Letting guys develop in the A or wherever is better than rushing them to the bigs.

    See: Drysdale,  Jamie.

The pick brought back (Laughton especially) while there is still term on his  contract, is how valuable?

Seeler is still cheap and if he turns back to a frog or pumpkin can be jettisoned when the team is seriously ready to compete.

This group was never going for a full tear down. They watched the other tenant in the building do that for 5 years, now 8 years later that tenant is no closer to winning a championship than they were when "the process" started.

There is Michkov in the wings. Some guys on this team could be something,  there are many picks in the first two rounds of the next two drafts. They can be used however- there is cap space...

It's not going the way some want it to go, but I don't look at this group as a finished product. I expect parts to be moving in the off season.

I expect players I like will be elsewhere in the next 2 seasons.

Huh? I haven't heard this anywhere.

His contract was terminated and he came over. He was 35th in save percentage in a 33 team league. I'm sure the Flyers may have paid something but it's not like he's highly coveted. His size will certainly help, but I'll assume it'll take him some time to get used to the NHL game.

The team kept the Feditov move really quiet until he was here.

    That's all I meant.

Wednesday's news  Feditov self terminates his Moscow contract.

Friday morning,  here's Ivan sitting next to Danny.

    It was unexpected and rapid.

Fill me in on Fedotov....he supposed to be good?

    He is enormous.

    He is also pretty athletic.

He was considered a project when he was drafted, but then he had some really great showings in some adult/pro international tournaments.

When the Flyers signed him to his entry-level contract, he was widely thought to be competition for Carter Hart, who was struggling, thought to be from the isolation during the pandemic but we now know differently.

    He could be good.

The dude is definitely a fighter.

We got two of them now in the net.

    I hope it works

4-18-4, 3.66 GAA, .880 Save Percentage.  Granted, he wasn't playing for the greatest of teams, and often got the second of back-to-backs, but there's probably enough games to sense he should move on.

Head on back to the SHL where he'll be fine.

  5. I think this man's life is worthy of a book or Netflix series...conscripted into the Russian Army, served in the gulags.

returns to hockey, somehow appears back with the  north American team that drafted him after 3 years of little to no contact.

    It's crazy.

The Flyers have been a high-event hockey organization since they mounted the coup d'etat of the Scott/Fletcher/Camillo regime.

YouTube "content creators" were commenting on Coots' looking tired.  Yeah...nearly eight million for a fourth line center....yeah, baby!

eh, I don't think Couturier's washed up yet.

I do think he's worn down.

I do think his body wasn't prepared for a Tortorella team 82 game season after missing nearly 2 years.

I think we will see more of "first half of 23/24 season" Couturier next year.

Now he knows he can do it, and what he needs to do to be better.

Those youtubers can f- all the way off.

  7. the loss in Montreal could be seen coming for months.

Our guys are banged up. They put out extremely high effort for most of this month. There was a game every 2 days this month. (kinda like the playoffs)

That loss to the Rangers, they emptied the tank-so...

A stinker was bound to happen.

They looked gassed in the limited viewing I had during the Habs fiasco.

Maybe a guy draws back into the lineup, maybe one of these Russian goalies can spell Ersson for a minute.

I'm on the record of liking Samuel, but he's shown he isn't ready to be the man yet.

    Edit: That doesn't mean I don't think he's #1 material, I think right now he's better suited in a 1a/1b type scenario.

I don't think he prepared to be the starter for this year.  I'll bet he was pretty stoked he was going to be Carter Hart's backup.

Add to this, the Argo-type smuggling of Ivan Feditov from Russia and the demotion of Felix Sandstrom, maybe the Flyers have just created that 1a/1b scenario

A podcast I listen to had a question, if you could do the '19 draft over, would you as the Flyers take Cole Caufield or Cam York?

I thought this was an interesting question and until this season I felt overwhelmingly weighted toward wanting to have drafted Caufield.

Today I'm feeling pretty good about the Flyers pick.

Also, the potential butterfly effect of having a "scorer" in the system would have had on the Giroux trade, the Michkov draft and the Foerster pick.

The Flyers still need a few those wizards that can make something out of nothing ala Bread, Pasta, MacKinnon, and McDavid.

However, the solid play of Attard and Ginning makes me think our defensive corps could be the strength of the team for years to come.

The Flyers may not have that true # 1 but if they have 3 2's and 4 3s...that's a lot of quality for the hardest position to play in the game.

Most guys are on good contracts (Risto excluded) It could be the group the lifts the team.

  9. @Digityman

I don't know man the Caps schedule has some high-powered opponents left, they get Boston twice, the Leafs, Carolina, I don't see them running the table.

In fact, they'll be lucky to go .500 over their next 10.

I don't think they're catching the Flyers unless the Flyers really stumble. I think the Flyers can play .500 ball the rest of the way and still keep their spot.

  10. sink or swim time seems to have been tread water and barely keep your mouth out of the water for this bunch.

That was a bunch of good teams in a short period.

I cannot fault the team's effort they left zero in the tank, they played well enough through the stretch that some of the results feel unjust.

the Panthers game and truly last night vs the Rangers were great efforts.

No moral victories in pro sports though, I hope the young guys seeing the ice in these games can use this experience for the rest of their careers.

Brink and Foerester have been noticeably good in this stretch. Bobby had 4 or 5 really strong shifts against the Rangers in his 12-13 minutes. His offensive instincts are special and he was good on the forecheck.

Cam York has been pretty damn good in this stretch too.

  11. I will add, it has come to light that Adam Fox is a *&)(&()^*^%*&$^*&^*%&*%^ing rat **** bastard.

It is my sincere hope that the next time the Flyers play that team, someone maybe Garnett Hathaway runs his punk, puke-faced, ass into the future.

Such a bitch move punching a player (York) who was engaged in a battle and not looking, in the face, and then that ************ gets the game winner?

I guess that's the result of dressing the knuckle dragger Rempe, guys who aren't tough think they can be?

**** that guy, he's no Charlie McAvoy.

I think they did go in for a playoff run that’s why they traded for Johnson and that’s why they kept Laughton and Seeler.

yeah, but this omits trading Walker.

He was by all accounts the 2nd best defenseman on the team.

I think his play driving was the best of any of the blueliners.

Seeler was injured the week before TD week.

    Can't trade an injured player.

Sending a message to the players.  "you matter too" was important to Danny.

So that's why the price for Laughton was too high and he went bargin-bin shopping for an NHL body for defensive depth.

I’d almost say that Gimning is actually looking a bit better than Attard

But you didn't, so I know you're still okay.

In no universe is Adam Ginning better at hockey than Ronnie Attard.

When Ginning is on the ice he defends. A. Lot.

It's good that he can do that part of hockey, because the part of the game where he turns the play around to offense is not good.

    He defends too much.

If I'm on the bench vs the Flyers, I'm telling my guys to dump to his corner 100% of the time.  And my guys will get to the cycle game 80%.

York played 30 minutes, beat up Sanhiem 26:30,

Next closest guy is Zamula with 18.

    Attard 15:47

    Ginning 14:19

The team is defending by will alone.
It's like Pronger and Timonen minutes for York and Sanhiem.
