  1. I think Washington is a dangerous team. there is still a lot of skilled guys on that roster, their problem is between the ears, so who shows up tonight ? the team that came from 2 down with under 4 to play wednesday or the one that quit friday vs the devils...

i think bryz gets into the double digits before he gives one up tonight, it looks like he's got some of his swagger back.

    10

  2. you're very kind Andy,

my expectation for that guy was put him back there and forget about him... he'd be solid, stop all the one's he should maybe steal a couple occasionallyl, we're paying him a lot of money for many years to be "that guy" and to this point he's been anything but.

so i'm with Jim on this one, he needs to put together a month of solid play before i'm taking down the stuffed animal with the 30 jersey from the voodoo effigy hanging wing of the mojo house. :D

  3. @flyerrod

yeah, but shelly's good in the room... note the use of the sarcasm font :D

monoboy is a natural centerman, so throwing him out on the wing might not be the best indicator and use of his skill set, plus if you need to see what he's got you haven't been paying attention a whole lot to his play, the kid has played in all situations, has great hockey iq, a good shot, **** i don't even see where his skating could improve...(that was the only knock on his scouting report) maybe his first step, but he's not slow... he's been freakin' great this year.

  4. @RonJeremy

Suter can be had for money only,

i'm curious as to who else is out there we could deal JvR for ? who would be the ideal replacement for Pronger after Weber ?

do you think Chicago would consider, brent seabrook, or duncan keith in some kind of block-buster deal multiple players and picks exchanged ?

    LA deals Doughty ?

a smaller type deal where we resign Carle and trade for Yandle from PHX ?

i don't know the FA pickin's aren't abundant and I don't know who would be available via trade that would be worth giving up roster players....

  5. playing even .500 the rest of the way i think we get in, but i think the team is better than a .500 team , lots of games in the division remain on the schedule so it's time to nut up.

once in it is as someone else said up to Bryzgalov, he plays well this team can go deep into May/June. good speed , good skill, good veteran leadership. if we get good goaltending too we'll be a team no one wants to play.

  6. @Phillygrump

I think the Penguins lack depth, their top talent is very very good but after Malkenstien and Stall, it's a pu-pu platter of Darrol Powe types...with their forwards and after Letang and a slow Brooks Orpik, not a whole lot to crow about on the blue line. Fleury has been struggling to find his game, they're not the chalk.

    they're very beatable.

the broons are having the same trouble we are , they aren't very consistent , one night they're getting 5 the next night they're giving up 9 odd man rushes and scoring nil. if Thomas reverts to his career baseline play they are a good team but beatable, he needs to be voodoo awesome again and that just doesn't last for long unless your name is Roy or Broduer

  7. @RonJeremy

the way the series between the teams has gone lately that's sort of par for the course, we owned them for like 10 prior to this snap we're in now.

I think these new big guys will provide more of what the skeptics are looking for in terms of, making the front of our net an unfun place to be. i'm looking forward to the defense improving even more with them... and it's not like, as everyone likes to say here, it has sucked all year; it hasn't, it has actually been decent, but the poor play when it happens (and it happens to everyone) gets magnified by atrocious goaltending.

We keep our foot on the pedal, while they're content to chip the puck to center ice and try to counter punch on a mistake once they get a lead, myself, i'd rather dance with what brung me so to speak than going into a defensive cocoon and abandon the forecheck...

i think the rangers are a good team, don't get me wrong, but i also see a team that has really benefited from our goalies pooping the bed and not a team that has owned us. they've won ; but only the last game was a stinker and that was only until again our goalie let two behind him in three minutes kind of killing the mojo. the game was tight and back and forth and fun to watch to that point.

  8. I remember watching this team of Flyers impose their will on the Rangers for 40 minutes, On New Year's day... but not for two wtf momentum killing goals from Mike fing Rupp we win that game. and people aren't choking on girardi and stall's knob... that team is far from perfect, and i bet they don't have another gear come playoff time... we're seeing the best they have.

sorry not ready to anoint them to anything but a real good regular season team. and if their defense is so good how does john scott get ice time ?

i would take that mcdonough though he's fing good....

  9. Good,

    i'm happy keeping 10, 14, 21...& even 25 .

if universe can turn it around to the point where he's average, we'll be a tough out. we got lot's of speed and offensive talent i think the new knuckle scrapers on the blue line will fit and make it more difficult around the net for opposing forwards...

if we can stay intact i like our chances as much as anyone's

  10. After watching the Rangers and Devils last night, wow, those teams aren't Juggernauts, by any stretch. That game was painful to watch, there was no space but there was no forecheck either. from a fan perspective you had to really be into defensive hockey to enjoy that mess.

If we get average goaltending , middle of the pack goaltending, we will be tough to deal with. i know this is a rebuilding year, but there are no teams in the east that can roll out 3 legit scoring threat lines like we can. We have guys that step up in the playoffs, 48, 28 , 68, 27 and hungry guys that want to make a name for themselves 10. 93 17 and even 21. if universe can turn it around and be average, we can beat anyone in the league, amd with the right breaks four times out of 7 for some teams we've had trouble with. i can totally see it with this group.

  11. Not sure who made themselves better at the deadline, NJ by picking up Zidlicky, not so sure about the rangers and bruins, the broons got a lot of defensemen . Not sure what is going on there. I don't see where John Scott helps the rangers a whole lot. The pens didn't make a move and they are ripe for the picking if Crosby remains unable to play.

Just glad we have our young group in tact .

  12. So who in the East got better ??

i'd say the devils picking up that zidlicky, not sure about the Broons or the Rags, i know the Rangers got J Scott from Chicago, i don't know how that helps them except for depth...

the Broons got a lot of defenseman, rolston, zanon and someone i've never heard of Mottau, i wonder what's going on there ? Boychuck still out ?

  13. @Spinorama

well said. i can abide not wanting to see him become a jd drew type, but i really think 21 is learning that it takes effort to be a good pro, and i think he wants to be a good pro.

i thnk his linemates might have something to do with his "resurgence" as well, the lines he's been on since he's been back have looked dangerous...

  14. @Spinorama

i wonder if actually being healthy might have something to do with his improved play...

he's been knicked up for most of the year. abdominal injury , hip thing to require surgery to correct, concussion. i dunno i might not play my best if i had things like that going on with my body.

i'm hoping the team stays in tact in these last hour and 15 minutes (less of course Burke wants to take Bryzgalov off our hands ) . i think we'll see 21 playing to his contract soon, and that includes the raise he gets next year.

  15. Nikolai Khabibulin of the Edmonton Oilers, Jean-Sebastien Giguere of the Colorado Avalanche and Ondrej Pavelec of the Winnipeg Jets.

none of those guys excites me enough to give up JvR...or Bobdrovsky.

i know we're not dealing from a position of stregnth here but if he's moving those guys a legit # 1 needs to come back the other way , not ; has been, has been, never was.

i don't care that Pavelec stood on his head the other night either.

  16. @

I think JvR has been put on a line where he'll be able to make some noise, if he shows up... frequently he Schenn and Voracek have looked very good. they're fast, big, and are all strong on the puck once they get it. must have been chief berube to come up with that combination.

i guess Pete must have dinged your car door in a parking lot and not left a note or something, i don't get what seems to be blind hatred for him from you based soley upon his performance.
