  1. Schenn is starting to look a bit better and really energized the team with his big hit today.
  2. It is a fancy term for the penalty that we know of as interference. It totally should have been called. I was at the game and my whole section screamed for a penalty and before we knew it, it was in our net. The only call worse than that was the tripping call that ler to the bruins 2nd goal.
  3. Not saying that they wont go deep but it is early days yet and we cant say that there wont be a key injury or a prolonged slump etc. This kind of statement should not be made right now (at least not in public) as it sounds arrogant and overconfident.
  4. I have to side with Torts on this one. Just keep your mouth shut Mr owner as they dont hand out the cup in January. We can only hope that the Rags continue to get hyped up and that they begin to read and beleieve their headlines.
  5. http://espn.go.com/n...ose-winning-all NEW YORK -- In a rare, impromptu news conference Tuesday night, New York Rangers owner James Dolan said he feels his Blueshirts are closing in on the Stanley Cup. "I'm very proud of the organization," Dolan said after the team's 3-0 win over Nashville. "I'm particularly proud of Mr. [Glen] Sather because all the way back to 2004 when things weren't going so well and we had a lot of free agents here and we decided to basically re-do the strategy, Glen and I made a pact. "I gave him something, which I won't reveal today, but I gave him something to seal the pact. I said 'You can't give it back to me until we win the Stanley Cup.' And I think we're pretty close to getting that thing back," said Dolan, who has not addressed the Rangers media since the 2005-06 season. Dolan went on to laud his general manager for constructing the team the right way -- building through the draft and cultivating a foundation of home-grown nucleus players. "For me it's all about the system he built. Of course its great coaching, but it's about the farm system, the scouting system and the development -- going with kids -- and sticking with that philosophy even at times when it didn't look so good. So, I'm very proud of him and the organization," Dolan said. With their shutout win over the streaking Predators, Dolan's Rangers are 29-11-4, which puts them first in the NHL standings with 62 points and three points ahead of the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference. But even after the surprise endorsement from his owner, coach John Tortorella said he didn't want his squad overlooking the task at hand. "I have my owner up here talking about a Stanley Cup. That's a bunch of bull----," Tortorella countered good-naturedly. "We need to take one game at a time." The team's .705 winning percentage through 44 games is the team's best start in 40 years and the third best start in franchise history. Although Sather's tenure as general manager has, at times, been characterized by his willingness to throw loads of cash at some of the league's biggest free agents, the team is enjoying success with a promising crop of young, homegrown talent. Of the team's 20 players on Tuesday's roster, eight were Rangers draft picks. Dolan isn't the only one within the organization to share his lofty postseason expectations. Sather guaranteed a Stanley Cup championship during a Winter Classic news conference in Philadelphia this September. He also guaranteed the Rangers would beat the Flyers on Jan. 2 (they did, 3-2) and that the New York Yankees would win the World Series (they didn't).
  6. Bryz looks so unconfortable out there, it looks as if he has never played the position. Every save he looks like he is fighting the puck. This is unbelieveable to me. Brad Marsh could do a better job than this right now. As far as Jeff Reese being a bad coach, I don't see it as he found ways to make Leighton and Boosh look semi decent and even the Bulin Wall (as he was his coach when Tampa won the Stanley Cup). I think this is all on Bryz and his mind.
  7. Lol that was from an old cartoon I remember that mother in law jacket routine.
  8. Why is it that fans on here, and at the arena whom I speak with were saying all last year that Bob is the real deal and that he just needs to develop and we just need at stopgap in here until Bob is ready and the Flyers brass couldn't see that? Pelle wasn't great right away and had to be sent to Maine before he forced his way up and was the real deal. Now we have this huge albatross around our necks and unless he goes on LTIR or we make his life miserable enough that he will want to leave (who would take him with that contract?) we are eventually going to end up moving Bob and watching him win as SC with some other team and wishing we had held onto him.
  9. Holding a lead by the 2011-2012 Philadelphia Flyers with a forward by the man they call Universe Special thanks also goes to Bob and the Flyers defense.
  10. I felt we outplayed the Rags most of the game. I think that as the thread said goaltending was the difference. Mike Rupp has no business scoring 2 goals in a season let alone a game. Bob has to stop those (especially the 2nd goal). The Rags are hot right now but I am not convinced that they can keep this up for the rest of the season. I think they are overachieving a bit and that we will be able to take them in some of the games down the stretch. The Bruins on the other hand I give us no chance against.
  11. Brad Marsh was a serviceable and helmetless stay at home dman who loved to block shots especially when Pelle and then Hexy got out of position. He was like a 2nd goalie back there. He was good for about 1 or 2 goals a year and I could not believe the glorious scoring chance he had in the beginning of the game. He was robbed by beezer. He later went to the Sens when they were a new team and then opened up his own eating establishment there called Marshy's.
  12. That was amazing seeing those guys play again. Seeing Rex, Lindros and Leclair hook up for a goal was a huge thrill. Also seeing Toc and Poulin get assists followed by a Mark Howe PS goal really warmed my 35 year old heart as those were and are still "my guys". I loved seeing Bernie, Clarke, and Barber play live for the first time in my life. I was hoping to see a bit more from JR and Propp. I was stunned too how well Trees and Little played. Great to see my old heroes beat the old Rags let's now see the current squad paste the Rags on national TV.
  13. Little and Laforrest have shown more in this alumni game than Bryz has all season
  14. Congrats VF to you and Mrs VF. What a wonderful Christmas present and what a way to start the new year off right!
  15. Please enjoy this blast from the past! I was only a Flyers fan for 1 month+ when this was shot as I became a fan in November of 1984. Many of my old faves are in this video and sadly we have to say R.I.P. to more of the people in this video than we would like. Finally about my man Dave Poulin, what was up with that sweatshirt?? Merry Christmas Flyers Fans to you and your families and Happy new year...just think of it this way, we are 1 year closer to our next Stanley Cup. Sincerely Poulin20
  16. Check her out from the time period when I first saw her. She was not our regular singer back then that honor belonged to Renee Veneziale.
  17. I hate all afternoon games period. If they lose I think about it the rest of the day and am slightly annoyed. If they win I am left wanting more for the rest of the day as I am sad the game is over. I love night games because I wait all day in anticipation then no matter what happens I can go home and sleep it off (or go up to bed when it is an away game). Luckily I am on vacation right now and was not able to attend today's abortion of a game poor Adamflyers had the joy of attending.
  18. They probably just aren't your type. I can recall many times in life when someone would tell me about some hot girl and I would look at her and be like "is this guy serious???".
  19. It will never happen as the owners who count on the gate revenue would never allow them to take out seats in order to enlarge the playing surface. Look what they did, they eliminated the goal judge (mostly due to instant replay) and added more seats. Next thing you know they will ask Lou Nolan to sit up in the press box so they can sell a seat in his spot.
  20. If memory serves, the legend was that he gave a mean speech in the locker room during game 6 of the Buffalo series last year that seemed to inspire the team to victory.
  21. I saw them up close and personal less than 2 weeks ago at a "Meet the Players" party for season ticket holders they are quite impressive live. I was telling my poor brother Adamflyers who could not be there due to work that some of these ice girls were taking my breath away.
  22. My sources indicate that there was just a run at LA stores on eggs, flour, milk and baking powder.
  23. Whatever it is, its an absolute disgrace and travesty but what else is new in the Buttman NHL?
