jammer2
Spits actually drafted Ryan Moore 35th overall, but was a top 15 talent who had told OHL teams he was going the NCAA route. Guess this kid, who just turned 16 is wicked fast and has great moves. A real reach by GM Warren Rychel, considering their top pick was taken away for cheating. Let's hope no money changed hands here, they wouldn't be *that* stupid, would they?http://blogs.windsor...top-pick-moore/ Does not make up for the lost 4th overall pick, who turned out to be Sean Day. The phrase cheaters never prosper comes to mind here, losing Day will have a profound effect on the team for the next 4 seasons. flyercanuck
I'm getting pretty sick of players telling teams not to pick them cause they're going the NCAA route only to get picked way later than they should have by the same 3 or 4 teams who they end up playing for. It's bs.
jammer2
@flyercanuck It is odd how the same teams seem to profit time after time. I agree, it makes the playing field uneven. The players agent are as much as fault as anyone else. No longer to you man up and just go where you are picked, no....you have your agent pull sneaky strings behind the scenes, it's borderline unethical at the very least. flyercanuck
@jammer2 The league will eventually lose teams like Peterborough if something isn't done. And that would be a sad day for the CHL.
jammer2
@flyercanuck The question is, how do you police that? Do you *make* players declare where they are gonna go, and then make them ineligible after they declare? I can't see the OHL wanting that, but you are right, something has to be done to make a level playing field. Tough to make a call on how they accomplish that. flyercanuck
@jammer2 Exactly as you said. Declare you're going NCAA route and stick with it. If you want to play in the CHL you play by CHL rules, you go to the team that drafts you, not one of the top franchises. Stop teaching kids their word means squat. And make the draft work the way it's supposed to.
