Ray Emery and Ryan Martindale on PTOs

Razor wound up being a good teammate while he was with the Flyers.

Too bad his legs are shot, he's pretty slow laterally , he can make up for that deficiency with positioning though, and you guys have a pretty solid defensive corps to help with the "scrambly" plays in front of the net. He's learned to be more cerebral with his game. it is too bad his maturity level and ability level never fully meshed.

at the very least he could mentor a kid in Syracuse, i think his days as an NHL goaltender are behind him.

Good stuff, @mishey

Yea, Ray Emery, ideally, would NOT see time at the NHL level....however, Yzerman did hint the Bolts may need to look outside the organization for some seasoned goalie depth due to the Vasilevskiy surgery.

If all is right in the world, Gudlevskis would be ready to back up Ben Bishop while Vasy heals up, or maybe even Adam Wilcox.

However, he cannot go into the season "hoping" Guds is ready, or that Wilcox is ready to make the jump from NCAA to the NHL.

Emery wouldn't even be in this conversation had it not been for the Vasy surgery, as @mojo1917 hit the nail on the head with what you get from Emery at this stage of his career.

Still though, should EVERYTHING else fall through, then having a guy like Emery who at least has played NHL hockey (and was pretty good at one point) is better than having complete raw rookies backstopping a team that has many players still 25 yrs or younger.

As for the C Ryan Martingale...I've no clue on him.

Seems like C is the least of the Bolts' issues, but then again, if many of them can play wing, or there is a need for extra depth in Syracuse (maybe because some wingers/centers are due to be called up), then that may be a reason he is being looked at.
