it really hard on the Pens to make the playoffs. I like the younglings playing meaningful games down the stretch. It will mean less imo if they don't win any though. I don't hate the Pens the way I used to, I mean I still hate them but not with the intensity I have for the Rangers and Devils. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't cross the street to pee on Malkenstien if he was on fire. He's still an ugly goon and Crosby is still the most punchable Jonas brother. But seeing those guys wind down is a little sad. Anyway, must win for the Flyers, will a loss trigger some trades?
  12. I'm not impressed by that Rangers team. I see them choking at some point because **** those guys. I sports hate them so much. I wish they didn't have those sweet unis it makes the hating harder because...it's a great look. Anyway I'm of the opinion that the blowout game last year when their asshole fans took over the WFC was the event that spurred Jonesy into doing something. If I remember that correctly he was sickened by that and said so on the broadcast. So too bad the Flyers couldn't capitalize on their opportunities because the effort was there. It was a game they should have won even without their best player. They played well, I'm not one for moral victories especially against those rat **** bastards. Great fight between Meatstick and Delauriers. Nick is the real deal too, tough as a 3$ steak. That is a lot of kid to trade hands with- he dealt as good as he took. Great scrap.
  13. but really is this what we're hearing from people with the power to make the decisions or is it speculation by "insiders"? Jonesy has been giving interviews locally and nationally the last 2 weeks and he's saying "we need more skilled players". Fonzie has said he's spoken with likely trade candidates to let them know they may be moving. Fonzie says he likes this team but he knows they need more skill guys. Danny has been quiet but the last time he was quiet the team traded a malcontent potential top 6 forward for a potential top 4 defenseman. I'm more inclined to listen what those dudes are saying than I am say hockey rumours 404 dot com's take.
  14. Just all of the decision makers saying they know the team isn't a cup contender. Like I said somewhere else earlier, until they show themselves to be bald faced liars, I'm going to take them at their word. Not one of these dudes has hedged on needing more skilled players, not one. They have said the Drysdale deal changes priorities for the kinds of players they're seeking.
  15. I could get on board with a Konecny trade, but it would have to be for a true stud and not golden tickets to buy magic beans. His age and the way he plays makes this a tougher choice for me.
  16. I think at least one of these guys should be out the door this trade deadline. Along with Mark Staal I think the Ristolainen situation makes dealing with the two UFAs little more delicate. If there is interest in Risto and he can be moved, it wouldn't be the worst thing to have a dude like Seeler to play as the #7 or if Seeler is moved to use the Risto money to sign Walker for a few years so the team can get to Oliver Bonk and Emil Andrae without having to rush them.
  17. Well yeah, that's a start. They have rid themselves of aging vets and malcontents and that is something that hasn't happened for a minute. This is the first trade deadline for this leadership group, we'll see what they do you know? Talking to a player's agent about what it would take to extend the player shouldn't be viewed as prelude to an unavoidable disaster. I think we haven't seen competent management since Homer's bike accident and none of us remember what it looks like. I think knowing what it will take to resign a guy in case another guy can be traded is good preparation.
  18. I think like the Kings, if the Flyers continue to rebuild they may step back and miss the playoffs next year. If I remember how that went correctly the Kings made the playoffs and were everyone's rebuild darlings then **** the bed for a year or two before really getting it together. I can see a scenario like that playing out here. It might mean the Flyers are ready to compete for real in 25-26 or maybe a year later. We'll see what happens in the near future, the deadline and moves around the draft will shed light on what we can look forward to.
  19. The leadership team has repeatedly said this very thing often and recently Define what you mean. What's the same old because I'm not seeing it yet.
  20. He's done it 3 times, so far counting his breakout year pre COVID. I think the 'VID messed a lot of guys up add to that becoming a new dad. That also ****s guys up, remember not sleeping for a year and a half? Good times.
  21. I know, that would have been the time to sell high on G though. Instead they continued to (not ) build around them VeeGees. A GM could have broken up the band and maxed out the return. Built around Couturier, Provorov and Konecny with the high picks and prospects G and V could have fetched.
