  1. Wow, that's a tough question. I picked maybe. I do not think we'll be going to the playoffs under ANY circumstance but I wonder what Jagr might be able to do with this bunch of lost boys. I think he did a great job last year in mentoring the young guns and would think he hasn't lost that. If he could help to get them out of this funk, I'd be for it, especially if they took Gervais and Foster ;) or maybe the playoff scoring sensation, #48....

  2. @Jmdodgesrt4 - problem is, the Flyers don't have the defensemen to play that kind of system. Other than Timo, do you really feel comfortable seeing these guys pinch? None of the others are what I'd call "skilled".

problem is, changing the coach isn't going to change the lack of defense. Whether you agree with Lavy's coaching style or not, think he's a good coach or not, etc, the truth is we don't have a very talented team (defence, goaltending), which I believe is having an effect on the offense.

  3. I'll ask you the same question I've asked everyone else.....how is fighting necessary even if it is just for certain circumstances? What circumstances?

It appears to me that players took less 'liberties' in the day when they were allowed to police themselves, when there was the fear of retaliation from a teammate. I understand that players are bigger, faster, stronger than they were years before, but it seems to me the major injuries were a lot less back in the day than now. Why, I can't say for sure but the league has not done a very good job of controlling these things (and Shanahan less so). There is no consistancy in the application and it just gets worse. I long for the old days, that's all.

  4. You can have the staged fights, I hate them and think they break up the momentum of the game. I do think, however, that fighting is necessary under certain circumstances. It is the policing that should be done on the ice, instead of the refs calling phantom penalties and 'trying to take control of the game.' That pizzes me off even more than the phantom fight....

  5. I know many on this board were/are not fans of Bob, but I hated to see him go and wish we had him back. I think he'll turn out to be one hell of a goalie (the kind we need now). I feel it was very short-sighted of the Flyers to trade him away. I think we should have stuck with him and the rest of our young core to allow him to develop instead of signing Bryz to an albatross of a contract which will probably be bought out anyway, with NO backup plan.....

    Sad..

  6. Thrilled to see him back. Thrilled to see him score.

He was always my favorite Flyer and he's looking healthy. I hope he is able to stay until he retires. He deserves to retire a Flyer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. I was loving Milbury's rant. It is so true and was great to see someone FINALLY SAY IT!!!!!!

Have never been a fan of the "great 8"!!!! He has that air of being above it all and it does nothing but hurt the team. I can't imagine his teammates can stand him with the **** he pulls.

  8. Nice read! I'm a huge fan of Pronger and his game and you definitely explained all the reasons why. He is a beast and I miss him every game! I hope to God that his issues will not follow him for the rest of his life. The man deserves much more for all he gave to the game of hockey!!!

Thanks for the words. Just a reminder of how much he's missed on our team!
