  1. @hf101 Hackett, Hexy, Boosh, Leighton, Bob, Bryz, Beezer, Chechmanek, Esche, Biron, Nittymaki, Burke, Snow. That's all I can come up with.
  2. For those of you that are happy with this signing, look at years 4 and 5 of the deals to Vinny and Streit. It will hurt us if they do not produce at all, almost 10 mil of dead cap space. Would you be OK with them producing as much as Briere did this pass season? Also the resiging of G, B. Schenn, Coots (if neither is traded) and what if Mason turns in a great season, you think he will resign for 1.5 mil again? Plus we will still need a backup. Sorry to ruin your high but I see these long contracts hurting us to keep our young core together to grow, fix our d and goalie issues. Once again they have no long term plan, they trick us with the draft about fixing our d prospect and homegrown players. With moves like these they will not have patience in developing the prospects and will be trading them away for quick fixes. I know the truth hurts but it is what it is with the Flyers.
  3. @toughfighter83 So you are satisfied year after year of them winning 1or 2 rounds of the playoffs? You are happy with that until you die without ever seeing them win the Cup? Are you Ed Snider?
  4. @off_the_post Homer? Is that you?
  5. I've posted in another thread stating that Snider is in to make the playoffs and make money. If they win the Cup it's just a bonus, this move looks like to me to sell more tickets for money. Seriuosly, they paid alot of money to buy out Bryz so this move will return some of it.
  6. Dump Mez and Coburn but we would be gutting the team to get Weber. Still have a ? In goal.
  7. @mojo1917@Jmdodgesrt4 Not sure how much he makes but we would need to shed serious salary to add kane and a goalie.
  8. https://mobile.twitter.com/ALLsportsINTEL FLYERS - Source - Team does not want to move Coburn, trying to package Couturier with either Grossman or Meszaros to get a buyer. His tweets has them talking to Jets also, I'm not sure how credit this guys is but seeing the tweets of possibly trading Coots is making me sick. I will be piss if we do end up giving away Coots because of Vinny. If we somehow upgrade our d then it's a different story.
  9. This is gonna hurt signing the rfa next year unless he's planing on trading one of the young guys.
  10. I'm seeing 5/6 years @ 5mil per year. Another old guys taking Cap space again, when will he stop signing old guys. I was close 5/23.5 for 4.7mil per year. That means Gagne not coming back?
  11. @Dynamo 47 I doubt Preds make that trade, I wouldn't. Jones is a potential franchise dman and Coburn is what he is. Plus Jones will be on a elc contract and that is a lot better then Coburn @ 4.5 mil.
  12. That bolded statement also is reason why they won't hire gms outside the organization. He wants guys that played here to be his puppets, making sure they make playoffs to make money. They making money part might not be true but seems like it, he's thinking one of these years the Flyers will catch a break and win it all. Just like how we almost did in 2010.
  13. NHL - Islanders are reportedly talking to the Sabres about Miller and the Blues about Halak, Isles looking to add a Goalie through trade. 5:19pm - 1 Jul 13
  14. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/sports/flyers/Flyers-in-talks-with-Simon-Gagne.html Flyers in talks with Simon Gagne POSTED: Monday, July 1, 2013, 4:39 PM Sam Carchidi It sounds as if the Flyers will bring back popular left winger Simon Gagne only if the price is right. Gagne, 33, who had five goals and 11 points in 27 games with the Flyers last year, can become an unrestricted free agent on Friday. “We’ve had a couple of conversations with his agent, and we will continue to talk,” GM Paul Holmgren said on Monday. “We have interest in bringing him back, but limited cap space.” The cap has dropped to $64.3 million this season, but teams can go over it by 10 percent in the summer. The Flyers have about $4.2 million of cap room, but it climbs to nearly $11 million with the added 10 percent cushion. Once the season starts, they will put Chris Pronger on the long-term injured list and get $4.9 million of cap relief. The Flyers reacquired Gagne last year from Los Angeles by sending a fourth-round pick to the Kings. The veteran had a pro-rated $5.25 million cap hit last season and will be paid a lot less this season. Gagne began his distinguished career with the Flyers in 1999-2000; he was their first-round selection (22d overall) in 1998. Follow Sam Carchidi on Twitter @BroadStBull. If they can bring him back for around 2mil per year, that would be great. He can still play on the 3rd line and would like to see him retire in a Flyers jersey.
  15. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/We-Could-Know-About-Vinny-and-Danny-Soonalso-Miller-to-East-Horton/1/52474 Vinny has gone from wanting a short-term deal to a 5 or 6 year deal and it appears three teams are out front at this point... The Flyers are the favorites, but the Stars and Red Wings are also very interested... I will be piss if he signs here but the term is ridiculous. Loooks like Homer is going for big names yet again.
  16. Be careful what you wish for. What goes around comes around, you guys will have trouble with the cap in a few years. Our goaltending option is not much worst then you guys. lol
  17. I agree with what most are saying, keep the defense intact as is even if we move Coburn. We need to give these young guys playing time to develop and see what they bring. I am for keeping Mez around til the trade deadline, his value is probably not much atm. If he comes back this year healthy, he can help and if we stink we can get a good return from a contending team. We are not a Cup contending team now, if we were I can see the push to sign Vinny.
  18. If the Preds gave up on him, not sure if I want to sign him. Only if we desperately need a backup there.
  19. Anytime bud. After all we, are rooting for the same team to succeed
  20. That might be true Jack but we saw his potential on offense during the first few years here. He had a great slap shot unfortunately that side of his game couldn't be develop so we were expecting more then what we are getting. Same thing with Myers in Buffalo, he showed his potential in the 1 year and now has gone backwards. They would probably feel the same way we are with Coburn or I put to much expectation on Coburn.
  21. I never said the Flyers did not developed him, I said the Flyers can't develop dmans to their potential. I didn't hear about Atlanta was frustrated with his development, I remember Wadell was looking for a veteran defenseman to help push them to make the playoffs. Yes going back to juniors is to work/develop their game I agree. You stated that with them going back to junior it's the responsibility of the NHL team to develop him. I disagree with that. Only when he turns pro is when it's the NHL team's responsibility.
  22. Winterhawks is his junior team, has nothing to do with Atlanta. Where do you get 5 season from? I see 3 between Wolves/Thrashers unless you adding his junior team. He was traded halfway into his 3rd season with them.
  23. When a player gets drafted by a team and he returns to junior or whatever team he plays for, that is out of the organizations hand to develop him. When they turn pro by making the NHL or AHL club is when the team can develop/teach him. By your reasoning as soon as the player gets drafted he is in development by his drafting team, that makes no sense at all. Giroux spent a few years in the AHL to be developed and was still developing to where he is today. Perfect example is Laughton and Cousins are not being develop by the Flyers yet until they get to the Flyers or Phantoms. I did not make any claims that Coburn spent time in the Thrashers for awhile, you did (7 years) I stated that he spent 3 years, give or take. And development doesn't stop once you make the big club. Not trying to argue or call you out but just making my points clear.
