  1. That was the only other game I could think of, but I think this is worse because the B's were up 3-0 n the FLyers in the first period before I believe it was JVR that got the first goal in the last minute of the period so it was actually 3-1 at the end of the first, plenty of time to come back. The Leafs were up 4-1 with 10 minutes left in the game anf gave up 2 empty net goals in the last 90 seconds!! If I were a Leafs fan, I might just have to jump off a bridge.

Boston almost scored AGAIN in the last few seconds when it was 5-on-5. Imagine if they won in regulation...

  2. Ovechkin needs to be suspended for leaving his feet checking McDonagh into the boards.

At least I'm not the only one who notices this. And it's not even like the checks are useful (outside of the intimidation or chance to cause physical harm). He keeps striding and leaping and elbowing guys in the head at least 2-3 seconds after the puck is down the ice. It's not like he's hitting a puck carrier coming into the zone or receiving a pass. It just looks, and is, dirty.

  3. 2009 Pittsburgh beats Philly, wins the Cup; 2010 Chicago beats Philly, wins the Cup; 2011 Boston beats Philly, wins the Cup. Last year, never happened, but three of the past four years, we lost to the eventual Cup champs.

The same things could be said about the Phillies (except for last year). After they won in 2008, they lost to the Yankees, Giants and Cardinals who all went on to win the title. And an interesting fact but if you had to pick a Superbowl winner this year, put your money on the Chargers. For the past four years, the Superbowl champion has been the team that's faced the Eagles in their home opener. From 2008 to 2012 their opponents at home have been the Saints, Packers, Giants, and Ravens. In 2007 (2008 Superbowl) the Steelers played the Eagles in their 2nd home game... Kind of odd.

  4. The more I want Bryz to be released YESTERDAY!!!

Anyone else watching these games? These close, low-scoring, battles? Where players have to earn their goals... Who would have thought that it's legal to actually not allow a goal every 10 shots?

Holmgren get on the phone now and either trade or release this foooooo!

  5. I swear the people who post on this board are the same ones running the team...

They want to win every game 5-4... (which is what you have to do with Bryz.) I love how the team and the defense MAGICALLY got better with Mason in net. Didn't Mason stop 40+ shots in one of his games? Oh yeah... 40 "easy" saves. Whenever Bryz gave up 4 goals on like 20 shots, it was cause the defense sucked and every shot was like SUPER TOUGH to save. LOL!!!

Get Bryzaster out of here. Then we can fix our "terrible" defense.

  6. While I agree that Mason has played better than Bryz in the games we have seen him in. There is no doubt that, this team in front of Mason is completely different than what has been in front of Bryzgalov all season. Whether its the youth stepping up for injuries, or confidence in front of a different goalie, or whatever, you can't lay all the blame on Bryz or success on Mason. But if Mason continues this type of play for the last couple of games, then I think we will have no choice but to amnesty Bryz and make sure this team takes this type of play into next year, or we will be right back where we started.

I'd play differently, also knowing that I had a goalie behind me that was competent. The Flyers' sphincters must be SOOOOO tight with Bryzaster in net. Any time they let any shot go by there's a good chance it's going in the back of the net. Knowing you have to score 3 goals every game to just hopefully secure a point. 4 goals to win... sometimes.

  7. To the end of the Bryzaster Era!!!

0.950?! What is that?! Oh just Mason's save percentage tonight.

But the Bruins are resting everyone.

But all 40 shots were easy to save.

But the defense is playing better.

    But Bryz is just misunderstood.

But give him a few more years to develop his skills.

Hopefully only two more games left of the Bryz the Sieve defenders. Should be hearing from them in 3... 2... 1...

  8. I say sit Bryz for the rest of the season and play Mason. I agree with Doom - everybody looked better when he was in goal. Totally different vibe and energy level was much higher.

Even when we lost a similar game in Buffalo 1-0 with MAson in net, I felt the difference was Enroth playing out of his mind. I thought the offense had some good chances and got robbed.

  9. Never seen one man just suck the life out of an entire fan base for so long. Maybe Mariano Rivera... but Brodeur has a special place in Flyers history.

I'm sure he'll retire in a few years and we will finally get over the hump.

Although I'm pretty sure that in 50 years Brodeur could die and the Devils could lay his dead carcass in front of the net, and the Devils would have a better chance of winning the game than if they had modern day Bryzaster in net...

  10. It's hard to blame a goalie when the offense again has gone into the toilet... but that also has to do with the fact that they are playing a goalie that doesn't SUCK ENORMOUS AMOUNTS OF BALLS!!!

I just think that the Flyers play on their heels with Bryz in net, knowing that they have to be PERFECT. Every time they mess up the puck is in the back of the net.

  11. Lavy needs fired. You have Mason playing extremely well and u put that piece of garbage in goal. He deserves to be fired as he has zero idea what is good. Oh and his system sucks! Have you ever seen bryz make a save one on one or two on one without the shooter missing? Oh in the shootout does he ever???

The two-on-ones are the worst. I wouldn't mind them if the other team made some awesome tic-tac-toe passes that were impossible for them to defend or if the Flyers player missed the puck or man. But usually the Flyers defender sticks to the non-shooter, cuts off the passing lane and forces the puck carrier to take a shot. Essentially the skater just comes up the wing, makes NO attempt to pass or fake out Bryz, and just shoots it high while Bryz the Sieve flails on his knees like a professional fluffer...

  12. LOL... Quick only gave up 3 goals in 3 games during the playoffs!!! 3 games in 20 that the Kings played. And the Kings won one of those games!

The other two losses the Kings had, Quick gave up 2 goals.

Winning is a lot easier when a goalie can hold teams to 2 goals or less.

Has Bryz held teams to under 3 goals a total of 3 times all season?! hahahaha. With Bryz in net we need to score at least 3 if not 4 goals just to have a chance to win.

  13. I've seen a lot of bad Philadelphia teams, but this years Flyers team is probably the most difficult to watch. Supposedly they have all this talent (especially on offense) and then they just go into stretches of games where they look Mites On Ice-ish, stumbling over themselves unable to even get the puck into the offensive zone. And don't even start my on Bryz. In fact our entire goalie situation for the past 2-3 decades has been just comical.

Watching this Buffalo game is like a summary of our season. Offense looks lost/dead. Mason plays amazingly for 40 minutes and then gives up the softest, WTF goal... But I give credit to Buffalo there as well. They shot the puck, it went wide, took a bounce and went in off MAson's skate. IF that was in the otehr end of the ice, the Flyers would have never even thrown the puck at the net. They would have tried at least 405 more passes and inevitably flubbed one of them and not have gotten a single shot.

And Enroth is schooling us. So that's what it looks like to have a goalie stand on their heads...?

  14. Seriously... it can't be any worse than what we have to watch.

These players have ZERO vision. None. Zip. Nada. Never seen a team that has no fuggin idea where the puck is... EVER!

I could probably count on one hand the number of tic-tac-toe passes they've made all season. They make getting the puck out of their zone into an epic Cecille B. Demille exercise of frustration. How hard is it to make 1-2 easy passes and get the puck out of the zone? I'm talking about unimpeded, no pressure, HEY THERE'S A WIDE OPEN FLYER RIGHT OVER THERE type of pass.

It's like tic... think think think... tac... think think think... slow bouncy pass to the back skate of the guy who has two defenders on him.

It's embarrassing. It's like before each pass they think to themselves, "how can I make this as difficult as possible?" And don't even get me started on the times they pass up a shot/scoring chance to make another BRILLIANT pass. (one of my favorites from tonight was Hartnell's drop pass to ABSOLUTELY NOBODY!!!) Dear Hartnell, you can barely skate, please don't try anything fancy.

I'm just so frustrated with these guys. They don't even play bad hockey. They play DUMB hockey!!! I watch them and it seems like every other play I say "why the heck did he just do that?!" Why did he make that pass? Why would you go left when you should have gone right? Why can't you just get the puck DEEP?! How can a team literally make passes through you!? Where is the puck presence?!

Every time I see a dumb play this is the only thing I can think of:

  15. you cant expect all the games to be 1-0 you have to score goals, whether you like it or not, problem is with this team is constant breakdowns even on the 4 game winning steak, it will came back to haunt this team and it did, if the coach doesnt correct it, no matter what goalie is on this team, it's going to be problem.

Not expecting to win games 1-0, but your offense shouldn't have to score 4 goals every night. You people act like Bryz is the only goalie in the league who has to stop tough shots or that our team is the only one that has defensive breakdowns... I feel like in order to win with BRyz our defense has to hold the opposition to less than 5 shots each period. And even then Bryz still gives up goals (2 goals on 4 shots by the Canadiens in the second period of last game...)

Did you see the JEts goalie rob us of a one-on-one goal in the third period? It's possible... I know it's shocking.

  16. Carry your Weight Mutther Suckkers!

To be fair our offense has scored 5 goals the last three games, And 3 goals the two before that, and we needed every goal in those games. This may come as a shock to some posters, but some teams don't need AT LEAST 3 goals every game to give them a shot at winning. Most games we seem to need 4... It's easy to rip the offense when they only score 1 point, but maybe the other teams goalie is actually skilled, unlike ours... Not every scoring "chance" = goal for them...

  17. This guy...

I swear, does LAvvy have to tie him up in the net like Emilio Estevez did to Goldberg in the Mighty Ducks?!

Luckily for Bryz, once his NHL career is over (which is hopefully sooner rather than later) he can always find a job in the adult film industry, Seems fitting for someone who is down on their knees so often.
