Things are looking up for hockey in Florida. The Bolts went on a very nice playoff run last year, have a ton of young awesome players. Don't look now, but the weak FLA sisters the Panthers are coming along quite nicely. First they extended Dale Tallon for 3 years, a great hockey mind and excellent GM....and then the org provided some more stability by locking up coach Gerard Gallant to a 2 year deal. A sign of a strong organization is stability at the top, and the Panthers got this in spades with these 2 signings. Now, the coach and GM can grow with the young talent they have amassed over the past few years. Panthers look better and better and are currently on a 7 game winning streak. Luongo is having a career year and seems to get better with each passing game. The Panthers were my surprise team of the year back in Sept, and they have done nothing to show they don't deserve that title. The Panthers are kinda like last years Islanders. Very talented up and coming group with a strong GM/Coach tandem....nice strong moves.

HA.....8 it is!  It will be quite a while before we get on a roll like that. The Panthers will not be picking in the top 10 in the draft now, but that is where Tallon comes in. He made some very nice late 1st round picks when he was with Chicago, so I expect more of the same when he selects later on with the Panthers. Their defense is pretty well set, and Luongo will be respectable for a few more years....Dale will probably concentrate on offensive minded forwards to add to his already nice collection. Perhaps they draft a goalie in the top 3 rounds as a potential successor to Roberto....but other than that....goals, goals and more goals.
