Lightning fan Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) With his shutout against the Devils yesterday Bishop recorded his 31st win this season, surpassing Khabibulin's 30 wins from the 2002/03 season. Guy's been outstanding for us this season, he looks like a keeper. We shall see what the future brings. Edited March 16, 2014 by Lightning fan Quote

hf101 Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 @Lightning fan Another Yzerman steal. Granted Bishop really didn't have an opportunity to earn a starting job, but still the Lightning only gave up Cory Conacher and a 4th. Great scouting by the Lightning. Quote
Lightning fan Posted March 16, 2014 Author Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) @hf101 In hindsight it was a great trade for us, at least it appears to be as of now, which is funny because the general consensus when the trade went down was that the Sens fleeced us big time. Funny how it works. That being said, I find it hard to believe Conacher's performance in Ottawa was waiver worthy. Edited March 16, 2014 by Lightning fan Quote
yave1964 Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 I took Bishop late in one draft and traded for him early in the season in the other. I ended up dealing him at near the halfway point, feeling he might slip a bit but the man has been amazing all year. Love his size and overall game. Very interested in seeing how he performs under pressure when the second season starts. Quote
jammer2 Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 @yave1964 It's hard to not compare Bishop with Rinne. Both have nice size, excellent side to side movement, great glove hands and in general, very athletic quick moving guys. It' possible Bishop becomes even better than Rinne, which would mean Stevie Y has done in one year what the Flyers have failed to do for decades, find a legit #1 goalie, and paid diddly squat for him. The playoffs will inevitably determine Bishops true value, but as long has he is respectable in the post season and learns a lot, he will have accomplished what he needed to do....for this year anyways.
