He is a stud, spoke with him following the Leafs game last Tuesday. But he is a defenceman so can't expect him to carry a ton of the load offensively.
-
I would agree, the two of them are just insane right now, but yea Hudler has been great.. quietly putting up great numbers.
-
Things would be a lot more interesting if the compensations weren't so dramatic or steep. You would likely see more offer sheets I feel and then stepping on peoples toes wouldn't be such a big deal.
-
Zuccarello and Subban filed for arbitration, and therefore are ineligible to receive an offer sheet.
Aww true. Likely best for them, especially Subban is definitely deserving of a huge pay increase and Zucs could also have a good case for a steep increase.
-
When it comes to their D, I don't think their a lot slower, I mean Gunnarrson was never very quick, and Gleason definitely was no speed freak, but well see what happens.
I don't think it's Shanahan turning people away, I think it's the lack of success with the team the past few years.
-
Yea that number now is unheard of. He was definitely not given as much respect it seemed, especially when he was in Toronto, where I watched him the most. The Leafs have not had a dynamic one-two punch since the days of Mogilny and Sundin.
-
Yea, but unfortunately that is nothing new to Canada. They have a history of doing that, but all in all I have high expectations for the boys this year.
-
Exactly... and when was the last time after Parros we really saw a player get hurt in a fight (there likely has been some but I dont remember hearing any).. Meanwhile headshots, hits from behind, etc have caused lots of injuries.. the same kinds of plays players will resort to if fighting is removed.
-
I am all about teams having enforcers (though I know they are a dying breed), but they also have to be at the very least, decent hockey players as well.
John Scott struggles to be even a marginal hockey player, let's face it, so really, his only value is as a Cro-Magnon on skates.
That in itself wouldn't be so bad, however, when you pair his 'skill', with uncontrolled play like he displayed in his latest adventures, you just have a guy who really doesn't need to be in the league any more.
I agree 100% and what I was trying to say.. It's one thing to be an enforcer its another to be a dirty good like Scott!
-
Thanks.
As for Reimer, I wouldn't get rid of him just yet though I agree if you're going to trade him anywhere Edmonton is obviously the place. As for Edmonton I think Brian Elliot could be another name to look at.
-
Is saying that one team is dirty really a valid reason to also be dirty?
-
Yea I have nothing against Reimer and before the season started when every analyst said Bernier already had the reigns I felt Reimer had the edge having had a great year and a great last season. However, from what I have seen Bernier's technique as ^you mentioned seems better and I feel now you ride the guy who is playing well. If Bernier has a good game tonight I think it will be hard for him not to play on Thursday as well.
-
Yea, I still don't think they'll make playoffs. However, I think they could surprise people, they seem like a team everyone already expects to fail but with the new additions I think they could could compete. Possibly push for one of the wild card spots come playoff time
-
Yea a better coach wouldn't hurt. As for Huberdeau he should put up great numbers as long as he doesn't hit the sophomore slump, but I think playing a full 82 game season will be great for him and give him a lot of chances to hit that next step.
-
Thanks hf101 I didn't hear that but that's stupid of a man to rip on rookies in pre-season, especially when he is the one who helped bring them to Calgary, just makes him look bad.
Thanks yave1964
OccamsRazor, I haven't heard much about him, but that position is wide open, so really could go to anyone. And thanks for the read lol
-
The problem with players like Clowe, Jagr and Ryder is the are not Parise, Kovy and Clarkson. The skill level is down these guys are in big trouble
Exactly, what I was trying to say. These are good players, but they are trying to fill in for great players. It's not an improvement..
-
thanks.. and very well lol
-
Yea I like the signings of Clowe, Ryder, and Jagr I just don't think they will be able to fill the void left by Kovalchuck and Clarkson. I would have liked to see these signings as well as another top forward. But yea they're going to have to rely on their defense once again, well see how that goes. In the end I dont see them making much if any significant jump from the same spot they finished this past year.
-
I just think that Kadri needs to watch not having a Subban like contract dispute, where he asks for a ton of money when he has only played one decent season in the NHL. There is no doubt he will be and is incredibly talented, but he needs to prove that this season wasn't a fluke. He will make the big bucks in a few years but as a sophomore he isn't god yet.
-
Yea, that likely seems like the best option for them right now. What I am afraid of is Kadri being a little too greedy too soon. There is no question he is a very talented player and will only improve, but when he said in an interview on Sunday, "I can't control the cap I can only control how I play" that to me said that he thinks he is deserving of a lot more money than Nonis is willing to give him.
-
And also Slava Voynov and Bryan Bickell
-
Oops I had someone tell me he was a free agent, but yea def makes you wonder if a buyout is imminent, especially after his work with the TSN panel as of the last few weeks. It sees to me it's always a gig that players, coaches, and GMs look into to prove that they still know the game well and can be assets.
On another note I saw a stat today that Patrick Kane has just 3 goals in 28 games since scoring that overtime cup winner against the Flyers in 2010.
-
also good nominees, but Lupul was nominated last year for his return after a bad back and almost missing out on his career. His injury this year, was more fluke and a little less serious
-
Brodeur, goal to wing

also following that loss Miller now has the worst goals against average when he loses and second worst save percentage of any goaltender who has played even one game this season..
