yave1964 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Sheldon Souray is lost for the season. He had a nice comeback season last year with the Ducks, scoring seven goals and was a plus 9 and was expected to be a big part of the Ducks season. The good news is the Ducks have had a trial by fire for young stud blue liners Sami Vatanen, Hampus Lindholm (plus 25) and Cam Fowler who has 26 points and is a plus 26. Vets like Lovejoy, the underrated Francois Beauchemin and the mean and nasty Bryan Allen have all contributed and even excelled. Further good news for the blue line is Luca Sbisa has been sent down for a conditioning stint so even without Souray they run seven deep of talented kids and veteran role players who know their place. Obviously they have been doing quite fine so far, the loss of Souray hurts more for the post season and for depth than the regular season obviously but this talented young blue line is going to do just fine. TropicalFruitGirl26 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Well, he has one year left at a 3.6 Mil cap hit according to capgeek. The type of defenseman every team would like to have on their team.....if he could ever stay consistently healthy for a season. This guy's health in recent years has been a roller coaster. At 37 years old and his history of injury, I just have to wonder if next season won't be his last. And don't be surprised if he gets injured again next year and doesn't play any more than a quarter to half a season. His age, position, and play style will surely conspire to keep him out of the lineup. As you stated @yave1964 , his injury has not been a major issue for the Ducks as they have had very good years from not only their vets, but several of their young players as well. Quote
