You are correct, it's not true. I haven't read his response yet, but it's possible he's referring to the Flyers' record in the Consol Energy Center and is joking that is home ice.
Sorry Rux, I'm a little slow today... thanks for clearing that up for me! And I agree 100% -- can't wait for game #1 in their barn
-
If the rangers win the pens have the home ice,If the Flyers win the Flyers have the home ICE !!! ..
I don't believe that's true, I think Game 1 has already been scheduled in Pitts regardless who wins tonight.

TFG - that's some good stuff, there; classic! +1

I was hoping for a 2nd but can't say I'm surprised...

There will be a shift - but you'll also see a shift in what the cable/network providers will allow - or attempt to allow.Exactly. Have you ever tried to watch a network TV show from your provider's on-demand library? The FF feature is disabled so you are forced to watch their commercials (usually just ads for other network shows they're promoting). Drives me crazy!

I had the pleasure of meeting the man back in the mid-eighties as a young Flyers fan. He was obviously in a hurry but he took the time to stop and talk to me like I was the most important fan in the world. A truly genuine, honest, and nicer man I have never met since. He will truly be missed.

Trade him now, his value will never be higher...

Holmgren, Hextall, Burke, the beer guy, whomever -- I don't think it will make much of a difference as we all know who's in charge of this organization. The culture is driven from the top-down and as Snider's said repeatedly there's nothing wrong with the culture in this organization.

Did anyone see this interview with Downie?
http://video.flyers.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=473579&catid=772
Looks like West German BMW may have found their new spokesperson.
Ouch. That's painful to watch!

The move solves none of the Flyers problems. But is it a short fix to win a few games... yeah.I'll tell you what, if anything I'm now more inclined to watch the next few games, if only to see what effect adding Downie has on this stagnant lineup.

FC -- good point! Silly me, I was just going by the rulebook and forgot to factor those "extras" into the equation
-
Please pardon the ignorant question but does the 7 start as of last night or include any games missed while pending his hearing?
Thanks for the knowledge....
I'm 99% sure that the 3 or 4 games that he's missed already count towards the total.

I fully expect singing to happen soon... A monumental trade, Homer being fired, etc....
^^ This ^^ I think you nailed it; I fully expect Holmgren to be watching the Flyers' next game from his barc-o-lounger while perusing the Want-Ads.
-
Let's be honest, with how many coaches this team has had in how many years, aren't they all just "interim" coaches?
-
So... are we to assume we are now entering the countdown for Homer's head?
My money is on "no" -- this will be this year's excuse; "...new coach, new system.." etc. Lather, rinse, repeat. I'm SO glad I gave up my season tx last year to this cluster****.

Wings-Avs hands down the best NHL rivalry of the 90s.
Two words: goalie fight! (one of the best ever, i/m/h/o)

I can't think of a more brutal playoff loss by any team...ever.
Boston's game 7 collapse against the Flyers in 2010 after being up 3-0 in the first period is the only other one that comes to mind... granted, that was more of a "series" collapse as opposed to a single game but it was still spectacular to behold (even if you weren't a Flyers fan )

Considering Shanahan's latest nonsensical rulings I expect nothing less than for him to get this one wrong as well.

The more I watch the replay of this goal the more furious I get... this guy just flat-out sucks any momentum this team generates right out of the game time after time. Imagine what this team would be like with some consistent goaltending. Throw Mason out there tomorrow -- Bryz needs to sit. For a long time.

While letter of the law, I still do not like that hook call. If it doesn't impede the player, they really should let it go. At least I didn't see a chicken wing for once.
Remember the good old days when you actually had to commit an honest-to-goodness penalty while already down a man to go down 2? What a joke this league has become.
-
The pens get that pp given to them to tir it up? You know its coming
Right about.....now.

Rindalo is Avery 2.0 with less talent.
Really? Now you're just being silly. Taking talent out of the equation (I'll grant you that Avery had *some* skills when he wasn't acting like an @ss) then Rinaldo doesn't even register on the Avery D**k-ometer scale.

Seems like he's been 32 for quite a while.
Is he playing tonight?
I believe he turns 33 on Friday All indications are that he'll be playing tonight.

Flyers hire Patrick Sharp
in Philadelphia Flyers
Posted
...and now another ex-Flyer joins the fold. From the Philadelphia Inquirer today:
Two days after the Flyers added former Flyer Patrick Sharp as a special advisor to hockey operations, they announced John LeClair, another former Flyer, is joining the new front office in the same capacity.
