  1. Wow man at first glance that lake doesn't even look frozen.....
  2. @brelic I have a feeling too that Holmgren will wait till the offseason to address this issue. I am worried that this team will get eaten alive with D we have in the playoffs, yet if we do sell the farm we will be right back to where we were last year. When Gus comes back we may have a better look at what this team needs.
  3. Would Walker and Shelley get it done for Weber? Tough blue chip players; one the formidable anchor of any teams blue line, the other an offensive juggernaut that can contribute in any situation. Fingers crossed. OK, ha ha me trying to be a funny guy. In reality, I think it would take a lot more than this team is willing to deal to make this Sutter trade happen. Our offense is clicking and our D is lacking. The only asset worth a damn that we could give up is Bobrovsky and Nashville is not in need of his services. I hate that Pronger is hurt, but maybe we need to look at a 3/4 guy rather than a 1/2 guy.
  4. @Dynamo 47 Did you play in a local league. I was in some house leagues that were a little more physical than others. I can say that while playing in HNA I experianced a broken foot (slap shot block), cracked ribs (missed a hit), and now have what I believe to be arthritis in my wrist (I refuse to go to the doctor and ask if I have athritis at 34). I was lucky to not have any concussions from ice hockey; however, I did suffer two in my life. One when I was really little and tried playing the Greatest American Hero off the top of a sliding board, another when I was in my early 20's also from falling from about 6' on my noggin. I am glad that people are starting to recognize the impact that these injuries have long term.
  5. @brelic If JvR and a high pick got it done, I would be all over that. Sadly, I suspect it would be more than JvR and a pick to get that deal done.
  6. Wait, your doctor had a watermellon in his office? By chance is your doctor Gallagher.
  7. Looking at the womens faces in the stands is priceless.
  8. @PhilsFanDrew I hear you, but since we we're winning HBO showed the world just that. And Avery is such a douch with the GQ crap. I just don't like him. @hf101 Bryzgalov was very candid for the camera. I loved how he described Philly as "goalie hell" and that no serious netminder wants to play here since they get eaten alive. I like the blast that Jagr had about coming to Philadelphia over Pittsburgh, but let's be honest, was it his heart or his bank account that brought him to Philadelphia? I like Jagr, but I feel like he was spitting out the company line for the camera. Let's hope he starts to get real in some up comming episodes. Talbot still has the same ugly Christmas sweater from last year's installment. Good to see that he is consistent. Giroux is an absolute monster. I like how he is pissed that he is hurt. The league needs more players like him. I am shocked the Richards and Carter were not mentioned by name. And lastly, the locker room dance is whack. If it were any other team in the league we would be ripping them apart, but since it's the Flyers and it's working, I'll learn to like it. Next week I think will give us a little more insight on the team's behind the scenes life. I would like to see the Briere household with the rookie. It kind of reminds me of Miss McGill's house from the movie Youngblood. All in all I think HBO does a great job with their 24/7 series.
  9. @Podein25 Long live the king or all things hockey and logic.... er, I mean Kings.... What do you call a king with multiple personalities? We? King George and I? Ahhh fak it. Man I am not even conversing with him, nor have I read his drivel in nearly a month, and my brain hurts.....
  10. Lower body = ****** is hurt So glad this guy is gone.
  11. @flyerrod I too am trying to remember who that was. Was it FlyersCanuck's cousin? That's pretty bad though when a teammate will not sign unless Avery is gone.
  12. F him, he is one of the biggest peices of sh!t in the game. I would make him walk to practice if I was Tortorella.
  13. @Leach27 Leach I think a lot of people are pissed, but there is nothing anyone of us can do. Simmonds probably feels like the biggest a-hole right now and there really was nothing that he could have done to avoid the contact. If he slid, he would have wiped Giroux out from the knees. If he turns to the boards he risks injuring himself. Giroux missed the check and was in a bad spot, sh!t happens. He'll get better and this will all be a distant memory. Let's save the worrying for now and see if this team can maintain it's composure. Time for fat head JvR to step up his game, Voracek to finish, Read to continue being Read, and Cooter rising to the occasion.
  14. I would have rather seen Anisimov pick up the puck after scoring the goal and spike the puck like a football and break out the Icky Shuffle. That is probably the only way he could achieve higher douchdom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8f-m-Fmd1lY
  15. If Cake Boss John Stevens takes over, that team is in a world of sh!t. The NHL is a strange animal in that they tend to sh!t can coaches right arounf the holidays. Maybe Hexy will intern.
  16. I would say MR is a little better than a 3rd line center. He is on pace for a 66 point season. Not too bad. I too thought the Kings would among the leaders in the NHL right now, but it is still early.
  17. @aziz Agreed. It is looking more and more like he is done for the season though.
  18. @idahophilly It's a tough call for sure. Schenn is having a bad battle with the injury bug, but I too would hold on to him for awhile being that we are very strong down the middle. Bobrovsky may be the blue chip in the trade, but I am nervous giving up on him too. For now we are winning and Holmgren should wait till March to figure out the club's plans.
  19. @Irishjim Jim I agree with the Pronger idea. We are winning and that is what matters. This team has become too hung up on Pronger and he is starting to remind me of Forsberg with the whole foot saga. If Pronger retires does his salary come off the cap? Schenn at this point is frustrating as all hell, but I say we stick with him and see where he develops. Let him rest and get a little more time in the AHL and see what he's got come Feb or March. If he still hasn't clicked then we can attempt to move him at the deadline for some D help. In all seriousness this D will get eaten alive in the playoffs and that will force Holmgren and Co to over react and overpay for some dusty old fart. At this point if I were Holmgren, I would be shopping for a good sized stay-at-home defensemen ideally with a right-handed shot. I like Marc-Edouard Vlasic, but I doubt the Sharks will bite on that unless the deal is too good. Hey how about Kim Johnsson? He should be almost free. If he still in shape and can play then why not offer him the league minimum to get back into the NHL.
  20. Yeah it was a plastic cup. The youtube quality is poor. I recall this game clearly. I was living down in North Carolina (actaully surprised that it was televised) and my roommate at the time was from Buffalo. He was livid, I was happy as can be. Anyhow, yes it was a cup of beer...plastic cup with about a 1/4 of the beer remaining. The sound bites from the ESPN feed were great. Never forget that game or that playoff run.
  21. @brelic I guess I should read my posts before I hit submit. I meant to say "like" school on a Saturday... Malkin has no class. It's a play on a quote from the movie, Fat Albert. I know kind of sad that I can quote that movie. Anyhow......
  22. Look school on a Saturday, Malkin has no class....
