  1. I think you're missing the point. MacDonald was not going to turn that contract down as no other GM in their right mind would give him that deal. Schenn is a two year bridge contract and Giroux is thw subject of this debate. If he's shipped out I'd say it would be tough getting LT deals without a lot of cap crushing contracts with a lot of team unfriendly clauses.

Just my 2 cents though and stranger things have happened in the NHL

  2. The more and more I look at it, I think the Flyers are stuck with VLC. The Kane aspect is interesting, but a butt ton of space would need to be cleared. Maybe Umberger and Schenn for Kane and a 2nd. However that still leaves a gaping hole on wing......I am glad I am not thw Flyers GM because this is a giant crap sandwich that Holmgren left Hextall.

Oh well I give up. Happy 4th of July, it's drinky time.

  3. @aziz I see what you did there. Perhaps Kane? I'd be ok with that if that were the case.

@Mario99 I think I now see your line of thinking, so after all your proposition is not dumb at all. I mistook it as getting an over the hill LW'er and shopping Schenn just for the sake of getting cap compliant.

    Cheers

  4. Ok I retract a previous statement that I made earlier. This is by far the dumbest $hit I have read this summer.

Schenn is 22 and has far more value than that dinosaur VLC. I think VLC will be gone before opening day. Trading youth now would be a major step backwards.

  5. No offense but this is by far the dumbest $hit I have read all summer. Fisrt off G is human and had too much to drink. This is a non-story. Second, what player is going to want to sign a contract with the Flyers if there is a risk of being shipped out before it kicks in?

If this were the regular season maybe this would be a bigger issue, but it was the off season and it was Canada Day. Next moving along...

  6. So he's playing a little grab a$$? My goodness a "MALE OFFICER"?  :o  :o  :o F'n fudgie caught doing a little frottage. There was a guy I knew who used to do that in clubs to girls, you know walk by and brush their butts with his hands. Well turns out he was a serial rapist that is spending a LONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG time in jail. Not saying Giroux was or is that, but he definitely is guilty of a little grab a$$.

  7. It probably will happen soon. He is a good player, but does not fit the make up of the Flyers roster. I'd imagine that he'll go to a team that will basically guarantee him to be a 2nd line center or better.Kind of like the deal Jagr got a few years back.

I do not know what Holmgren promised VLC last summer, maybe he thought he could convert Schenn to a LW or something along those lines. I also do not like Couturier and Read on the 3rd line. I want to see if they can actually become prolific scorers. The make up of this team is not good.

I'd like to see if Simmonds can flip to LW and play on the top line and move Read to the 2nd line. Who knows?

  8. Zac Parise? Whoops not 2003 I guess.

My guess is they go with a forward and the best one available on the board at 17. Being this is Hextall's first go around as a drafting GM, my guess is he'll go rather conservative. I'd imagine Kapanen or Larskin. I'd lean towards Larkin due to his USHL development program and his size.

Now if Hextall goes big, I can see them trading the 1st overall and a solid roster player (B. Schenn) to move down. Perhaps make a roster shake up with Edmonton and take Bennett, but that screams re-build in my book.

The only way I see the move down happening is if Schenn cannot be signed to reasonable terms and a cap floor team would be willing to take him on.
