Former Penguin Kevin Stevens Charged with Conspiracy to Sell Oxycodone

It is being reported in the Boston Globe that Kevin Stevens, 51, was charged in federal court Thursday with possession and conspiracy to sell oxycodone and is being detained until his hearing on Tuesday.   Stevens was stated to have battled substance abuse and entered the NHL Substance Abuse Program before retiring in 2002. According to his attorney, John J. Commisso,  Stevens has remained plagued with “injuries, pain, and other challenges.”

How unfortunate! I was always curious why this happens? Did he go through all that money he earned while playing hockey to resort to this?
