Discuss: Which teams should be pursuing Keith Yandle?

We only ask this question because the consensus is that he’ll be traded by the Arizona Coyotes prior to the March 2 deadline.

The skinny:

Yandle is a 27-year-old defenseman who’s signed through next season for a cap hit of $5.25 million, after which he can become an unrestricted free agent. So far this season, he has four goals and 23 assists in 43 games while logging an average of 24:10 in ice time. League-wide, only Blues d-man Kevin Shattenkirk has more power-play points (24) than Yandle (17).

Minnesota. The Wild could probably use another big-minute d-man, if only to lessen Ryan Suter‘s workload. Plus, their power play isn’t very good, and Yandle could help there.

Any thoughts on this?

Realistically what would it cost the Wild, and would Yandle bring enough to the team for what  it would cost them?

I don't think Yandle is the right d-man for the Wild and is probably not worth a trade. Phoenix has a decent number of defensive prospects also they probably are be looking for offense.

If they could do a Yandle for Vanek trade straight up it would be a win for the Wild for sure.

Well every contender should at least kick the tires on him, a top pair offensive d-man, he obviously fits in better with some than others.

Teams (in contention) in need of a defenseman with his talents, IMHO include:

San Jose: other than Burns no offense from the back end

Detroit: same other than replace Burns with Kronwall

Vancouver

Possibly the Avalanche if they believe they are in the race.

Those would be my top four destinations for him.
